A phenomenon that is observed again and again, more often than one might think. The majority of people choose to remain in pain. It's incomprehensible, isn't it?

A person walks joyfully with arms outstretched on a sunlit forest path. Sunbeams filter through tall trees, creating a serene, uplifting mood.

Our brain and its functions

The fact is, our brain is there to keep us alive. It has built-in warning signals that trigger immediately, reflexively, at the slightest suspicion of danger. All of this would be perfectly fine if the system weren't overly complex and, above all, so deeply intertwined with our beliefs.

Our brain conserves energy wherever possible. That's why it's so automated. Whenever something new comes into play, it needs more energy, and that's why it resists it. Until, eventually, it becomes automatic.

Motivation versus discipline

Anyone who's stuck with me so far knows exactly what's coming. To override the brain's function, you need discipline. Motivation will never win it. As the name suggests, something motivates you with an impulse. This impulse is rapid and propels everything within you up, like a rocket. And unfortunately, it comes crashing down just as quickly.

To change the brain, you need consistency, discipline, and routine. With repetition, the brain slowly realizes it's good and then automates it, seeing it as harmless. It's clear that the brain gets used to everything eventually, even bad habits.

A great example of discipline is the soccer player Cristiano Ronaldo. He's extremely disciplined and proves through this that he's achieved everything in life.

Understanding and accepting

A big problem with people is their tendency to want to understand everything beforehand. If they don't understand, they don't dare to try anything. That's where fear comes from. If you don't understand why something can be good, you block your progress. Letting go is one of the hardest things there is. People panic about loss, but letting go has nothing to do with loss.

Letting go is accepting what is, in order to be able to change something. Does that sound confusing? Let's rethink things. If you want to control everything, the chances of losing everything are greater. When you stress yourself out, your system has to protect you, your brain has already sounded the alarm. From that point on, you can't be in the flow. You're just functioning under stress.

Is stress bad?

The system needs a little stress to function. What's detrimental is when chronic stress takes hold. Without a recovery phase, errors occur. These errors then become visible in the body. The body (including the brain) is a messenger. What you think and feel, the brain translates into hormones and enzymes. Over time, your body shows you, more and more frequently and intensely, where these "errors" are hidden. Your "aha" moment is coming now. If your body is ill, it's already in a state of resolution. You simply need to consciously let go and decide that you will heal this wound, and so it will. Your decision has been implemented by the brain. What do many call this? Manifestation, co-creation, wave collapse…

What was that about being left in pain?

You've had experiences in this life. Good and bad. All the bad things are then categorized as "dangerous." You live in pain, whatever it may be. You suffer, it paralyzes you. However, your brain knows this. It knows what it's like to be there.

Something new could bring you back to that state or set you free. You don't know. Now comes the crucial point. Your subconscious experiences are constantly retrieved by your conscious mind and connected with emotions, thus amplifying them. Your system will scream that the new thing could be just as bad. Then, unconsciously, you decide it's better to stick with what you have, because you know it, rather than risk the fear of the unknown.

How can you know if fear is paralyzing you or just warning you?

Fear is primarily a survival instinct. It has its place.

Are you asking yourself the same question? Does this fear warn me because of the unknown, or does it paralyze me with every movement?

The warning is welcome as long as it remains just that, a warning. When you feel paralyzed, past experiences take center stage. Your brain wants you to stay exactly where you are because it's "comfortably familiar."

Is there a permanent solution?

Yes, if you want. Yes to deciding to do things differently. Yes to "enough is enough." Yes to "now I'm taking control."

For fear, no. Like anger, worry, and sadness, fear is a vital emotion for survival. You can best understand this through the lens of Chinese medicine.

Life is always about the same thing:

  • Accept what was.

  • Let go and be grateful for it.

  • Move forward with trust, everything is as it should be right now.

  • Keep moving toward what inspires you and awakens love.

How can you help yourself?

You can support your system with music. It's even been medically studied. We've combined music with frequencies. Why? Because the approach is to work with the body and mind, not against them.
