In today’s rapidly changing business landscape, leaders who can combine profitability with purpose stand out as the voices shaping the future. One such leader is Yusuf Abubakar, an International Property Investor, MBA-qualified entrepreneur, and 2024 Stars of Social Care Award Finalist. With ventures spanning property, care, and social housing, Yusuf has built a reputation for scaling businesses that deliver both financial success and lasting community impact. I sat down with Yusuf to explore his journey, the lessons he’s learned from global partnerships, and why he believes profit with purpose is the true foundation of businesses that last.

Yusuf, you’ve built an impressive reputation across property, care, and social housing. How would you describe your journey into entrepreneurship?
My journey has always been about solving real problems through business. I started by identifying gaps in property and care where people needed sustainable, long-term solutions. Over time, that grew into scaling ventures that balance profitability with positive impact. It’s been about learning, adapting, and never losing sight of integrity.
You recently completed your MBA. How has that shaped the way you approach business today?
The MBA sharpened my strategic thinking. It gave me frameworks to structure decisions, but more importantly, it reinforced the need for leadership that looks beyond short-term gains. It helped me align my businesses with global best practices while staying grounded in purpose.
You’re also an Advanced Professional Certificate holder in Strategic Business Management. How does formal training complement your hands-on business experience?
Practical experience gives you instincts, academic training gives you structure. Together, they allow you to move fast while making decisions that stand up to scrutiny. It’s the balance between intuition and discipline.
You were recognised as a Stars of Social Care Award Finalist in 2024. What did that recognition mean for you?
It was humbling. The care sector is often undervalued, yet it touches lives every day. Being recognised nationally reminded me that building in this space isn’t just about business, it’s about dignity, service, and leaving a human legacy.
You operate as an international property investor. What trends are you seeing globally that entrepreneurs should pay attention to?
The global property market is shifting towards sustainability, technology integration, and cross-border investment models. Entrepreneurs should think globally but act locally, finding opportunities that work within communities yet are structured to attract international capital.
Many business leaders talk about “profit with purpose.” How do you personally put that into practice?
For me, it means designing ventures where impact is not an afterthought. In property, that might be ensuring developments are environmentally sustainable. In care, it’s about providing services that genuinely improve quality of life. Purpose and profit are not in conflict, they strengthen each other.
You work with high-level leaders and investors worldwide. What do you think makes partnerships successful at that level?
Trust, transparency, and long-term vision. High-level leaders are not interested in short-term wins. They want to know your values align with theirs and that you’re building something that lasts.
What advice would you give to entrepreneurs who want to scale from local business into global partnerships?
Start by mastering your local market, credibility begins at home. Then, build systems that are scalable, and seek partners who share your vision. Global expansion is less about geography and more about alignment of values and capacity.
What keeps you motivated in business, beyond the financial rewards?
Legacy. I want to create businesses that outlive me, enterprises that contribute positively to communities, inspire others, and demonstrate that ethical business can be powerful business.
Finally, Yusuf, what’s next for you?
The next chapter is about continuing to expand globally, deepening partnerships, and mentoring the next generation of entrepreneurs. For me, success is measured by how many doors I can open for others while building ventures that truly make a difference.
Yusuf Abubakar’s story is a reminder that entrepreneurship at the highest level is not just about financial gain, it is about creating sustainable impact, building trust, and leaving a legacy. His blend of strategic expertise and values-driven leadership offers a blueprint for entrepreneurs who want to scale globally without losing sight of purpose.
As a Brainz Executive Contributor, I believe it is vital to spotlight leaders like Yusuf who are redefining what success in business truly means. His journey is not only inspiring but also a call to action, to build enterprises that make a difference, both locally and globally.
