When I chose “Bold” as my word for 2025, I knew it would stretch me. What I didn’t expect was how soon I’d be tested. Boldness isn’t something I naturally associate with myself, especially not when it comes to being in front of the camera. Despite my background as a dancer and theater major, where the spotlight was unavoidable, I’ve always felt a quiet resistance to being photographed. There’s a vulnerability in letting yourself be seen.

And that’s why this snowy photoshoot, just me, my iPhone, a tripod, and a pair of red Hunter boots, felt like the perfect place to start.

I had a vision: all-white against the snow, with my red boots as the bold pop of color. But as plans often go, reality had other ideas. My white cable-knit sweater was too thin for such a cold day, and I couldn’t find the white leggings I had imagined. So, I adjusted. I layered black underneath, threw on my off-white coat, and tied it together with a muted eggshell scarf.

At first, I was disappointed. It wasn’t the clean, monochromatic image I had envisioned. But as I clicked the shutter and peeked at the images, I noticed something unexpected: the black-and-white contrast felt honest and comforting. And the red boots? They were a bold splash of energy against the soft, muted tones.

That’s when it hit me. This is what boldness often looks like—not the perfect vision we imagine, but the beauty of adjusting and leaning into what is.

And that’s where I find myself as I step into this new year. Boldness, for me, is less about choosing black or white, either/or. It’s about embracing the “both/and.” It’s about the grey area where things don’t have to be perfect to be beautiful. It’s about finding balance, making adjustments, and leaning into that messy middle ground where the magic really happens.

“The space between black and white is where stories live. Just like your fitness journey exists between ‘before’ and ‘after.’”

For women like us, those who navigate busy lives, manage priorities, and strive for big goals, this grey area is where transformation truly happens. Boldness isn’t about perfection or grand gestures. It’s about creating balance, finding alignment, and being honest about what we want.

That’s why I developed The Breakthrough Method: 5 Steps to a Healthier You, a simple, sustainable framework for creating lasting change without overwhelm. These steps are designed to help you reflect, refocus, and realign so you can move through life’s grey areas with clarity, confidence, and consistency.

Here’s how it works

1. Building your journey

Key Question: What traits shape your approach to fitness and wellness?

Coach's Connection: Start where you are and stay true to who you are. Aligning your journey with your unique identity makes success feel natural not forced.

2. Clarifying your why

Key Question: Why is this goal fundamental to you?

Coach's Connection: Your “why” is the fuel that keeps you moving forward, even when the results don’t show up right away. Tap into your deeper purpose it’s your secret weapon for long-term progress.

3. Focus

Key Question: What’s one goal you can focus on right now that will make the most significant impact?

Coach's Connection: Simplify to amplify. By focusing on one goal, you’ll build the momentum that carries you toward all the others.

4. Alignment

Key Question: How can you adjust your fitness goals to fit your current lifestyle?

Coach's Connection: When your fitness goals align with your life, you stop feeling like a burden and start feeling like a gift you’ve given yourself.

5. Building your dream team

Key Question: Who can support and hold you accountable on this journey?

Coach's Connection: You don’t have to do it alone. The right support system will keep you accountable and remind you that your boldness inspires others.

What bold step will you take?
