Have you made a decision to take on a "spiritual lifestyle," to follow a "spiritual path?" Are you currently navigating YouTube, online PDF files, podcast, meetups etc., in an effort to find information, like minded people and clues to the direction that makes the most sense to you? Then take a moment to read...and truly understand the path you are walking.

What is an awakening?

Forget about how corny or cliché this term may sound because this moment is serious...allow me to ask you a few questions...

Can you remember sitting in a meeting at work and feeling as if you were able to see yourself and your co-workers from an outside perspective? As if you were in that moment, having an out of body experience? While you were looking around the room...do you remember thinking to yourself, "I don't belong here," I know I'm capable of doing more with my life."

Can you remember the day while you were out running your normal errands, perhaps on a Saturday and all of a sudden you started to see the people in the various parking lots, in the stores, people driving around you...in a very different way?

Perhaps you became more critical, perhaps you noticed wrongs that you never paid attention to before, perhaps you noticed a homeless man asking for change at the end of the parking lot, that truly has always been there, living in his tent but, you never noticed him.

You, my friend, are experiencing an awakening...

The etymology dictionary describes the original meaning of the word awaken as "originate," "stir up," "roused to activity." You are literally being forced into a mental and spiritual change. The decision to look deeper into these occurrences may not have been a choice at all, yet out of a necessity to understand why...which led you to read this article.

This urge...a search for a deeper meaning...to understand why and find a worthy connection to "God" that exist within and the "God" that exist all around us and truly understand what all of this means...will not be found in a yoga class membership my brother and my sister...

You are being called to evolve. You may ask...why me? I would say...why not you? We attract who we truly are and what we are truthfully drawn to, for the good and bad. The problem with this is that too many people have made this process seem like pictures of puppies and balloons...ahhh…

Unfortunately, the picture of spiritual awakening has been extremely deluded. The path to becoming the person you feel called to be, care free, happy, mostly without flaws is found through actually addressing and facing those flaws head-on.

So the next logical concern would be. How do I do it? What do I need to know?

There is no one way…

Which is why it is dangerous to assume that just because one well known person or friend found their "true self" through climbing a mountain, jumping out of a plane or drinking ayahuasca, that it means that you have to do it too. That is ridiculous! Spending money is not really needed in regards to the spiritual path unless of course one seeks someone to guide them on the initial steps of the journey...and of course purchasing metaphysical tools such as crystals, candles, incense, bracelets, necklaces, spiritual oils, sage, books etc., are all meant to assist you...they cannot do the work...for you...

You can take the first steps on your own by simply siting down in quite, without an electronic device and with nothing more than a pencil or pen and a notebook to write down a list of your flaws, your curiosities and your goals. Write down what you have achieved and what you have failed to accomplish.

This will lay out a beginning understanding of who you have become up to this point.

Now a deeper dive…

You will begin to explore what is known as divination. According to the etymology dictionary once again...divination is defined as "discovering what is hidden or obscure."

Thus, you will play a role in your own self discovery. I would suggest utilizing numerology first...the study of the hidden meaning of numbers and letters. All of us have a first, middle and last name, as well as a month, day and year of birth. The wealth of information that is available to study from our own names and birthdates, is endless. You do not have to be an expert to begin to have a basic understanding. If you wish a more deeper understanding to be revealed to you you can always contact me for a numerology consultation.

A basic understanding of astrology at astro.com is useful as well. The point of looking at yourself through the lens of numerology and astrology is to assist you in recognizing and acknowledging your natural gifts and talents...give yourself credit...

As well as having a very hard and honest look at the parts of yourself that need to change...if you truly want to become a better person...if you want to stop having the same problems approach you...even in the face of a different person...

All of your personal challenges that you have refused to deal with or may have tried to hide in ways that have only harmed you and numbed the pain are revealed through divination…self reflection and must be dealt with, if you truly wish to be mentally free.

This is what real spiritual work is all about. No longer being a doormat to a family member or a friend is a part of real spiritual work. Learning to say NO when it is time to say NO...

No longer being afraid to take chances and do an activity that is outside of your norm but will pay off in a tremendously positive way...only if you can have the courage to move in a new direction…is spiritual work...

True spiritual work…

True spiritual work does not always feel good. True spiritual work does not care about likes and follows. True spiritual work is often done alone. True spiritual work may cause you to lose friends or love family members from a distance as you heal yourself and find out who you really are...so you can be a better family member and a better friend for those who truly love and respect you. If they really care about you they will respect and support your journey and if they don't then that is a que from your inner spirit to keep moving forward. It is a time of needed change.

True spiritual work is not trending...it is not the flavor of the moment...it is not viral...but the benefits are outstanding if you can stay the course...The new person that you will become is worth the effort.
