Hey there! I just wanted to share something with you. You know, I'm feeling more motivated than I was six months ago. But let's get one thing straight, motivation isn't the magic solution. It's not what's going to save you. In fact, it's often the reason people stay stuck.

A person stands in a sunlit field, backlit by warm golden light. Forest in the background, creating a serene, contemplative mood.

I know, it might sound odd coming from a coach, but let me explain. For years, I relied on motivation. I'd kick off a new routine all fired up and ready to go. New training plan, new eating habits, new week, you name it. And I'd be on top of it... until I wasn't.

One stressful day. One bad sleep. One moment of “I’ll start again Monday.” And, ah, back to square one. It was like I needed the stars to align just to feel “ready.”

And that’s when I realized. Motivation is unreliable. It’s temporary. It’s emotional. It’s affected by everything from the weather to the mood you’re in. If you wait on motivation, you’ll always be waiting.

But mindset? That’s different. Mindset is a decision. It’s the voice in your head that says, “I don’t feel like doing this, but I’m doing it anyway, because I promised myself I would.” It’s choosing identity over feelings. It’s showing up tired. It’s sticking to your goals, even when the spark has worn off.

When I started working on my mindset, everything changed. Not just physically, but mentally, emotionally, and even spiritually. I stopped chasing the “hype” and built something deeper.

Let me be real with you. I’m 61. I’ve beaten type 2 diabetes. I’ve been through redundancy, recovery, cancer treatment, and plenty of life’s curveballs. I didn’t get here because I was motivated every day. I got here because I built a mindset that could carry me through the hard days.

That’s what I teach now. Not surface-level hype. Not perfect meal plans or six-pack promises. I help people, real people, create a reset (the name of my new programme) that lasts. People who want to feel strong again. In control again. People who are sick of quick fixes and just want something that works, without pretending life’s perfect.

So here’s my challenge to you: stop chasing the next hit of motivation. Instead, build the mindset of the person you want to become. And then act like them, every day, even when it’s tough. That’s the secret. That’s the work. And that’s how you change your life.
