The Fusion of Style and Empowerment: What Inspired You to Combine Fashion and Personal Coaching in Your Career?

From an early age, I have been captivated by the transformative power of fashion and beauty. I was always renowned for having a keen eye for style and loved the ability to bring out the unique beauty and confidence of the women around me. I also loved to travel and learned so much about different styles and cultures from around the world. As I worked within the world of fashion and beauty, working for prestigious brands, and styling women and celebrities, I began to notice a common theme among the women I was meeting. Surprisingly, many struggled with low self-esteem, faced various challenges, and carried insecurities that hindered their confidence in expressing who they really were. Many also had a lack of knowledge around embracing their personal style and being authentic to who they really were.

Driven by a desire to make a positive impact on their lives, I embarked on this journey, combining my passion for fashion with the principles of personal coaching. I saw an opportunity to not only enhance outward appearances, but to empower women from within, fostering a sense of confidence, working on their mindset and helping them to take control of their lives.

The launch of Adourable seamlessly helped to fuse style and empowerment. My vision was to create a safe space where women could explore their personal style without feeling less than or inadequate, while addressing the underlying challenges that often held them back.

What do you feel are the benefits of having a personal stylist?

I feel there are many benefits of investing in a personal stylist depending on the individual's needs and preferences. These include:

  • Time-saving: A personal stylist can save you time by curating outfits and shopping for you. This is particularly beneficial for busy individuals who may not have the time to stay updated with fashion trends or spend hours browsing through stores.

  • Expertise: Personal stylists are knowledgeable about fashion trends, body types, and colour palettes. They can provide expert advice on what styles and colours suit you best, helping you enhance your personal image.

  • Confidence Boost: Wearing well-selected outfits that complement your body shape and style preferences can boost your confidence. A personal stylist can help you discover new looks that make you feel great about yourself.

  • Efficiency in Shopping: Personal stylists are skilled at navigating the fashion landscape efficiently. They know where to find specific items, which brands cater to your style, and how to make the most of your budget

  • Wardrobe Organisation: A personal stylist can help you declutter and organise your wardrobe. They can assist in identifying items to keep, alter, or donate, ensuring that your closet is filled with pieces that work well together.

  • Event-specific Guidance: If you have a special event, such as a wedding or a job interview, a personal stylist can help you choose the perfect outfit, taking into consideration the dress code, venue, and your personal style.

How do you guide your clients in cultivating a timeless and authentic wardrobe that reflects their personality and goals?

I firmly believe in the enduring nature of personal style beyond fleeting fashion trends. My approach to guiding clients in cultivating a timeless and authentic wardrobe involves a combination of self-discovery, strategic choices, and a focus on quality over quantity. I firstly conduct a style assessment exploring the clients preferences, lifestyle, and the emotions tied to certain styles. By uncovering these core elements, we create a style profile that serves as a timeless reference point. We look at the importance of investing in quality pieces rather than chasing fast fashion trends and guide clients to select well-made, timeless garments that will stand the test of time in terms of durability. I often recommend the concept of a capsule wardrobe, focusing on a curated collection of versatile, high-quality pieces that can be mixed and matched effortlessly. This strategic approach minimises clutter, streamlines decision-making, and ensures that each item serves a purpose in reflecting the client's authentic style.

I help the client to understand that wardrobe essentials form the backbone of a timeless wardrobe. I work with clients to identify these essentials based on their lifestyle and preferences. Classic pieces such as a tailored blazer, well-fitted jeans, a white button-down shirt, and a versatile dress become the building blocks of a wardrobe that transcends trends. We look at colours in styling, body shapes and skin tones as well as accessories and recommend regular wardrobe assessments to ensure that the clothing aligns with the client's current preferences and goals. Unnecessary items are removed, and new pieces are added strategically.

In your opinion, what role does authenticity play in personal style, and how do you assist clients in discovering and embracing it?

Authenticity is at the core of my philosophy. I believe that personal style is not merely about following trends or conforming to societal expectations but about expressing oneself. I understand that true beauty and confidence emerge when individuals embrace their authenticity and allow it to shine through their personal style and that’s the most important thing to me when working with clients. We embark on a journey of self-discovery in a number of ways:

  • Personalised Style Assessments: We start by conducting in-depth style assessments that delve into the client's preferences, lifestyle, and personality. This goes beyond surface-level preferences, exploring the emotions and sentiments tied to certain styles, colours, and clothing items.

  • Exploration of Personal Narratives: I encourage clients to share their personal stories, experiences, and aspirations. By understanding their journey, it is easier to help them identify key elements that can be reflected in their style. Clothing becomes a canvas for expressing their unique narratives.

  • Body Positivity and Self-Image Enhancement: We address body positivity and self-image issues by fostering a supportive environment. I work closely with clients to appreciate and celebrate their bodies, guiding them toward clothing choices that enhance their best features and make them feel confident.

  • Curation of a Signature Look: Through collaborative efforts, I assist clients in curating a signature look that feels authentic to them. This involves selecting clothing items, accessories, and grooming choices that align with their personality and lifestyle.

  • Mindfulness and Empowerment Workshops: It doesn't stop at the exterior; we delve into the internal aspects of empowerment. Mindfulness and empowerment workshops are incorporated into our services, focusing on building confidence, self-esteem, and a positive self-image. This holistic approach ensures that personal style is an extension of inner strength.

  • Encouraging Risk-Taking and Experimentation: Embracing authenticity often involves stepping out of one's comfort zone. I try to encourage clients to take calculated fashion risks, experiment with styles they might not have previously considered, and discover new facets of their identity through clothing.

  • Ongoing Support and Reflection: Authenticity is an evolving process. I provide ongoing support, encouraging clients to reflect on their style choices and how these choices align with their evolving sense of self. Adjustments are made as needed, ensuring that their personal style remains a true reflection of who they are.

The goal is not to impose a predefined notion of style but to guide women toward an authentic expression of themselves. I believe that true confidence emerges when individuals feel empowered to be their genuine selves, unapologetically embracing their uniqueness and that’s something that is always at the heart of what I do.

What sets your business apart, and what is your unique value proposition?

I have over 15 years of experience within the fashion and beauty industry which gives me great insight, knowledge and versatility when it comes to coaching women. In addition to this, my experience within the legal field in areas which have a challenging impact on women, has also allowed me to gain invaluable insight and skills. To have worked with as well as positively impact women globally, has been both a blessing and an honour. Being open and sharing my own experiences, challenges and breakthroughs has also been a great way of connecting and building some great relationships.

My coaching goes beyond fashion tips, incorporating elements of self-discovery and confidence-building. Through one-on-one coaching and group sessions, I have helped women uncover their strengths, redefine their self-image, and embrace their unique identity. I want Adourable to become a haven for transformation, where women not only discover a new sense of style but also unlock a newfound confidence in their personal and professional lives. I want to leave a legacy of confidence, self-love, and the enduring belief that style is not just about what you wear, but how you feel about yourself.
