David De La Fuente, Queer Latinx Author & Certified Sexologist

Introduce yourself! Please tell us about you and your life, so we can get to know you better.

I’m David De La Fuente, a queer Latinx author, certified sexologist, and retired U.S. Navy Chief with over 22 years of service. My work bridges personal development, emotional intelligence, and identity liberation. At my core, I’m passionate about guiding others to rediscover their voice and reconnect with their values, especially those navigating complex intersections of culture, identity, and trauma.

Outside of my professional world, I’m deeply grounded in daily rituals that keep me connected, morning walks, curated playlists that fuel reflection, and time in nature to reset. I'm a believer in intentional rest, soulful conversation, and building community spaces where people feel safe, seen, and stretched.

What do you believe is the core message or mission behind your platform?

The heart of David’s Fountain of Thought is rooted in this truth: you are not broken, you’re becoming. My mission is to help people align with their authentic selves through emotional clarity, radical self-acceptance, and conscious leadership. Whether I’m writing, speaking, or guiding clients, the work is always about integration, bringing together our lived experiences, identities, and intentions so we can lead lives that are both purpose-filled and deeply our own.

How do you stay inspired and consistently generate new content for your audience?

I stay inspired by listening, really listening, to the patterns in the stories people share, the emotional undercurrents in culture, and the silences that often speak the loudest. Reflection is a big part of my creative process, along with ritual , quiet mornings, music that stirs the soul, and moments of stillness where clarity arrives.

I also draw a lot from my clients, my community, and my personal healing work. When you're present with people navigating change, insight is always within reach. I write and speak from that place of resonance and realness.

What challenges have you faced while growing your business, and how have you overcome them?

One of the biggest challenges was learning to lead in a way that honored both structure and soul. Coming from a military background, I had the discipline and strategy, but what I needed was softness, intuition, and trust in my voice outside rigid systems.

I also had to navigate visibility as a queer Latinx professional in spaces that weren’t always inclusive. But instead of shrinking, I focused on building Radiant Minds, a coaching and consulting space that champions authenticity, emotional intelligence, and healing-centered leadership. I’ve overcome challenges by anchoring into purpose, surrounding myself with values-aligned collaborators, and choosing alignment over approval.

What advice would you give to someone looking to start a similar platform or business?

Start with your why, but don’t stop there. Get clear on your values, the people you're here to serve, and the emotional truth you're willing to share. Your voice isn’t just your content; it’s your energy, your boundaries, your integrity.

Also, build your platform slowly and intentionally. Trust is your currency; earn it through consistency, compassion, and courage. And don’t be afraid to evolve. The version of your platform that matters most is the one that reflects who you’re becoming, not just who you’ve been.

Tell us about your greatest career achievement so far.

Beyond the cover of Brainz Magazine, an incredible honor, my greatest achievement has been witnessing transformation in others because of something I’ve written, said, or held space for. Whether it’s a client finally giving themselves permission to live out loud, or a reader who tells me my words helped them feel less alone, those are the moments that remind me I’m walking in alignment with purpose.

Tell us about a pivotal moment in your life that brought you to where you are today.

One pivotal moment was transitioning out of the Navy. After 22 years of service, I found myself asking, “Who am I without the uniform?” That question cracked something open in me, and underneath it was grief, truth, and a call to redefine leadership on my own terms. It was the beginning of an inner reckoning that led me to study sexology, launch two businesses, and devote my work to emotional liberation and identity integration. It was the moment I stopped performing and started remembering who I really was.
