  • DISCover What Makes You Tick: Extended DISC – Your Key to Unlock the Mysteries of Human Behavior

Written by: Alyson Williams, Executive Contributor Executive Contributors at Brainz Magazine are handpicked and invited to contribute because of their knowledge and valuable insight within their area of expertise. There are many tools, mechanisms, and instruments that measure human behavior or ‘personality .’ Most personality tests are quite limited in the scope of flexibility they measure. Extended DISC (E-DISC), on the other hand, is a behavioral analysis tool that is used to identify an individual’s natural strengths (captain energies) in whichever of the four energy categories is relevant: Dominance, Influence, Steadiness and Compliance, the initials of each energy is what gives the tool its name. E-DISC also indicates to individuals those behavioral characteristics that are not in their natural disposition (non-captain energies). Therefore, it requires greater effort to produce. Most people have two or three captain energies, less than one percent of the population has only one captain energy, and no one has all four captain energies. Personality tests tend to only provide a binary analysis of attributes (i.e., are/aren’t within an individual’s makeup) . They also tend to be static. E-DISC, on the other hand, is much more dynamic. It gives an individual the confidence to understand themselves more fully with the realization that while producing their captain (natural) energy behavior styles (their profile) is almost effortless, the ones which are not part of their profile, their non-captains , (which other tools often categorize as deficiencies or weaknesses,) can still be accessed . The E-DISC premise is that our non-captain energy behaviors (our so-called weaknesses) are quite accessible, the difference being that those behaviors require greater effort and intellectual/physical/emotional energy to produce. This information gives an individual the golden key, as it were, to understand themselves and navigate all areas of their life using their captain energies to the fullest; and equally to accessing and managing their non-captains when required. Applications of E-DISC E-DISC has many applications . It can be used for personal and professional development. In workplaces, it can be utilized for a variety of purposes such as recruitment, motivation, performance reviews, leadership development, self-development, and change management, to name a few. This framework also allows management to assess the suitability of its employees' roles and the need for redeployment or upskilling, making changes where appropriate. If operating in an environment of high stress, E-DISC can become a powerful and objective basis upon which to have a conversation with workers, address areas of concern, or re-assign tasks and duties, and possibly have them seek coaching, mentoring, or guidance. On a personal level, E-DISC helps individuals assess various aspects of their current situation and take any necessary action to improve . By understanding their captains and non-captains, a person now understands what drives their behavior and can use this knowledge to determine their behavioral choices, thus, achieve greater levels of success across all aspects of their life. E-DISC can also be used for couples in relationship counseling . In western democracies today, in contrast with previous decades, there is a greater move towards celebrating diversity and acknowledging the complete individual - not just their strengths but also their potential to reduce and/or overcome their weaknesses. E-DISC is a versatile mechanism that provides just such analysis, with applications for both a person’s professional and personal life. History of E-DISC E-DISC is based on Jungian research. DISC was first developed in the US in 1928 by Prof William Moulton Marston, who, incidentally, also developed the lie detector test and created Wonder Woman (the only ‘person’ deemed to have all four captain energies in her profile). DISC was further developed in the 1950s, and in 1994 E-DISC was created by Jukka Sappinen in Finland. E-DISC is an internationally accredited and administered test on the Finx online platform and can only be accessed by accredited E-DISC practitioners on behalf of their clients. Its reliability is verified and validated every two years. • Railway Lamb curry

Written by: Stefania Piccardo, Executive Contributor Executive Contributors at Brainz Magazine are handpicked and invited to contribute because of their knowledge and valuable insight within their area of expertise. This renowned iconic dish of Indian cuisine still surprises us today for its simplicity and for its robust spicy taste. But why is it called Railway Lamb curry? This special dish finds its roots in the colonial era when in the late 19th century and early 1900's, the chefs used to cook on the railways during long journeys on the trains. It actually started in the far 1857, when an engineer called Robert Maitland Brerenton was ordered to build the most extensive network of railways all over India to connect this huge and amazing country from end to end to facilitate commerce but mostly to speed up otherwise exhausting and endless trips up and down the country. The 6,400km network would have a high impact on the hospitality industry, but also it was a milestone in creating culinary memories for both British and Indians alike for generations. in fact, as the railway journeys were very popular among the British upper classes, the trains were fully equipped with restaurants, chefs, butlers, waiters ready to serve and impress the aristocratic British colonialists. It wasn't until the Frontier mail (Golden temple mail after independence) that the restaurant on wheels upped its game with inimitable recipes and luxurious facilities such as a shower, bedrolls, and even a steam room! Inaugurating its journey in 1928, it used to connect Bomabi to Peshawar, in the North west India at the time (today in Pakistan). The Golden temple mail still runs today from Mumbai (Maharashtra) to Amritsar in Punjab where, thanks to the Golden temple, takes its name. Since then Railway lamb curry has kept its name in memory of the colonial era and it is still enjoyed by all until today. Interesting facts: The Allahabad-Jabalpur branch line of the East Indian Railway that opened in June 1867 was the first of Brereton’s 6,400 km rail network. Officially opened on 7 March 1870, it became the inspiration for French writer Jules Verne’s book Around the World in Eighty Days. Follow me on Instagram, LinkedIn and visit my website for more info! • What no One Told You About Procrastination – That Will Cause You to Stop Doing it Now

Written by: Lynn MacDonald, Executive Contributor Executive Contributors at Brainz Magazine are handpicked and invited to contribute because of their knowledge and valuable insight within their area of expertise. Are you a procrastinator? Imagine, at the end of this blog, your misunderstanding of procrastination will be clear. You will see it for what it REALLY is, and the “problem” won’t look or feel like one anymore. This isn’t another blog that will give you advice, tools, tips, or techniques. Instead, I will point you in a new direction of truth, the missing puzzle piece you didn’t know was missing. It'll be an understanding of how reality already works and the way we believe it works. If you are like most people, you feel like procrastination is part of your personality, or something may be wrong with you. No worries, I have your back. You, like every human, are fundamentally well. Who said procrastination is a problem? Procrastination ONLY happens because of an innocent misunderstanding of what it is not. A list of advice and tips I’ve run into as there is no shortage of how to stop procrastinating: Stop and figure out WHY you procrastinate Put the task on the top of your to-do list Wait until you are in the right mood Focus on long-term happiness Tackle the most important task Break your work into little steps You’re afraid of failure Set a deadline The good news, procrastination isn’t a real “problem.” Though it may look like your “To-Do List” is the cause of procrastination, which is 100% impossible for the feelings of procrastination to come from the list, it only feels that way. To-Do List Release new program offering by Friday Begin writing the first chapter of your book Write one blog weekly Set up a morning mindset routine Workout Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for 30-minutes Here’s a crash course of how reality already works (from the inside-out) and the way we believe it works. 1. The feeling of procrastinating is made up of human contamination of insecure thinking, nothing else. It is an innocent misuse of the Power of Thought. Refer to my link from a previous post. 2. When you have procrastinating thinking, you feel the temporary experience of procrastination move through you. 3. You and every human are always and ONLY feeling your thinking. We always live and experience life via our thinking, nothing else, not from any outside circumstances. We are made one way, to live in the feeling of our thinking, no exceptions. 4. The BEST part, thought, is temporary, passing, transitory, and fleeting; you can have the experience without it having you. There’s nothing to do with it. It will pass when you don’t resist. 5. If you are not thinking about procrastination, you are not feeling it. We live in a thought-created reality and feel our thinking, not circumstances. Though when you don’t know where feelings come from, you will innocently point outside for a reason. 6. Here is the GOLD, feelings of procrastination (and all insecure thinking) have nothing to do with you. All insecure feelings are impersonal and only give you information regarding the level of thinking (mental weather) you are in at any given moment. That’s it. 7. Insecure feelings don’t give you any information about you personally on what you can or can’t do. They don’t give you any information about who you are as a person. 8. The real purpose of insecure feelings is to alert you to get back into the flowing river of life toward innate mental health. There’s NO need to ask WHY you feel this way or poke around the content of insecure thinking. The mind then only makes up more story, and you are down the usual rinse and repeat suffer cycle caused ONLY by thinking about your thinking. 9. When you are back in the flowing river of life, you live from your innate well-being. It’s always there. You know the glimpses you’ve had of living in a good feeling? That’s what happens when you live BEYOND THE CONTENT OF INSECURE THINKING. 10. Living from that place of well-being, procrastination, or any non-serving habits don’t live there. It’s from this place you live and breathe from truth. Label-living doesn’t exist when you are living from a good feeling, in the river of flow. Life feels easier when you are in the flow, a perfect place to create and grow a thriving business, procrastination-free! As you continue to see (through awareness) that you are of a busy mind, the mind naturally clears on its’ own. They're nothing to do. The mind’s natural state is clarity. That is what it is designed to do. When the snow globe of thought settles, clarity happens. Instead of speeding up to thought, you are slowing down to the speed of life, in the moment of reality, instead of the soap opera drama of procrastination. See it for yourself, be an explorer, and experience life happening through you. During the course of a day, have you completed a range of tasks effortlessly? Then the next day, do those same tasks feel difficult, and you are procrastinating doing them? Your experience changes when your thinking has changed. Do you sometimes feel happy on a sunny day, and sometimes you feel sad on a sunny day? Do you wake up one morning in a low mood and the next morning in a higher mood? Your experience changes when your thinking has changed. Thought is the only thing you ever experience, always and only temporary, nothing to resists when you know what it is. You can’t feel your habit or commentary people say to you. You can only feel your thinking about those things. I hope your lenses of misperception have been cleared, and you see procrastination for what it really is. If you want to see more on how reality already works, click here and see my previous blog. • 3 Strategies to Achieve Success in Your Life

Written by: Diane Forster, Executive Contributor Executive Contributors at Brainz Magazine are handpicked and invited to contribute because of their knowledge and valuable insight within their area of expertise. We all have the power to deliberately create in our lives. When I’m working with clients one on one, I’m speaking, or I’m hosting my webinars, I do so much work around living intentionally and the art of manifestation. To do that, we need to first know our desired outcome in every situation. How can we possibly know where we are going if we don’t create an outcome and set the intentions to get there? We need to know this because we don’t get to the end (our goal) from the same state that we started. We need a strategy! “If you don’t have a strategy for your life, how can it improve?” Manifesting, outcomes and setting intentions “shows up” in every area of our life. Once we realize that, we can then figure out how to set powerful intentions all day long to reach our desired outcomes in EVERY SITUATION. We should be focused on outcomes and setting intentions in everything we do in our day. When we get out of bed what do we do first, when we brush our teeth, when we eat breakfast, do we watch the news or read the newspaper? When we get to work, what do we plan to accomplish on that day, that week, that month, that quarter, that year? What about diet and exercise? What are your desired weight and fitness goals? We should be thinking about our intentions to achieve our outcomes all day long! This sounds like a lot of planning, doesn’t it? The truth is it’s not complicated at all. It’s like training a muscle to work for you. It only feels strange when you first start doing it. Once you create the habit, it becomes second nature. The meaning of “intention” is purpose. It is an act or instance of determining mentally upon some action or result. The “outcome” is the end result, or consequence. Our lives all have meaning and purpose. One of our purposes is to live the best life we can possibly live. With our limited time here in the human experience, I believe in “squeezing the juice out of each day.” That means that every second you are alive counts. Therefore, you want everything you do to be with purpose, intention, and to have a desired outcome. Here are three EASY steps to achieve any outcome. I say “easy” because I believe that life is supposed to be easy. The tricky part is in following through. But, once you read how simple this is to do, it is my firm belief that you will be manifesting and creating your desired outcomes like crazy! At least, that is my hope for you! STEP 1: Think about what you want To figure out the outcome, you MUST know what you want first and write it down! Put it in your journal or a special notebook titled “My Dream Life”…or, you can use the title on the cover of the journals I give my clients and customers that say “I Get Everything I Want! Thank You!” Here are some examples: To be in a loving relationship. To be a millionaire. To travel the world. To have financial freedom. To be a mom. To be in a job you love. To get along with your spouse, kids, parents, etc. To have more fun! To be more organized. To be less stressed. To be more present in your life. To be happier and experience more joy in your life. Then, spend some time thinking about and writing WHY you want it…NOT how you are going to get it. Just focus on the WHY. (It’ll make me feel good; I’ll have so much fun; it makes me happy; I love doing things like that; I get so much satisfaction, etc.) The point here is to focus on the way it makes you FEEL. If you follow along any of my work or teachings, then you know that everything we ever want or desire is because we think it will make us FEEL BETTER. STEP 2: Figure out where you are When you decide that you want a certain outcome, it’s because you’re not happy with your current condition or circumstances. In order to get from point A to point B, you need to figure out where you are in relation to what you want. The key here is to PUT A “BY WHEN” DATE NEXT TO EACH OUTCOME. Here are some examples: I want to weigh 10 pounds less in 60 days from now. I will be in a committed relationship by the end of this summer. I will be saving an extra $500/month starting with my next paycheck. I will be in a new job by the end of this year. I will get out of this relationship and be independent and on my own by October 1. I will write my book in the next 90 days. We will go to a new country on vacation for the holidays this year. If you don’t put a goal date down, it will never get done! Trust me, you NEED that end goal date in mind! Otherwise, your goal stays in a place I call “The Land of Ambiguity” …never to be accomplished. You need the deadline. STEP 3: Reverse-engineer your strategy . In my “30 Day Challenge On How To Have a Better TODAY,” I asked you to reverse-engineer an unplanned vacation on your calendar. It’s the same concept here, but now I want you to do this for all of the outcomes you want to achieve. The weight loss, the new job, falling in love, saving money. BREAK IT DOWN backwards from your deadline to TODAY! If it’s 10 pounds in two months, that’s a pound a week. If it’s $500 per month more in savings, that breaks down to $16.67 per day. Get out the calculator, do some core math, and figure it out! Create the strategies. When you break out it this simplistically, you will see how EASY it is to achieve your outcomes! Then, and only then, can you know your daily intentions! Don’t you just love this?!? Here is a BONUS STRATEGY: Write this formula on post-it notes and put them all over your home and workspace: M + I = O This stands for: MOVEMENT TOWARDS MY INTENTIONS DELIVERS ME MY OUTCOMES! I am a big believer in mantras and affirmations. If this helps you remember every day, then please use it! This whole process is all about Intentional Living. If you take the time to figure out what you want and why, then you figure out where you are, then you reverse-engineer your strategy, imagine the FOCUS and CLARITY you are going to be feeling every day! You will spend so much of your time feeling like your life is on track, you know what you want and where you’re going, and you know exactly how you’ll get there. Because of all of that, you will be FEELING SO GOOD and PROUD OF YOURSELF! Here’s the MAGICAL part...when we feel so good anyway, we don’t even NEED the manifestation or outcome to come to us. And THAT is the moment it shows up! Awesome! Awesome! Awesome! Have fun with this! It’s your life, enjoy the intentional ride! Here are three Affirmation Statements you can use based on my teachings of Love It! Thank It! Bring It! (I’ll write about that in a future article): LOVE IT!:: I LOVE SETTING INTENTIONS FOCUSED ON MY DAILY OUTCOMES! THANK IT!: I AM SO GRATEFUL FOR THE CLARITY OF MY FOCUS AND GOALS! • Meet Serial Entrepreneur & Senior Management Consultant Kristian Elmefall – Innovation Expert

Kristian is a Swedish serial entrepreneur and senior management consultant, with a double degree in Executive MBA and computer science. Kristian has gathered experience in innovation and business from a large number of industries and companies of all sizes over the last 20 years. As co-founder of the consultant firm LEAPS, is he now helping customers to understand how the industries that the customers are operating in is evolving, how to stay relevant and competitive under those circumstances, and how to set up an innovation process to secure reoccurring innovations in line with the company’s strategy. Introduce yourself. Who is Kristian? I am 43 years old and live with my wife and my son of six years, in a small town in southern Sweden called Växjö. I have a background in IT, but also have an executive MBA from the Stockholm School of Economics. I have worked as a consultant for 20 years in all different kinds of industries and with companies of all sizes. Through this work, I have gathered experience extremely valuable when I work with my customers. Now, however, I work mostly data-driven and try to teach my customers to do the same. This means that we look at behaviors and numbers to understand how the world works today so that successful innovations can be developed, instead of, like many, just making assumptions about what works. You work at LEAPS as a Senior Management Consultant. What is LEAPS, and what are you doing? LEAPS is a consulting company employing the founders, three innovation experts, who help their clients to create innovative organizations. We see that many industries are facing a major change and that many of the companies in these industries have no way of creating recurring innovation, so there is an imminent risk that they will go into reconstruction, bankruptcy, or be acquired cheaply. Therefore, many companies are in desperate need to be able to create recurring innovations and we help out with that. We create a process where the organization can continuously capture ideas and create innovations. You have led several "Light House Projects." What is that? Lighthouse projects are projects that serve as a guiding light for an organization when it's in transformation. It acts as a template, and other parts of the organization can look at how they did in the "Lighthouse project" to manage the organization to transform and thus get tips and structural capital. You have also lectured a lot. What are you lecturing on, who is the lecture aimed at? I lecture widely within the innovation space, as I see it as my mission to make Sweden more innovative. I lecture at universities, for business organizations, and in open lectures for companies. Education is also part of my consultancy services, as I coach and train companies or individuals at companies in innovation tools and processes. What is it with innovation that attracts so much? In the world we live in, which is developing so fast, innovation is a must for virtually all organizations. Many organizations have arisen with an individual innovation or that they have exploited a supply deficit, and since then, they have exploited that innovation or opportunity. That is no longer sufficient. You need to innovate continuously to survive and very few organizations have that ability, so I want to help them so that they can continue to exist and be profitable. Do you have a particular dream job? I have my dream job now. I make individuals and organizations more innovative. It's great fun to work with companies that are trying to create new things. At LEAPS, we also work in various state-funded projects at a much lower hourly rate so that startups and new entrepreneurs have the opportunity to gain from our experience and competence, which is very stimulating. What will you be able to contribute? What can our readers expect from the content you will provide? I try to help readers by educating them on different tools, understanding the challenges of innovation, and how to create a process that provides recurring innovations. Stay tuned for Kristian's upcoming articles! For more information, visit LEAPS and connect with Kristian on LinkedIn !

  • The Universe Doesn't Give You What You Want – It Gives You Who You Are Being

Written by: Susan Francis, Executive Contributor Executive Contributors at Brainz Magazine are handpicked and invited to contribute because of their knowledge and valuable insight within their area of expertise. There are a lot of misconceptions about manifestation, and one of the biggest ones is that once you declare something to the universe and “hand it over,” then the universe is lining it up and bringing it to you in divine timing. So the waiting game begins. It sounds a bit like, “It’s all good. The universe knows what I want. My dream home, business, man, money, body, they are all coming. I just have to be patient and wait for divine timing.” Sorry. Nope. Not happening. The universe is NOT bringing you what you want. The universe/God/Source energy (whatever you like to call it) doesn't speak English, or any other language for that matter. It speaks vibration. We live in a vibrational universe. Put your hand under a microscope that's powerful enough, and you’ll see that you are literally vibrating. Your cells are always moving. You are in a constant state of vibration. So, what the heck is the universe delivering into your experience?? What you are a match to, that's what. What you are actually asking for, which is often not what you are wanting. It’s delivering what you are focusing on, thinking about, believing, expecting. How you feel about what you want is your indication of what is coming. Want to double the income in your business in the next 2 months? Find the man of your dreams? Manifest your dream home? Cool. It can be yours. We can literally create anything we want. Anything. How do you feel about that? Are you excited, expectant, super pumped for the next level knowing that it's already yours and expecting it all to unfold? Or are you in doubt, worrying, stressing, wondering how the heck you are going to make that happen, and feeling like it's hard? The universe is simply reflecting to you who you are being. Are you showing up as the woman that already has the next level in her business/ dream man/ dream home? Are you feeling like her, acting like her, expecting results like her? Or are you looking for evidence that things are working out before you believe it’s possible? If you’re not creating what you want in your life, then you are not a match to receiving it. Period. You haven't been embodying it. The universe is not testing you, and there is no divine timing. Divine timing is just when you DECIDE. No one or nothing else is holding it back from you while you jump through hoops to prove yourself. When you decide you are going all in, when you decide what you are having, and when you decide you are letting go of all of the stories/thoughts/beliefs that tell you why you can't have it, that is when it comes. If you want a different reality, you need to make some powerful decisions and decide what you are a match to, and when you do that, your reality can shift overnight. Here’s one example of how this played out in my life before I even knew about manifestation. After 5 years of being single, attracting the wrong sort of guys, focusing on what wasn't working, and believing there were “no good ones left,” I made 1 powerful decision, and my reality completely shifted within 6 weeks. I decided, of course, I could find love. Of course, in a country of 28 million people, there had to be one guy that was a match for me. Of course, I was worthy of love. Of course, an amazing guy would want to be with me. Of course. Of course. Of course. I shifted my focus, my energy, and how I showed up. I took some different actions. I joined a dating site. I went on one date. I met an amazing man. Two dates in, we both knew. Four weeks in, we had planned a trip to New York together. Three months in, we were talking about having babies. One year in, we moved in together. Eight years later, one beautiful little girl, and many adventures later, we are still very much in love. When you embody the version of you that already has what you desire, your reality completely shifts. You change your point of attraction. You vibrate a new energy, and the universe delivers what you are a match to. The universe will give you what you are thinking, feeling, and focusing on every single time. Here’s your work: Decide what you want. Clear any resistance (limiting thoughts/beliefs/stories). Embody the next level version of you and show up as her now. Take inspired action. The universe will deliver. Every. Single. Time. If you’re ready to embody the next-level version of yourself and manifest your desires now, then my Becoming ALL of you mini-training bundle will do exactly that. Access it here. • 6 Bulletproof Steps To Choose The Best Coach For Your Needs

Written by: Greta Konstantine, Executive Contributor Executive Contributors at Brainz Magazine are handpicked and invited to contribute because of their knowledge and valuable insight within their area of expertise. Choosing a coach is a very private and important step in your professional development. I've heard of a lot of my clients and other people I have talked about coaching with, that they have experienced less than a satisfying service from coaches. One in particular stood up. I was expanding my network in entrepreneurial Facebook groups. I was scrolling down the page and looking for something to peak my interest. And soon, my wishes were fulfilled. Though, to be honest, my interest was caught because I was shocked at what ended up to be the reason for this post's existence. This post was made by a woman asking ''Can anyone recommend me a coach?'' At that point, I needed more information, so I started scrolling through the comments. What was happening with this post was that almost every coach who saw that post has started commenting on how they are the right coach and what they do. I decided to take a different approach. Instead of telling the woman I'm a mindset and a success coach for entrepreneurs and how I coach, and blah, blah, blah, I just commented... ''I'd love to see if I can help you, or if I know someone who can, but first, I'd really need more info on what it is you would like help with.'' She approached me the same day. When I started trying to get to know her and her story... She told me that her previous coach badly burned her. Briefly, here's what she shared with me. She explained that she used to have a coach. They went through interviews to get to know the situation. The coach has engaged with helping her. She said she had paid the coach. And the top of the cherry, that soon after they started the coaching process together, this coach has told her he/she can't help her and has discontinued their agreement out of the blue... Without even reimbursing her the money she paid for the whole coaching service! So here is what I would like you to take out from this article. Getting a coach is a great choice when you need help. But before you settle on a coach, think and evaluate that person and their performance rationally, and try not to be blinded by marketing tricks. Also, ask your potential coach questions about what he/she thinks about your situation. You have the same right to ask a coach questions, as the coach has the right to gather as much useful information on your case as possible. So here's the 6 steps on how to choose the right coach to work with: Step 1: Think about what you need help with Step 2: Find few coaches in that field. Step 3: Research well Step 4: Be rational and systematic in your choice Step 5: Contact the people you know they have coached Step 6: Contact the coach, if they are still eligible in your opinion by the time you get to step 6 I want to leave you with this. When you make choices to improve yourself or your business or life, NEVER decide based on emotions and hype. Give yourself a minute to calm down and re-center, and then make the decision. Nothing is now or never. You have time to choose wisely. For more details and other business strategies for success, follow me on Facebook or Instagram , or visit my website ! Read more from Greta ! • Harassment & Technology – Part 2

Written by: Motti Wein, Executive Contributor Executive Contributors at Brainz Magazine are handpicked and invited to contribute because of their knowledge and valuable insight within their area of expertise. "Harassment" is perhaps the most feared word in business today. Each Human Resources department worldwide invests countless hours and dollars into training and other preventive measures to avoid it. What if there is a much cheaper and less time-consuming way to protect oneself and one's business from harassment difficulties? Last issue I spoke about being on a “last-name-basis” in all business relationships. This ensures the business relationship remains purely business. This issue, I would like to focus on technology. Few would even think of bringing a member of the opposite gender into bed or the bathroom with them with their own spouses nearby—I hope that even without their spouses nearby, yet with the smartphone, that is exactly what is being done today. Most businesses today rely on the smartphone to answer emails and do other business-related tasks at all needed times, even if away from their desks. The downside is this creates a deep culture of familiarity between business associates where they engage in conversation together in places where previous generations would have never. As discussed last issue, familiarity is the key thing to avoid at work. One of my Torah teachers, Rabbi Shmuel Neiman shlita, recommended a simple yet powerful solution: There should be a “no communication” policy between co-workers beginning at a certain time each evening. This policy would last through the following morning. For example, beginning at 8:30 pm, one would cease communicating with co-workers through the following morning, thereby freeing one up to focus on their own family for at least a couple of hours each evening. Another possible solution is to allow our spouses access to all of our electronic communication, which would serve as a powerful deterrent knowing that nothing is guaranteed safe from their eyes. My wife has access to all of my emails & texts while I have access to hers, and this we found works beautifully. It must be emphasized that if a spouse shares access to the other’s electronic communication, the same rules of privacy that apply to the worker must also apply to the spouse. Lastly, one should accustom themselves to be as curt and short as possible in all electronic communication. Smiley emojis, heart emojis, “LOL,” “OMG,” and the like are not professional. I prefer, where possible, to even avoid, “How are you?” Get straight to the point. Electronic communication is to convey information, not feelings. • Are You Speaking The Same Language?

Written by: Gina Marie Cassano, Executive Contributor Executive Contributors at Brainz Magazine are handpicked and invited to contribute because of their knowledge and valuable insight within their area of expertise. Are people listening when you speak? Are they really hearing you? Are you getting your point across without confusion? Having healthy conversations with friends, family, significant others, colleagues, employees, strangers, or whomever, is truly amazing! It’s not easy, but it’s certainly possible! To me, what’s most interesting about communication is not only what it is but also how it’s done. Do you say what you mean? Are you telling them, asking, or simply discussing your thoughts and ideas? How does the other person receive what you’re saying (or not saying/non-verbal)? What’s the intention behind the point you want to get across? What do you want to accomplish? Is the body language, and tone consistent with the words? It’s an endless discussion simply because there are many ways of communicating, and there are many ways of receiving it! So how do we know what to do and how to do it? We pay attention, listen to understand, and learn by asking thought-provoking questions! That’s how. First, let’s look into ourselves. What’s your own perception of your reality? How do you view the people around you and the world? What are your morals and values? What experiences did you have that shaped who you’ve become? All of this makeup who we are, what we believe (mindset), and how we behave. Our perception is our own reality…but are they the same realities as someone else…? Most likely not. So now what? Well, there’s more than just me in my life, so what about others? My family, team, significant other, my friends, the community? What do I believe is the greater good, or do I? What’s best for us as a whole? How do we balance our own morals and values with others; respectfully? Do we have the same vision and goals? When was the last time you actually took a minute to reflect on building better relationships? Did you know that the environment in which we live also impacts our perception and how we communicate? Consider this; your family life growing up, living in a cottage on the beach; a cabin in the country; a home in a small, friendly town; a condo in New York City, or even a small apartment in an unsafe and underserved community. Supportive parents, or a volatile, toxic and unsafe environment? What about working for a manager who is mean and unreasonable and treats you and others like crap? Or working for a manager who is a true leader and pushes you to be the best version of yourself? How could you see yourself in each of those environments? Do you think your view of the world might change? It sure will! We are a product of environments! How we grew up, where we went to school, the people we surround ourselves with, the community in which we live, and even the country. What about the rules? How do they impact us individually or as a whole community? Or do they? Do we obey the rules simply because they’re there or because we believe it’s right, or both? The point here is that there’s more than one perception of reality. We each had our own experiences in life, which shaped us into who we are. How do we communicate if we all have different beliefs? It’s SIMPLE… (Well, not really, but oh so worth it). We allow ourselves to be open-minded, to speak and honor the truth, and invite others to listen. The keyword “invite”…avoid forcing people to listen to us. In return, we listen with an inquisitive mind and without judgment. We respect each other and all the perceptions of realities. Healthy relationships require thought, effort, and communication on a level where anyone can understand. It’s difficult, but not impossible! Imagine what your relationships could look like at home, work, friends, family when you’re able to have a clear and healthy conversation, regardless if you agree or disagree. • 1 Must-Have Ingredient When Manifesting Your Desires

Written by: Gurpreet Kaur, Executive Contributor Executive Contributors at Brainz Magazine are handpicked and invited to contribute because of their knowledge and valuable insight within their area of expertise. “Why don’t I like myself? Like why?” said Mary while sobbing her eyes out. Mary knew something was wrong and needed help when her anxiety continued growing around taking her toddler for a stroll outside in the middle of the pandemic because she lived in a small condominium. She was suffering pretty much in every area of her life: relationship with husband, parenting her child, school, not working, physical health conditions like Irritable Bowel Syndrome, and conflicts with parents. She doubted her decisions, she felt ugly, and was very anxious about the future. The reason she avoided walks because she felt people were looking at her and making fun of her body. After a couple of sessions, we realized that she was very hard on herself, judgmental towards herself, and lacked self-love. Self-love is the most important piece of manifesting puzzle I have worked with numerous clients on their mental health journeys, and one main common thing that people have to work on is self-love. The first thing I assess when working with my clients is their self-worth because it is directly related to their ability to heal themselves emotionally and physically. When manifesting your desires, the most important piece of the puzzle is feeling worthy of your desires. If you have self-doubt, low self-esteem, or lack of confidence, the techniques you practice will most likely fail. Where does self-doubt, lack of confidence, or low self-esteem come from? From not feeling loved enough. When you lack self-love, you hurt your self-worth – read my blog on this here. I will talk more about different aspects of self-love and what does it look and feel like in daily life in my future articles, but for today, I want to keep the focus on you understanding that the most important thing you need for manifestation is feeling worthy and deserving of the desires you want to manifest. If your deservability level is low on any desire, you will have hard time manifesting that desire. You construct your own future I suffered from depression and suicidal ideation back in college. I lived a pretty sheltered life at home till I went away for college. When I got to college, the freedom, lack of sheltered structure, and the pressure of responsibility sent me into depression. I pretty much hit my rock bottom and had to learn to just cope with life. Psychology and self-help books were my best friends at that time. I started to question the meaning and purpose of life. My self-esteem was underground when I had to learn to define who I was. Existential and humanistic theories resonated the most with me but they all pointed to something like “Depression is the inability to construct future,” Rollo May. So, there I embarked on a journey to construct a future for myself. That’s when I got into the self-help books of manifestation. I am still on this quest, but it had changed slightly recently vs when I first started the journey about 20 years ago. Now I want to effortlessly manifest my desires or construct my future. Through this long personal journey and variety of clinical experiences, I have realized that low self-esteem or feeling not-loved-enough or lack of unconditional positive regard in one’s life is a very crucial piece to the puzzle of manifestation. Feeling worthy or deserving of your desires is a must If you are on a similar journey, I would highly suggest you to pay attention to your self-worth. When you are manifesting your desires, you feeling worthy and deserving of the desires is very important. If you skip this step, you might feel a lot of frustration along the way and might even become skeptical of the process. I am here to say that the process works, but first, you have to love yourself, feel worthy, and feel deserving of your desires. Examine your desires and worthiness around them What I want you to take away from this article is to start examining your desires that have not been fulfilled. Write them down and reflect on the beliefs around these desires. Do you feel you don’t have what it takes to be or have ______ (fill in the blank)? See what these desires are telling you. Pay attention to what direction these desires are taking you because it matters. Your desires have purpose and mission In the next article, I will walk you through how to use your desires as a part of your growth process that you feel good about. We also will go through a method to determine how to detect what desires are good or not for your growth. • Award-Winning Work Flow Expert Thomas Karlsson - How to Digitalize and Scale Your Business

Thomas Karlsson is the CEO and foundingpartner of Omnitas Consulting . Throughout his career, Thomas has been working with organization, processes, and workflows. Through his systematic and scrutinizing "no-nonsense" approach, he tends to effectivize most organizations. With a background in the Swedish armed forces (Director of personnel) and later as the COO of a Growth Consultancy Bureau in Stockholm, Thomas has acquired more than his fair share of experiences in management consulting. He has today positioned himself as one of the, if not the, leading consultant on monday.com and workflow enhancement. One of your superpowers is that you can quickly understand the profound and underlying problems companies have and then take them from being stuck to scaling. Can you share an example of this with one of your clients? All superpowers come from passion. I have always been allergic to bureaucracy and meaningless administration. By focusing on the actual workflow (not the software) and optimizing them we are able to work with any kind of company, in any vertical. The process of describing and analyzing a sales process looks the same as mapping and evaluating a production workflow. The difference comes in the end when we choose which software to use in order to support the new workflow. We tend to gravitate towards monday.com because it is an excellent value for money, and it is very agile and allows us to tailor it to almost any workflows and processes. We at Omnitas Consulting always try to cater to the client's corporate culture and help them achieve greater transparency and visualize the workload in a tangible way, which is known to have a positive impact on the workplace environment and employee satisfaction. We have many success stories. The effect our clients have in common are: Elimination of internal emails Better delivery and deadline fulfillment Handover processes are automated, which means slimmed production times. Clearly identifying bottlenecks and having the tools to deal with them. Minimizing administration One of my favorite examples is a company that produces bespoke kitchens and stairways. Before approaching us, they were managing everything analogue, over email and in Excel spreadsheets. Now they are managing their whole sales process, with automated emails to the client at important milestones. They track drawings and payments and also communicate with their factory in Indonesia and automatically provide them with all the information they need to produce the goods. Shipping to Scandinavia on freight containers is managed and tracked on monday.com . Quality assurance before delivery and installation and aftermarket support are also being managed in monday.com . This is a company that understands the value of gathering all their workflows in one place. They are saving time with up to 100 automated emails each day, and they can always provide the client the correct information about their order no matter where it is in the process. You are born and raised in Sweden, but you’re operating worldwide, and the majority of the people and companies asking for your expertise are outside of Sweden. United States, United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, to mention a few. What do you think is the reason for that? I think the nature of our services and the special workflow niche that we have carved out for ourselves makes us quite unique. It is a service very few management companies can offer. I would say that our success internationally is based on our approach. We treat every single client the same way, no matter if they are a 10 man operation or a big global enterprise. Smaller companies are getting a level of attention and service they aren't used to getting. This has led to great word of mouth. The majority of our international clients approach us thanks to referrals and positive word of mouth. We do no marketing outside of Sweden. Instead of making our clients fit into ready-made solutions or models, we like to collaborate together through an agile approach. We will always work to create a tailored system that adapts the best solution based on their desired effects. This way of thinking makes us rather unique on the market. Again, approaching the challenges from a workflow perspective, rather than a system use case, means that we are able to understand each company's unique corporate culture and cater to their way of working, as an approach that is quite rare internationally. With that being said, we know that there are many people out there who want to work more flexibly for various reasons. Our strong belief is that companies, no matter the size, can manage this challenge without losing the efficiency in their projects and workflows. You just need to find tailored tools, and we can help implement those to reach the full potential of use. There are lots of companies looking to digitalize more effectively to save money or scale. This is something you’ve been very successful in doing. What are your 3-5 best tips on digitalizing effectively, and what should you avoid doing? Organizations of all sizes have varying wants and needs, and meet different challenges in different projects. Managing a portfolio of all the projects is a complex process, but there are some hands-on Do's and Don'ts in project and workflow management that me and my colleagues think that every organization should have in mind while building a successful workflow. What to do: Analyze your requirements and clearly separate wants and needs. Make sure to connect your challenges to desired effects. Plan your workflows. Make sure you have the bigger picture before you start to build your workflows. It´s otherwise easy to miss out on important details and avoid miss alignment between business and project objectives. Connect cross-functional processes in your workflows and make sure the handover process is supported and automated. Make sure your software can integrate to the tools you are already using and to get a master system, a work Operating System (workOS), that collects the data from all your separate tools. Either natively or through API or connectors such as Integromat , Zapier or Flowize. Get the technical support you need to get started. You don't need to navigate this ocean on your own. There is help to be had. What to avoid: Don't use unknown software or software from a too small supplier. Choose something that may last and that will be updated over time. I have seen all too many companies choosing "smaller" solutions but ending up without one due to issues in regard to them not being kept up to date or further developed. monday.com is a good example of a good platform, they are constantly developing the platform and new features and functions are continuously added. It's also a company with several hundred employees, it will not disappear without anyone noticing. Don't set requirements based on isolated functions. Set requirements based on scenarios and processes instead. Avoid unnecessary administrations. Automate work for efficiency and make time for your priorities. Don't use separate tools for different use cases and teams. Find a system that covers all your needs and supports all pieces of the operation. Don´t make it harder than it looks! Implementing a new system into the organization doesn`t need to be that complicated. Not with a little help. What is the next big goal or project for Thomas Karlsson? What do you have in front of you? Omnitas Consulting is constantly growing and trying to become better geared to helping our clients constantly evolving needs. We are getting ready for a more aggressive international expansion as well as strengthening our position in Sweden. We are looking at an expansion with 4 new co-workers before summer and probably 2 more during the fall. On a personal note, I am about to become a father. We are expecting a daughter, Freja, within the next 6 weeks. My biggest upcoming project will be tackling the challenge of combining parenthood with running a company. I look forward to finding ways to be an active and present parent while still continue to deliver quality workflows and solutions to our clients. We are still scaling up ourselves and nowhere near full potential. I look forward to what the future brings with open arms. I love meeting new companies and talk to them about their challenges, and understanding how we can help them achieve their desired effect. We are really making work-life better, one company at a time. We know that great performances come from people that are happy with their work-life balance. It becomes more and more important for companies to tailor a system that gives them the transparency they need to succeed with their workflow. • Meet Leticia DeSuze – From Struggling Single Mom to Successful Mindset and Business Coach

Leticia DeSuze is a holistic mindset coach and business strategist who works with C-level executives and established entrepreneurs who desire to break the 7-figure barrier. Having coached more than 1200 senior leaders and entrepreneurs across multiple industries, Leticia believes that every problem is a mindset problem and that mindset matters most. Leticia has developed a 'laser-like' ability to pierce the facades and identify the deeply engrained thought patterns that have limited her clients' potential, and identify opportunities for accelerated growth. She helps them clearly define what they want and designs the roadmap to get there - while holding them accountable. The result is a life and business they've intentionally created vs. one they've settled for. Who is Leticia? I am a single mom of a beautiful 25-year-old daughter named Asia. I am originally from Chicago and now live in the Atlanta area. I love being near water, mountains, and all things nature. I am an introvert who relishes solitude as the highest form of self-care, and I also love people deeply. I love learning. I’m an avid reader, but I mostly learn from life. I am really life smart. I am a people watcher and an observer. It’s probably what drew me to the world of coaching because I am innately curious. I am plant-based and LOVE good food - but it’s really the experience of food. I also love to laugh and tend to play all day even though I’m very serious about my work. What is it that you do for your clients? I am a mindset coach and business strategist. Entrepreneurs come to me with both life and business problems. They’re in a place of growth, transition, or crisis and need help to get to what’s next. In a nutshell, I help them see what’s in the way of them reaching their goals and also work through those things with them. Some of my clients are rebranding. Some of them have personal issues that are bleeding into their businesses. Some of them have challenges with leadership. Some of them are looking to get to the next level of growth. It runs the gamut. I am the sounding board. I am the confidante. I am the navigator. I am the sage. How did you get started coaching? In 2008 I was selling real estate. I had gotten my broker’s license and started my own brokerage. One day, I talked to a friend, and I said, “I don’t love this. I want to be a coach.” I had no idea what coaching really entailed. Shortly thereafter, the market crashed, and so did my business. I found myself fumbling for consulting opportunities until the market bounced back. I ended up temporarily consulting with an organization where I traveled the nation coaching senior executives in Fortune 500 corporations. What was supposed to be 2 to 6 months turned into 9 years. I was certified as a business coach and left that organization to become an outsourced CEO to small law firms. After that, I started my own coaching practice and have built it to six figures through organic referrals. What has been your best business strategy? Nurturing relationships. I have built my business on organic referrals - so much so that I am now starting a referral program. I don’t go looking for people. They come to me. It’s not luck, however. It’s being very intentional about investing and nurturing relationships and building what I call ‘relational equity.’ When your clients know that you’re wholeheartedly invested in their success, they naturally and organically want to share that experience with others. What has been your biggest mindset challenge? I felt like I needed permission. I unknowingly apologized or felt the need to apologize for thinking big and dreaming big, and wanting more than so many people around me. I dealt with a lot of guilt and started to play small without realizing it. Before I knew it, I was settling for a life that I didn’t want instead of boldly going after the one I did. How did you overcome it? I hired a mindset coach. I made some commitments to myself. I resolved that I might lose some people along the journey and that it was ok. I started taking small steps that led to bigger steps, and I haven’t looked back. Mindset challenges are at every level, though, so it’s not a one-time thing. It’s like building a muscle. It gets simpler as you go to different levels, but it’s never easy because the challenges are greater and the stakes are higher. What are three tips you would give anyone to help improve their mindset? First, surround yourself with people who don’t think like you. Whether it’s immersing yourself in books and podcasts, mastermind groups, or personal coaching, you need someone to disrupt your thought patterns and help you to see your blind spots and opportunities for growth. Second, take immediate action on thoughts that resonate with you. If you take action consistently, you form new beliefs. You will never think your way into a new way of acting, but you can act your way into a new way of thinking. If you don’t take action, you’re just getting more knowledge that won’t serve you if it only lives in your mind. Third, repair self-trust. When you don’t keep commitments to yourself, you lose self-trust. If you don’t trust yourself, you will sabotage opportunities. Repairing self-trust is all about making decisions quickly and learning to keep commitments. Then you will build the inner confidence that will allow you to handle larger commitments. What drives you? Impact. Every day I impact someone’s life and business through mine. That inspires me to consistently get better in every area of my life, so I am deeply committed to my own growth. When I think about that, I realize it’s a huge privilege and responsibility, but I’m grateful to have been entrusted with it. Another thing that drives me is legacy. I come from a rich legacy - having a great grandfather who was a prominent attorney who fought for West Indian and Panamian workers’ rights. Through a union he formed, they amassed 2500 acres of land, a cinema, and a lunch counter, just to name a few things. And it was shut down by the government. Even though I never met him, it’s a legacy I want to honor by shaping history and restoring wealth to my family. Do you have a favorite quote? I have several, but one of them is “Well behaved women seldom make history” by Laurel Thatcher Ulrich. Even though in her original iteration, she meant well-behaved women should make history, I believe that being ‘well behaved’ implies going along with systemic and societal norms, expectations, and limits. I don’t believe that you will accomplish anything of substance or impact if you’re not willing to defy them. Who should hire/work with you? I have a particular interest in working with C-level execs, established entrepreneurs, and minority women in law who desire to break the 7-figure barrier. I work best with those who have already worked with a coach or those who understand the investment necessary in themselves and their businesses to be successful. For those people, coaching is a ‘no brainer’ -- like having insurance. Also, the very need for coaching is to overcome inner resistance. There’s a level of willingness to do the work that makes coaching relationships the most successful. What is your big goal? Where do you see yourself in 10 years from now? In 10 years from now, I will have an eight-figure business. I will be speaking on international stages. I will be a best-selling author. I will be leading coaching retreats and high-level masterminds on my multi-acre property near water. I will also be heavily involved with my nonprofit Beyond Potential, Inc., where I will establish mentoring mansions where single moms can live for up to 2 years and receive holistic life coaching and entrepreneurship training.
