Even though the weather is getting warmer, keeping your immune system on track is still important. Many of us think that we are only vulnerable during the cold months. I remember having a cold once during the summer before I started college, and it was terrible.

Here are some ways to boost your immune system:

1. Vitamin D

This is a great supplement for your immune system. My family and I take it daily. Since you also get vitamin D from sunlight, we get outside to enjoy the sunshine on sunny and warm days. Fish, like salmon and tuna, also contain vitamin D in addition to mushrooms and fortified milk.

2. Eating healthy

This is always a must. In my last article, I focused on being healthy after 40. Eating whole foods will give you the nutrients needed to boost your immunity.

3. Vitamin C

A fresh garden salad contains lots of vitamin C in addition to citrus fruits. You can also purchase natural vitamin C, which contains acerola fruit extract, Camu Camu berry fruit, and amla berry fruit.

4. Iron

Iron plays a role in many immune system processes. Spinach is a great source of iron. I recently learned that cacao powder a great source of iron. Add a little to a hot drink or food for an explosion of chocolate flavor.

5. Garlic

Whether raw or cooked, garlic has many health benefits. It stimulates the immune system by increasing the body’s resistance. I use it often when I cook to add flavor.

6. Concoct a homemade elixir

I drink 2-3 tablespoons of a homemade elixir daily. It contains apple cider vinegar, lemon juice, honey, cayenne pepper, ginger, clove, rosemary, cinnamon, eucalyptus, and natural vitamin C.

7. Drink plenty of water

This also a must in addition to eating healthy.
