In our modern world we are surrounded by information, in fact there is so much information it can feel somewhat overwhelming.

For many people, this may lead to a sense that they are always in search of new information. Some are trapped in the perpetual seeking of knowledge moving from one program straight into the next. I get it, I am an educator, a lifelong learner, and I personally crave knowledge. I’ll get real with you here my bookshelf is full of books that need to be read. As I read one I will purchase five more!

Our soul has been on journeys other than the physical one we are experiencing here right here right now. Of course, some of us are young souls and some of us are on our last journey on the earth plane. Know that each journey that we have taken has imprinted knowledge on our souls.

I am not going to lie to you it goes even deeper than this! As we take each step on this earth we are also walking the path of our ancestors. As an English woman who comes from a line of mediums each of my grandmothers endured pains for me to be able to be free in my gift today. Going right back to the cunning folk who through the spread of Christianity was persecuted for the wisdom that had been passed from generations before. The connection to our land, the remedies provided, and the knowledge gathered were over a few centuries totally destroyed.

Yet there is another layer! That of the mother wound. When in the womb a female fetus has her life eggs within her. Meaning that there are three generations of women who are entangled in the experiences of their mother and grandmother being past to her children. It continues generation after generation. The trauma of the patriarch system, the mistreatment of women, the crushing of the sacred.

Here we are in a society that is focused on instant gratification. Buy the next course, book, or fad diet and see success in one month. Become an overnight success becoming a millionaire sitting on a beach only working one hour a day. It has become standard for us as humans to feel insignificant and not good enough with the constant consumption of the perfect life created through filters and staging.

What is your life purpose? The pressure for our children to make life decisions at a tender age when they haven’t even figured out who they are. The pressure to achieve high grades and go to the top colleges and choose a career when they haven’t really dipped their toes in what this world can offer.

As adults you may discover you have picked the wrong career, you can’t quit! You have been told all your life that once you start something you see it through. There is no space for quitters in this world. Think about all those people who have nothing and you want to give this up because it got a little hard. Plus, you have that mortgage for the house and the white picket fence, the new car, motorhome, boat, and the list goes on. You’re done now stuck in the rat run!

Is it any wonder we push all of those expectations onto our children? For we truly know what they have ahead of them. The work they will need to put out to meet the unrealistic goals of the modern world. When you take one moment to step back and think about why addictions and mental health are some of the most prevalent illnesses of the modern world, it really is so clear why.

Why? We have lost who we are. We have lost what our purpose is on this planet. Every single one of us was brought here for a reason. We forget as soon as we are born and it is our journey to find it once again. Many people cannot see their importance in a world in which they are bombarded with images of what they do not have. Each and everyone is taught to focus on the destination. I don’t think it matters where you are in your life right now I am convinced that if you look back on your life and think of something you were working towards, if you ever met that goal, it took you straight to another one. If you didn’t meet that goal the journey led you to another destination.

Deep inside every human on this earth, we have wisdom. Wisdom that is imprinted on our souls from other life experiences. Wisdom that is imprinted in our DNA from our ancestors and their journeys both good and bad. The Wisdom passed down from the mother's wound. This wound is even passed to her sons. A wounded mother may leave her son in feeling that he cannot find comfort in another. He will learn to shut off from his emotions and search externally for validation. He may question who he is for the duration of his life struggling with self-esteem, always seeking the next best thing. In the end, leaving him lonely and vulnerable perpetuating the self-fulfilling prophesy that he is not good enough.

The Steps needed to reclaim your wisdom and medicine;

1. Limit Social Media Consumption

Hey, I am not saying that you shouldn’t use social media! As a businesswoman, I use social media to connect with my soul contracts. You can however choose how and when you use social media. Unfollow negative people in your circle and in turn follow positive groups or groups/people that fill your soul. If you are not being inspired then it’s time to move away. Especially if this has become a habit to fill your time. Find something else to replace social media that is healthier allowing you to find your own gifts instead of comparing yourself to others.

2. Meditation

Some of you may be thinking ugh! Really! No! Let me tell you what meditation is not. It is not sitting in an easy pose clearing the mind of everything. Our brain was made to think! We cannot stop it! Don’t bother trying! Meditation is time to break away from the mundane and give the mind time to rest. What to let go of is the intruding thoughts of ‘things to do’! Use guided meditations they give your mind something to focus on. Let me tell you something though when you open up space your creativity will come. Have a journal beside you and take notes. When the mind wanders it is OK! You don’t want to push away when those ideas flow. To clarify if thoughts come about chores and tasks that need to be completed acknowledge and let them go! Other thoughts that are new may take you away from the guided meditation and that is ok you have allowed space for your creativity to flow, so let it flow! I get my best ideas when in meditation!

3. Journal

Yes, yes, I know, you also did not want to hear this. Do you know why we are always told to journal? Writing is a part of the higher order thinking systems. When we write things down our brain feels like it has done something with them. You can do brain dumps, and write everything on your mind, until there is no more to write. Write your ideas, write using prompts, or write a dear diary. I use my daily Tarot card and draw on the message from the universe. It doesn’t matter how, you must do what works for you. Writing gives us time to reflect and connect with our true selves.

Sometimes does it feel like you see the same message over and over? You may begin to question why? Well, there are two ways of looking at this. The first is that the universe is giving you a message and it is showing up everywhere. Second, these are the universal laws that apply and work for us as humans in this space and time.

Here is some advice; you are free to take it or leave it I am not offended. You cannot deny that you were drawn to read this article today so there is a reason, trust that! Ideally, we want to create daily rituals which allow us to connect with our own inner knowing, wisdom, and medicine. That we are all born with gifts and talents that make us unique in this world. To reclaim this we have to take time away from the rat run and take time to be with ourselves. This may be uncomfortable for a while and you may only be able to do a meditation and journal once a month. That’s perfect! See if you can carve out time once a week, then twice a week, three times, and then maybe it can be a daily ritual. There is no pressure!
