Presentations are an inevitable part of doing business. A successful presentation can lead to new clients, sponsorship deals, more followers, or media coverage. But when done poorly, a bad presentation can miss the mark, leaving audiences bored and uninterested.

However, the secret to creating a great presentation may be found on Instagram.

In response to TikTok, Instagram offers Reels, 15 to 90-second, captivating videos where content creators can express creativity while bringing their brand to life. People rely on Reels to engage with the community and discover new ideas.

There are five interesting things we can learn from Instagram Reels when making our next presentation.

1. The brief and relevant text helps tell the story

A 2016 report found that 85% of the videos on Facebook did not include sound. So today, many content creators bring their Instagram Reels to life with music, voice-overs, on-screen text, and subtitles as a way to tell their stories.

To help your audience remember your presentation, add a voice-over. Then offer the presentation as a masterclass. Also, include brief and relevant text on your presentation slides. But not too much text or unnecessary information as you may cause your audience to lose interest.

2. Engaging content gets people talking

How often have you heard people talking about the latest video they saw on TikTok or Instagram? Whether the content features dancing, cooking, or the newest exercise moves, if it's engaging and entertaining, people can't wait to share the video with others.

You want the same reaction to your presentation. Use storytelling, ice-breakers, or video to bring your presentation to life and leave your audience talking about what they learned.

3. Let the audience see your personality

Instagram Reels with high engagement offer more than just a good time. The most engaging Reels allow the audience to see the content creator's passion, focus, and enthusiasm.

While great-looking slides are important, letting the audience see your personality is equally important. Instead of relying solely on the slides in your presentation, don't forget to speak from the heart. Give your audience a glimpse of your personality.

4. Sprinkle in a bit of fun

Instagram offers animation, stickers, and special effects that allow content creators to make fun Reels. In doing so, creators allow their audience to see their fun, playful side.

Who says your business presentation has to be serious and stuffy? Where appropriate, add a bit of fun to your presentation through storytelling, video, or interactive exercises with the audience.

5. Ask yourself the three E's

Before making an Instagram Reel, content creators are encouraged to ask themselves if their content delivers the three E's – educate, engage and excite.

In trying to deliver a successful presentation, don’t forget about your audience. Make sure your presentation delivers educational and engaging content that excites your audience and leaves them wanting more.

Don't be afraid to switch things up

Whether you've been in business a long time or you’re just starting to build your author brand, don't be afraid to switch things up from the traditional way of creating a business presentation.

One of the most important things Instagram can teach us about creating presentations is to explore new ways of creating content.

Don't be afraid to look at other brands and businesses to find inspiration. Use your authentic voice. Let your passion for your business shine through your presentation.

Successful presentations are memorable. How will you deliver a presentation your audience won't soon forget?
