Supported Self-Assessment for Autism and ADHD from ND Friendly Life

So many undiagnosed neurodivergent adults are beginning to ask themselves, am I Autistic or ADHD? They want to know, but they don’t necessarily want to pay three thousand dollars and dedicate multiple days to in-person testing, only to roll the dice on whether or not the doctor or psychologist will be able to see through their masking and hidden accommodations. Especially when they know that whatever the doctor calls it (Borderline Personality Disorder, Narcissism, Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder) is going to go on their medical record. That’s why ND Friendly Life, led by two late-identified, actually Autistic-and-ADHD life coaches, is now offering Supported Self-Assessment.

Tattooed woman poses thoughtfully in front of a colorful graffiti wall. She wears a black top and bracelets, with an intense expression.

This isn’t just about a label – it’s about deeply understanding your own lived experience and bringing the power to claim your identity back into your own hands. When you grow up undiagnosed, it can result in masking, people pleasing, self-loathing, and other costly survival strategies. It can be hard to believe you’re allowed to be exactly who you are. Over time, this can have devastating effects on your health, well-being, and relationships.

Supported Self-Assessment gives you:

  • The opportunity to self-identify in the presence of deeply knowledgeable, late-identified Autistic-ADHDers who have spent years in the pursuit of unmasking, and doing special interest research on the late-identified experience.

  • An identical process to the official Master’s level Autism and ADHD diagnosis, but provided in a non-pathologizing, neurodivergent-affirming way.

  • The chance to see for yourself if your experience meets the criteria for either or both the Autism and ADHD diagnoses.

  • The option to receive a written report covering everything we go over in the assessment, so you can refresh your memory or share your findings with anyone you choose.

The assessment process can be deeply personal, intimate and validating. To finally be seen and known from the inside, instead of simply labeled from the outside, can bring great relief. And to have another neurodivergent person right there with you every step of the way makes the whole thing sweeter and more fulfilling. While there are sometimes a few tears shed in the process of talking about the past, there is often a lot of laughter as we put the pieces together and make sense of things that had previously seemed like a flaw or problem, but that are actually just natural for your neurotype.

If you are wondering if a Supported Self Assessment would be right for you, here’s a questionnaire to get you started.
