What if you could shift patterns and limitations that have previously held you and your team back, simply by laying down to breathe? What if you had a simple, free (!) tool to open you up to new realities and possibilities? It’s called breathwork, my friends.

People lie on floor mats with blankets in a spacious room with wooden floors. Cushions and water bottles are scattered around. Relaxed mood.

According to one of the OG breathworkers, Judith Kravitz, “What we do with our breath represents what we do with our Life Force itself.” The more I practice and facilitate breathwork, the more I realize how true this is, and how powerful breathwork can be.

Breathwork shows us how truly powerful we are when we learn to access all that we are, without resistance. Every inhale we take is an invitation to become more awake and alive to our creative essence, and the possibilities that Life brings us every single day. In the realm of business and working with teams, breathwork is potentially the most simple and effective way to bring a group together to intentionally tap into creative and growth potentials.

As a practice, breathwork invites us to cultivate a more intentional relationship with the way we breathe and by extension, with our own Life Force energy which gives us access to the field of quantum potential that surrounds us.

How it works

During an open-mouth circular breathwork session, as we bring more oxygen into the cells of our body, we are quite literally circulating our highest energetic vitality. We can feel this happening in real time, as our body starts to tingle. We may experience tightness in the face or jaw, or tingling through our hands, feet, or arms. As we circulate an influx of oxygen and nutrients throughout our body, emotions and energy often arise. This is where breathwork becomes vibrational medicine, helping us to shift the lower-density emotional states (fear, anxiety, overwhelm, grief) into higher vibrational states of acceptance, love, freedom, intuitive knowing, and creativity. We don’t even need to understand or consciously know where the arising emotions or energy is coming from. Simply by connecting our breath into a circular rhythm, we allow our body to excavate what’s stuck, and tap into greater inner freedom, intuition, clarity, and creativity. According to the laws of energy, we aren’t actually letting go of old patterns as much as we are allowing them to shift into higher vibrational (energetic) states. If you’re feeling tired, drained or creatively stuck, breathwork can literally give you more energy and creativity.

In a guided breathwork session, the way we connect our breath is our ‘breathing pattern’ and it can tell us a lot about how we interact with Life. In our overstimulated world today, many of us are living in overwhelm and not breathing as deeply as is optimal to circulate blood and nutrients (aka vitality and energy) through the body. A breathwork practice invites us to become more aware of how we breathe in our day-to-day, which has the amazing benefit of bringing greater depth, fluidity, and awareness into our breath, bodies, and lives.

By extension, the benefits of breathwork are vast. And, while breathwork may not yet be as mainstream as yoga or straight up meditation, breathwork is becoming a wellness superstar, with everyone from elite athletes to fortune 500’s hiring breathwork coaches to support stronger athleticism and to teach teams how to purposefully tune into greater creativity, intuition, interconnection, and inspiration.

As a facilitator, it’s incredible to witness what is possible with breathwork. I’ve seen clients heal chronic hip and neck pain, work through decades-old fears, connect with the Spirit realm, ignite team creativity, and receive the exact roadmap they needed to successfully grow their business

What breathwork has taught me, and many others, is that no matter how overwhelmed or overstimulated we are, our bodies (and Life itself!) are always conspiring to bring us into harmony. In this way, breathwork is the ultimate pattern disruptor. In business, people often speak about ‘disruptors’ that come along and change everything. Breathwork has been the biggest disruptor in my business life, showing me the truth that over-efforting and hustling are not the path to the greatest success. Slowing down and listening are the best ways to receive the clarity and inspiration that’s required for expansion. Personally, I’m not at all surprised that high achievers like LeBron James and companies like Nike and NASA are using breathwork to unlock their next level.
