Steve Radford, Mindset Coach

Introduce yourself! Tell us about you and your life so we can get to know you better.

I’m Steven Radford, an Internationally Accredited Mindset & Performance Coach and the founder of SuccessWave Coaching. My passion is helping professionals break through burnout, rediscover their purpose, and rise into a life that feels aligned and fulfilling.

But this isn’t just work I studied, it’s work I lived.

Between 2011 and 2016, life came in waves. A divorce, the devastating loss of a mother at age 56, multiple job losses, financial collapse, and the threat of homelessness occurred within a few short years.

By the summer of 2015, I was burnt out, overwhelmed, and lost. I had always been resilient, but this time was different. I hit rock bottom.

At that moment, I saw two paths: stay stuck or rebuild. I chose to rebuild, not with grand gestures, but with small, consistent shifts: journaling, gratitude, movement, mindset work, one percent at a time.

Today, my life is intentionally designed. I live with purpose, presence, and gratitude for both the big and small things in life. I prioritise being the best version of myself, for my work, for my clients, and most importantly, for my family.

I am truly blessed to share life with my amazing wife and our children. Their love, support, and presence ground me daily and inspire me to keep rising.

My story isn’t one of struggle; it’s one of resilience and renewal. That’s why I coach: to show others they don’t have to stay stuck. They can rise too.

SuccessWave emphasises helping professionals break through burnout and rediscover their purpose. Can you share a success story that highlights this transformation?

One client, Jenna, came to me feeling overwhelmed, stuck in a loop of overthinking. On the outside, she was thriving, but internally, she was doubting everything and running on empty.

We started with reflection: what beliefs and patterns were holding her back? Then we reframed them, using tools from mindset coaching and cognitive behavioural techniques. Finally, she took action, small, consistent steps that built her confidence and clarity.

Twelve weeks later, Jenna wasn’t just surviving, she was thriving. She started saying no without guilt, speaking up at work with conviction, and making decisions with ease.

She told me,

“I started taking action again, and everything changed.”

That’s what coaching is about. Not quick fixes, but lasting clarity, confidence, and momentum.

Your approach integrates mindset coaching, positive psychology, CBC, and NLP. How do you decide which to use with clients?

Every client is different, which is why I use my core framework: Reflect – Reframe – Rise.

  • Reflect: We uncover beliefs, patterns, and habits that are keeping someone stuck.

  • Reframe: We shift them using a mix of tools, mindset coaching, CBC, positive psychology, or NLP, based on what works best for that individual.

  • Rise: We take aligned action, building confidence through accountability and consistent progress.

If someone struggles with negative self-talk, CBC techniques help challenge and change those thoughts. If they have lost motivation, we use positive psychology to rediscover strengths and joy. NLP helps rewire deeper patterns that feel hard to shift.

The method is never forced; it’s always tailored. Coaching is about giving the right tool at the right time.

What advice would you offer to professionals feeling stuck in their careers and considering coaching as a path forward?

First, you’re not alone. Many high achievers reach a point where they feel stuck, burnt out, or like they have lost their spark.

Start with honest reflection:

What feels heavy right now?

Where do you feel out of alignment?

Often, naming the problem is the beginning of the solution.

Then challenge the story you’re telling yourself.

Is it true that you’re not good enough? Is it too late to change?

Coaching isn’t about fixing you; you’re not broken.

It’s about unlocking the clarity, purpose, and power that’s already within you.

If you feel stuck, take one step today. That might be journaling, setting a boundary, reaching out to a coach, or simply asking yourself what you really want.

You don’t have to have it all figured out to start.

You just have to start.
