Running a coaching business can be incredibly fulfilling, but when it comes to scaling, many coaches encounter a significant challenge. You post content, show up online, and maybe even dabble in ads, but the results are inconsistent. If you've ever wondered how to break through that plateau and start generating reliable, high-converting leads, you're in the right place. Webinar ads might be the missing piece.

Why are webinar ads so effective?

Why webinars work:

  • They build trust and authority in under 45 minutes.

  • They allow you to educate and pre-qualify leads.

  • You can sell high-ticket offers without making sales calls (or significantly shorten the sales cycle).

And when paired with the right ad strategy, they become a scalable machine for lead generation and revenue growth.

But here's what makes webinars really powerful: you're not just pitching, you're giving value upfront, solving real problems in real time, and showing your audience exactly why you’re the coach they’ve been looking for. That kind of clarity and connection? It sells, and it scales.

The most common mistakes coaches make with webinar ads

Even 6-figure coaches can waste thousands if their ads aren't set up for success. Here are three mistakes that quietly sabotage your results:

  1. Targeting too broadly or relying only on interests. Without warm audiences, retargeting, or lookalike data, your cost per lead will skyrocket. You need a strategy that layers interest targeting with proven warm and lookalike audiences.

  2. Misaligned messaging. If your ads don’t speak directly to the real pain points and desires of your dream client, they’ll scroll right past. Great ad copy isn’t just pretty words; it is positioning.

  3. A weak webinar funnel. Even if your ad works, a slow-loading page or a generic thank-you screen can kill momentum. Your funnel should guide viewers seamlessly from ad to registration to show-up to sale.

How to set up webinar ads that actually work

Let’s walk through the key steps I use when setting up webinar ads for my clients:

  1. Start with the strategy, not the tech. Before you ever open Ads Manager, map out your ideal audience, offer promise, and webinar topic. Your strategy should guide your setup, not the other way around.

  2. Use the right campaign type. I recommend using Conversion campaigns optimized for leads. You need to make sure the pixel is set up correctly to ensure the ads optimize properly. Avoid Boosted Posts and Traffic objectives, as they’ll give you the wrong kind of clicks.

  3. Nail the creative. Your hook should stop the scroll within the first 3 seconds. Use clear, bold copy and test short-form videos, b-roll with text overlay, or bold graphics that feel native to the platform. Don’t forget the subtitles, as 85% of users scroll social media with the sound off!

  4. Watch your metrics like a hawk. Track your cost per lead, landing page conversion rate, and webinar show-up rate. If something is off, audit your creative, targeting, or page speed. Data doesn't lie.

What makes a webinar funnel convert?

It’s not just the ad. A high-converting funnel has:

  • A compelling opt-in page with a 30+% conversion rate

  • Reminder emails and texts that drive show-up. I’ve even been known to send DMs to people who register to drive higher show-up rates.

  • A value-packed webinar that is not too long, with a clear CTA

  • A simple, confident sales process (even if it’s just a calendar link!)

Remember, scaling doesn't mean more work. It means making smarter, more strategic decisions.
