Change can be both exhilarating and challenging, and it is essential to equip ourselves with the tools and mindset to not just survive but thrive and shine. It can be tough at times to carry on smiling for the external world, when internally you are feeling worn down, low energy or perhaps a little disconnected from yourself.

In this article, we will uncover three essential ways to prioritize your well-being and cultivate resilience during times of change.

By harnessing the insights and understanding gained from Part One, we will explore practical strategies and empowering perspectives that will enable you to navigate change with confidence.

These essential practices will not only benefit your professional life but also positively impact your personal growth and overall happiness.

1. Prioritize self-care It is non-negotiable, and you deserve it

Amidst change, it's crucial to prioritize self-care.

Think of it like topping up your tank to keep that positive energy flow. Your car won’t drive on empty or without air in tyres – so why would you?

Take a moment to reflect, what brings a smile to your face? A scoop of your favourite ice-cream or that victory dance when you achieve a goal. It could be watching an episode of your favourite series.

Take time for yourself. It is not selfish, it is self-care. Indulge in activities that spark joy. Nurture your mental and emotional well-being. Fuel your body with healthy choices and surround yourself with loved ones of professional when you need support.

By nurturing yourself, you'll be better equipped to navigate the challenges of change with resilience. What works for me, may not work for you. Keep being curious and experimenting until you find something which works for you.

2. Cultivate a positive mindset – Let’s dance with change

Picture this: you’re stepping onto the dance floor of change and the music starts playing. Your mind may say “wait this is new”, but instead of standing on the side lines, you jump in and dance like nobody’s watching!

Our minds are designed to protect us. When we feel a little out of our comfort zones, alarm bells will start to ring. Rather than dwelling on uncertainties or setbacks, focus on the potential benefits and the chance to explore or grow skills we didn’t know we were capable of. Perhaps you will learn something new about yourself that you didn’t know before. Remember life begins at the end of your comfort zone.

Embrace a growth mindset, viewing challenges as opportunities towards personal and professional development. By maintaining a positive outlook, you can navigate change more effectively and maintain a sense of well-being.

3. Build a supportive network – Your tribe

Surround yourself with a supportive network of colleagues, friends, mentors, or coaches who can provide guidance, encouragement, and empathy during times of change. Seek out individuals who have experienced similar transitions and can share their wisdom, strategies or quirky moves.

Your own dream team, your tribe who have got your back – no matter what. They will be cheerleaders when you are nailing it and compassionate listeners when you need an ear.

By building a supportive network, you create a sense of belonging and foster resilience, they will be the wind beneath your wings during those moments of uncertainty or doubt.
