Introduce yourself! Please tell us about you and your life, so we can get to know you better.

My name is Max, I live between Italy and Cyprus. I am a Coach and Trainer with a deep passion for everything related to performance. My mission is to help athletes, individuals, and companies with an athlete mindset to develop a high-performance mindset to achieve excellent results.

I combine my expertise in Neuro Linguistic Programming and Mental Training to offer personalized coaching paths. These paths are designed to guide my clients through a journey of transformation, pushing them to overcome their limits and achieve goals they never thought possible.

I firmly believe that every individual can excel and reach very high levels of performance through, first and foremost, the right mental preparation. I strive every day to provide the most effective and innovative strategies to ensure that my clients can realize their full potential.

Furthermore, I am an expert in crucial topics such as emotional management, leadership, motivation, effective communication, and goal management. I offer customized training to companies, helping them face the challenges of the modern world and unlock the full potential of their teams and collaborators.

When I'm not busy transforming people's lives through coaching, I dedicate myself to my passion for ultra-marathons and fitness, finding in these activities a continuous source of inspiration and personal challenge. My love for studying allows me to always stay up to date on the latest research and trends in the field of human performance.

What inspired you to specialize in mental and performance coaching?

My inspiration to specialize in mental and performance coaching is deeply rooted in my passion for ultra-marathons. An ultra-marathon is not just a race, it's an extraordinary test of human endurance, resilience, and mental strength, typically extending beyond the traditional marathon length of 42.195 kilometers. These events challenge participants to push beyond perceived limits, often in diverse and demanding environments, in my case on the mountains.

Through my experiences in ultra-marathoning, I've identified three key characteristics that are not only vital for succeeding in these grueling events, but are also essential for anyone aiming to surpass their boundaries and achieve exceptional results.

Firstly, perseverance is paramount. In ultra-marathons, as in life, there are moments when everything in your body and mind screams for you to stop. Cultivating the ability to persevere, to continue despite fatigue and adversity, is a skill that transcends sports and applies to all aspects of personal and professional development.

Secondly, adaptability is crucial. Conditions in ultra-marathons can change rapidly, from weather to terrain to physical and mental states. The capacity to adapt to these changes, to adjust your strategy and mindset on the fly, is a powerful trait that can lead to success in any endeavor.

Lastly, self-awareness is vital. Understanding your own physical and mental limits, recognizing when to push and when to hold back, is a form of wisdom that comes with experience. In performance coaching, fostering self-awareness helps individuals identify their strengths and areas for growth, enabling them to chart a more effective and fulfilling path forward.

These ultra-marathoning characteristics have profoundly influenced my approach to mental and performance coaching, providing a unique perspective on what it takes to achieve excellence and resilience in any field.

How can an individual find such profound motivation to sustain the immense effort required for an ultra-marathon? And how can this be applied to everyday life?

The most significant source of motivation often comes from connecting what we aim to achieve with something deeply meaningful for which we are willing to fight. This motivation becomes even more powerful when it's linked to something beyond ourselves. In my case, the driving force was to prove to myself that I could accomplish something remarkable, especially after a challenging period in my life where I had lost confidence in myself.

Furthermore, the awareness and desire to be an example for others play a crucial role. Whether it's for my coaching clients or people who follow me on social media, the impact of setting an example cannot be underestimated. I often receive messages from individuals who tell me that, by adopting my mantra "one step at a time, one meter at a time, one kilometer at a time," they've overcome devastating illnesses or emerged from deep personal crises.

This approach to motivation is not just about enduring physical challenges like an ultra-marathon, it's about how we face any significant challenge in life. By anchoring our efforts to a deep personal cause and aiming to positively influence others, we find a reservoir of motivation that is both sustainable and deeply fulfilling, driving us to push beyond our limits and achieve what we once thought impossible.

Can you delve deeper into the significance of your mantra 'one step at a time, one meter at a time, one kilometer at a time'?

Absolutely. This mantra encapsulates the only way to tackle an ultra-marathon, and similarly, the only way to realize a dream or accomplish a grand project. It's about embracing the journey 'one step at a time, one meter at a time, one kilometer at a time.' When we set a long-term goal, it's crucial to have a strategy to achieve it and a concrete action plan. However, it's equally important to recognize that reaching the finish line is a process that happens step by step.

In an ultra-marathon, you can't stumble over a step you've already taken or one you're going to take in the future. You can only stumble over the step you're taking right now. This is true in life and business as well. While it's essential to set goals and plan our actions, our focus must be on performing the task at hand to the best of our ability. This approach is particularly vital in today's instant gratification culture, where we're accustomed to immediate results. If those results don't come quickly, there's a temptation to give up. By adopting this mantra, we commit to the process, ensuring we're moving forward, moment by moment, step by step, which is fundamental to achieving enduring success and making meaningful progress toward our aspirations.

Adopting this approach fosters what I like to call the "ultra-runner attitude," a mindset that is not just about enduring the physical demands of an ultra-marathon but also about applying the same principles to overcoming life's challenges. Inspired by this concept, I've developed my coaching program, "From Average to Ultra." This program is designed to guide individuals who aspire to achieve more in life, helping them break through their barriers and attain outcomes they might not have even deemed possible. It's about leveraging the ultra-runner's resilience, focus, and step-by-step progress to transform not just their physical endurance but their entire approach to life's goals and challenges, empowering them to move from average to exceptional.

Could you offer a piece of advice to our readers on how to push beyond their limits, in sports, personal life, and professional endeavors?

Of course. My key piece of advice is to always remember that what we often perceive as a limit is merely a marker: it tells us where we've managed to reach so far, but it doesn't dictate where we can go tomorrow. Our limits are not fixed boundaries but rather signposts indicating our current position on a much longer journey. Every time you encounter what seems like a limit, view it as an opportunity to assess, learn, and then push past it. Whether it's in sports, personal growth, or professional development, the process of extending beyond what we've previously achieved is where true growth occurs.

So, embrace your limits as milestones, not as barriers. Use them as motivation to explore, to innovate, and to expand your horizons. By adopting this mindset, you'll find that your potential is far greater than you ever imagined, and what once seemed impossible begins to move within your reach.
