Some books are written by the mind, and some are whispered into our hearts onto the paper. Those coming from the heart are rare and precious. They have the power to transform our lives at a deeper level. The books listed in this article changed my perspective and were introduced to me at the time I needed them the most. They move us, they teach us, they question what we already know. They are beacons of love and empowerment.

A book gifted by a woman to a woman
When I was in my early twenties, my mum’s friend, whom I had never met, gave her a book as a gift for me. It was ‘Women Who Love Too Much by Robin Norwood’. I read the book in one sitting. As I read, I couldn’t believe how much she seemed to know about me and that there were other women like me. The most important thing I took away from the book was the understanding that dysfunctional behavioral patterns are unconsciously transferred from parent to child. This was a wake-up call for me. Having been raised in a family affected by alcohol addiction, I was afraid that I might unconsciously pass on the ‘virus’ of my family’s dysfunction. This realization led me to decide to join a therapy group for adult children of alcoholics.
The power of subconscious mind in the fear pandemic
It was the year 2020. My husband and kids were sitting in the living room. The TV was off. I looked toward the bookshelf beside our fireplace. Something told me to choose a book to read, although I hadn’t been reading anything recently. I was too tired, my days were spent working at a job I hated and preparing for college exams. I was feeling unsafe, unfulfilled, and taken for granted both at work and at home. There was no time to read except that day. It was quiet, there was nowhere to go and nothing to do. I grabbed ‘The Power of Your Subconscious Mind’ by Joseph Murphy. Every evening in bed, my husband and I read it out loud. The words in the book reminded us that we have the power to change our lives and that we don’t need to fear external factors. We are the creators of our reality. Reading together was sacred, our relationship step by step was being rebuilt after challenges.
Is God speaking to me?
One day, a friend from work, knowing that I am into spirituality and trauma healing, asked if I had read ‘Conversations with God’ by Neale Donald Walsch. The title seemed intriguing, so I decided to buy it. What did I learn? That the opposite of love is fear, not hatred, as I had thought. I was deeply touched by the words channeled by Neale. God is speaking to us all the time. He speaks through the people we meet and the situations we encounter, only when we are aware of this language can we recognize that He guides and helps us. It all made sense. Meeting God through the lens of this book made me feel guided, safer, and loved.
I am here because I chose to
The next realization through a book happened to me around 2022. Michael Newton’s ‘Journey of Souls: Case Studies of Life Between the Lives’ changed my perspective on what life is. Under hypnosis, people describe the process of choosing, while being in between lives, the life they want, the lessons they want to learn, and the souls who help achieve those goals. The soul’s blueprint provided a new outlook on my childhood, my bullies, and obstacles. I learned to forgive others, knowing that they agreed to be helpers in my lesson here on Earth. We are all asleep, taking seriously what’s happening to us. What if we wake up and see the dream as a dream?
What if ‘I am’ is a code you can crack?
‘The Code of I Am’ by Eleanora Heart came to me when I was stuck. I was in a transitional phase of my life, trying to figure out where to go next and, most importantly, how to get there. It wasn’t until I finished reading the book that I realized how crucial it is to define my own ‘I am.’ This is not just about knowing myself better but about opening the door to receiving abundance and divine guidance. You see, when you truly recognize who you are, you begin to receive from the universe. Imagine asking for money, but your inner ‘I am’ statement is, “I am not worthy.” This belief becomes a hidden factor that influences how your request is answered. The power of the ‘I am’ shapes your reality, acts like a lens through which your desires materialize or are blocked. Defining and aligning your ‘I am’ with your highest truth is the key to manifesting what you truly want in life.
Your inner power is waiting to be remembered
What if the book you need is already waiting for you on a shelf somewhere, calling you through an invisible thread? What if your healing journey, like mine, is meant to be guided by words whispered from someone else's heart directly into yours? These five books were my teachers when I needed them most, and I trust that yours are finding their way to you, too. In the meantime, if you want to dive deeper into the healing practices, spiritual insights, and conscious living tools that transformed my life from victimhood to empowerment, I invite you to listen to my podcast, UR a CURE: Inner Power. Let's continue this conversation because your inner power is waiting to be remembered, and I'd be honored to walk that path with you.
