Picture it. It was Ontario 2019. I was a few months shy of turning 40 and completing my certification as a health coach. I had no plan, and no idea what it meant to start a business or be an entrepreneur, but what I did know was that I was ready to take a step towards exploring what my bigger purpose was.

And so (and I assume this is what other entrepreneurs do when they are ready to start a business), I did a name search, registered my business, and sat in front of my computer screen thinking to myself what now?

As someone who does not do well with idle time, and certainly excited about what this new journey would reveal and be like, I got to work. I created a logo (well not me perse, I enlisted the brilliance of my friend who is a graphic designer), content for a webpage, started an Instagram page (follow me at metomo.health!) and began envisioning all the clients I would work with, what I would do, and how I would support them. For me (and very early on in the game), entrepreneurship was about perfecting the craft you had committed to do and demonstrating yourself as a subject matter expert. Now while some of that remains true, the journey of Me to Moi Health would be one of the most revealing experiences of my life.

You see, as I created programs, thought about the journey I wanted to take clients on, how I wanted to support those who sought my help, I realized that everything built for Me to Moi Health was a homage to my personal journey. For those who have followed me, read my book, or know my personal story, what you may already know is that for many many years, I was focused on other people’s perception of me. Perhaps not completely a people pleaser, I was someone however, who felt that my value was held in the hands of those whom I deemed to have greater relevance or power over me.

I worked the extra hours, took on additional work (with no compensation), enhanced my skills through training (at my own cost sometimes) in hopes of people around me “seeing” me. And what I would come to realize and experience was that what they saw was someone who was “led” easily. I wasn’t a leader. I was a strong supporting “actor” who made the lead actors look amazing. And because I believed that I was “seen” – I waited in anticipation for the small credit that would be thrown my way. Problem was – I didn’t realize I signed up for the silent role!

You see, Me to Moi Health was birthed out of a burning desire to empower others…to empower MYSELF to know that I had worth, carried value, and deserved a seat at the table DESPITE a limited others had about me.

Sidenote: For those who may be wondering where the name Me to Moi came from – I am a born and raised Montrealer, who is fluently bilingual. Now while Quebecoise French is not eloquent, I always believed that French was seen as a language that reflected elevation and sophistication. At the onset of my journey to becoming a health coach, I knew that my desire was to help people see their higher self. That “me” was their current state, and once coached by me, they would achieve their elevated and desired state – “moi”. And voila – born was Me to Moi Health.

These last five years has been a whirlwind. And not so much because of what I have been able to achieve, how the business has grown and the opportunities that continue to present themselves  but more because of who I have become.

I am affirmed in my purpose, in my power, and this gift that was bestowed upon me. I am no longer willing to dim my light to create comfort for others. I am relentless in my pursuit for greatness (as I see it), and I am unruffled by those who are ruffled by my confidence and assertiveness.

Me to Moi Health reflects my growth, and my commitment and passion to empower others to see themselves as great. And while my business is still a baby, you better believe the entrepreneur behind the name is Grown and elevated AF!
