Olga Willemsen, Certified Hypnotherapist and Coach

What inspired you to become a hypnotherapist?

I became a hypnotherapist to heal myself and help others do the same.

I have been interested in human psychology and personal growth and have practiced yoga and meditation for over 20 years.

When I was in my thirties, I found out that I had an autoimmune disease that affected my thyroid, called Hashimoto's thyroiditis. I didn't want to rely on medication, so I looked for natural ways to reverse Hashimoto's disease.

I tried many different approaches until I finally, ten years later, got into remission and felt better than ever.

But I still felt like something was missing from the process of healing and growth.

That's when I came across hypnotherapy (Rapid Transformational Therapy) and decided to learn it.

That is when I discovered hypnotherapy and decided to learn it. Through hypnotherapy, I could address the psychological root causes of the autoimmune condition, and with this final piece of the puzzle in place, I could move forward, expand my awareness, and pursue further personal development.

I realized that hypnosis could help me and others access the subconscious mind and discover the root causes of our problems, which often came from childhood experiences.

Hypnosis also helped me and others change our beliefs, habits, and behaviors to create positive changes in our lives.

I saw that hypnotherapy was a powerful healing method but also a way to grow and transform as a person.

I soon left my job, became a hypnotherapist, and have worked with clients ever since.

It is a privilege to spend my working life helping people overcome their challenges, such as anxiety, depression, phobias, weight or confidence issues. Hypnosis allows them to reprogram their beliefs, habits, and behaviors and to create the positive life changes they want.

To me, hypnosis is not only a tool for healing but also a pathway to personal transformation and growth. That is the vision that inspires me.

What is the most common misconception about hypnotherapy?

The most common misconception about hypnotherapy is the fear that a hypnotist can do something to you against your own will.

In reality, the hypnotist guides you while you do your profound inner work. This work aligns with your understanding, values, goals, and desire for change.

Hypnotherapy is unlike stage shows or movies that portray hypnosis as a form of mind control or entertainment. Hypnotherapy is a serious and respectful practice that aims to help you improve your well-being and quality of life.

What is the most common goal that your clients have when they come to you for hypnotherapy? And how do you help them achieve it?

Most clients simply want to get rid of their problems. Those problems accompany them for so long that they often have a vague picture of how their life could be without them.

They feel out of control as if their mind plays games with them. Also, they think that it is not who they truly are. Therefore, they want to gain understanding and control over their emotions and behavior and be a better version of themselves.

Hypnotherapy can help them achieve this by:

  • identifying the root cause of their problem and releasing any negative emotions or beliefs holding them back

  • installing positive beliefs that support their success

  • gaining understanding and control over their emotions and behavior

  • creating a clear vision of their desired outcome

  • developing new strategies and skills that empower them to manage future challenges or obstacles.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

The most rewarding part of my job is to witness my clients transition from solving a problem towards gaining control of the situation, pursuing personal growth, and enjoying a fulfilling life.

They start appreciating their lives and believing in an appealing vision of their future.

I am deeply grateful for those precious moments in my work.

How do you handle a client who is skeptical about hypnotherapy?

It is not unusual to encounter clients who are skeptical about the effectiveness of hypnosis. I understand their doubts and fears, especially if they have already tried many other methods to solve their problems, and nothing has worked.

A further source of skepticism is misunderstanding what hypnosis is and how it works.

So, education about hypnosis will often be the first step towards a successful course of hypnotherapy. I explain that hypnosis is a natural and powerful way to access the subconscious mind, where most habits, beliefs, emotions, and memories are stored.

The subconscious mind is like a computer running programs influencing our behavior and wellbeing. Most of these programs are beneficial, but some can be outdated and harmful.

And hypnotherapy can access the client's subconscious mind and upgrade it to run smoothly.

Also, I demonstrate to my clients examples of successful cases and testimonials from others who have achieved outstanding results with hypnosis. I answer their questions and address their concerns.

But their own results are the most convincing evidence. When clients start experiencing the changes for the better, skepticism vanishes away. They realize that hypnosis works for them and that they can achieve what they want. They start being enthusiastic about hypnosis and recommend it to their families and friends.

Hypnotherapy has transformed my life and can change yours, too. You can book a call with me if you want to learn more about how hypnotherapy can help you achieve your goals and dreams. I would love to hear from you and support you on your journey.
