Susanna Kenyon-Muir, Life & Career Coach

Who is Susanna and what is your business?

As the visionary behind 'Coaching by Susanna,' she not only provides expert coaching but also amplifies inspiring success stories through her podcast; 'On Being You – with Susanna.' She has recently launched wellness retreats designed to empower individuals in crafting their ideal lives.

Susanna firmly believes that everyone has the power to create a life and career they are passionate about, guided by clear intentions, the right mindset, and the determination to turn their goals into reality.

Her coaching business, Coaching by Susanna, helps individuals through 1:1 coaching 6-month programmes, a coaching journal ‘Intentions’ and soon to be launched a group programme called ‘The Intentions Accelerator’.

What propelled you to take the leap from the corporate sector to becoming a life and career coach?

For the past 15+ years she has worked in the corporate world for some incredible companies such as Citrix, VMWare, Salesforce, and WalkMe to name a few, helping companies and individuals succeed in their digital transformation journeys. It’s through her own journey of self-discovery, and wanting to understand ‘who am I’, that she recognised she loved helping PEOPLE, the people behind these companies to realise their wants and desires and to achieve their desired outcomes from a place of knowledge and awareness.

She’s a big believer that when you know who you are, what you desire and love, and what you’re good at, then you can create a life you’re excited about, day in and day out.

This is why she is so passionate about helping people find their voice and who they are.

She now lives, works and travels around the globe helping corporate professionals through her tailored 1:1 coaching programs and wellness retreats.

Was there an event in your life that changed your direction towards becoming a coach?

Yes! There were several defining moments. 3 to be exact that set me on this path. Being in boarding school at the early age of 13 I remember wondering what made certain children popular versus others not. I wondered why I struggled to make friends, and why I was shy and awkward around boys. I was intrigued by human dynamics at that rife age. I also remember in my mid-20s wondering what my real purpose was. At the time I was working in tech and loving my career but I knew there was more to my life than being a tech professional forever. I started getting curious about what I wanted to do, but it was only when I moved to London in my early 30’s and came across a lady who became my first coach that I started to become aware of who I was and the repeat patterns that were holding me back in my life. The more I got into my own journey and breakthroughs, the more I got closer to who I was and what I desired in my life whilst addressing triggers, conflict and patterns of self-worth and anxiety that kept creeping in. In parallel, I started coaching clients at my previous corporate job and externally with private clients. I just loved the experience of helping people and realised I had been doing this for most of my adult life, just informally with friends.

Fast forward to 2022, my mum went through cancer and unfortunately passed away in December of that year. It made me realise even more that time is precious and to really prioritise the things and people that you love. That’s what catapulted me to be intentional about my life and go all into creating and running my own business in coaching and retreats, because it’s what I love doing. And traveling! Adventure is a core value of mine so I now travel and run my business from anywhere in the world.

What do you love about being a coach?

At the core of it, I love helping people change a part, or all, of their life that causes them to fall in love with themselves, their career, what they do, and their life. Seeing someone live a life filled with love and happiness because they invested in themselves to make a change is the most illuminating thing for me. I love inspiring people through stories, whether it’s sharing the challenges and growth I have been through or that of people I interview to help others is immensely rewarding.

I learn so much through my clients too and love the connections and friendships that have formed through coaching.

What’s your secret sauce for helping people?

My approach is simple yet effective; through a 6 step approach, I help my clients reflect on where they are today, get clear on what they desire and want in their life and career, connect with who they are, work through what’s holding you back, set powerful intentions and visualise and set clear goals that propel you towards your vision for life. My journal and program is called ‘Intentions’ and ‘Intentions’ Accelerator’ because it’s about being intentional about your life, and creating it from a place of awareness and intention. So often we find ourselves reacting to life, but the great thing is we get to choose and be intentional about our lives.

What advice would you give someone that’s thinking about making a change in their life?

Apply the above 6 step approach. Get really clear about what it is that you want, not what anyone else wants, and identify anything that’s holding you back. Work with a coach or mentor who can hold up a mirror to help you go inwards and get that clarity whilst helping to keep you accountable towards your goals.
