Let’s be honest, ‘money’ and ‘spirituality’ haven’t always been the best of friends. For a long time, we were taught that spiritual growth meant turning away from wealth, that money was somehow unholy, and that wanting more was... well, greedy. But what if that story is outdated? What if money isn’t the enemy of your spiritual path but a powerful tool to support it?

Why we need to talk about money and spirituality

Many spiritually minded people carry subconscious fears or doubts around money. We might worry that we’re being selfish by wanting more or that we’ll lose our values if we become financially successful. Sometimes, we associate wealth with greed, power, or disconnection.

But the truth is, money is neutral. It’s simply energy—energy that allows things to happen. What matters is how we decide to use it.

When aligned with purpose, money can help us express who we truly are and serve the world more fully. It becomes a vehicle for growth, service, and change.

Releasing old beliefs that keep you stuck

If you’ve been on a spiritual path for some time, you may have already released some limiting beliefs around money—but they often run deep. It’s common to carry hidden guilt, fear, or judgment when it comes to wealth.

You might notice yourself thinking:

  • ‘I shouldn’t want money, it’s not spiritual.’

  • ‘People with a lot of money are selfish or greedy.’

  • ‘If I had more, others would have less.’

  • ‘Wanting more is materialistic or shallow.’

These beliefs typically come from societal conditioning or inherited family narratives. But we don’t have to keep repeating them.

The world is changing, and we need to rewire our attitudes toward money. It’s time to accept that wealth and spirituality can work together in harmony.

Spiritually conscious people should have more money

Here’s something that might surprise you: spiritually conscious people are exactly the ones who should be wealthy. Why? Because when spiritually aware people have money, they tend to use it well. They create meaningful projects. They support others. They give back.Money in the hands of those who are awake, compassionate, and committed becomes a force for good.We need more artists, healers, visionaries, and change-makers who are financially supported in doing their work. We need more wealth flowing to people who care and who can make a difference. This isn’t about getting rich for the sake of material gains, status, or ego. It’s about relieving the pressure on your daily life so you can focus on the important thing—your contribution to the world.

What would you do with unlimited wealth?

Take a moment and ask yourself: If I had all the money I needed, how would I use it to serve others? This is where the shift happens. Instead of seeing money as something we hoard or chase, we start seeing it as something that flows through us, fuelling positive change. You might:

  • Sponsor other people’s spiritual projects

  • Support your community more generously

  • Share your message or creativity more widely

  • Work less and volunteer more

When you link your financial goals to your spiritual values, money becomes a powerful tool for change.

The role of money in spiritual expansion

Spiritual awakening brings with it a strong desire to live in alignment with our values. That includes how we earn, spend, and give money.

Sometimes, this leads to a period of questioning: “Can I still do what I love and make money doing it?”

The answer is yes.

You don’t have to separate your income from your intuition. In fact, the more you follow your instinctive path, the more you come into flow—and that includes financial flow.

We’re supposed to live a life of abundance. Part of the spiritual journey is recognising and embracing that.

Thriving spiritually doesn’t mean scraping by financially. You’re not more virtuous if you struggle.

You came here to experience the richness of life—not just spiritually, but emotionally, creatively, and, yes, materially too.

The more resources you have, the more you can pour into your passions. Whether that involves making art, teaching, healing, parenting, building something of value, or any of the many other ways we are called to contribute.

A conscious relationship with money

As you advance through your awakening, you become more conscious, and that should apply to the way you view your resources too.

Start asking yourself:

  • Where does my money go each month?

  • Does my spending reflect what I value?

  • Am I investing in myself and my growth?

  • Do I give from a place of love or obligation?

  • Am I open to receiving without guilt?

Having a conscious relationship with money doesn’t mean being perfect. It means being aware. You don’t have to get it right straight away. After all, our relationship with money is deeply ingrained from birth.

But you can start to re-evaluate your position and begin to think of money as an energy that is designed to help you fulfill your goals.
