Van Gogh’s Sunflowers Turned Into a 2,615-Piece LEGO Set

Lego has teamed up with the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam to create a 2,615-piece set based on Vincent van Gogh’s Sunflowers painting.

According to DesignBoom, the set features 16 sunflowers and these have adjustable petals. There is also a removable frame, a hanger so you can fix your creation to a wall, and there is also a tile with the artist’s signature.

The set is available for pre-order for $199.99 and will be available from March 1st.  An installation of the Lego creation will be on view in the Van Gogh Museum from June 2025. After that, it will move to the LEGO House Billund and LEGO World in Utrecht.

Fast Company says that the biggest challenge for the Lego team was “re-creating the “impasto effect,” wherein Van Gogh heavily layered on paint”. “We are incredibly proud of the result and hope our fans enjoy building it as much as we enjoyed bringing Van Gogh’s masterpiece to life,” designer Stijn Oom said.

“We hope this Lego set will inspire and engage new audiences with the art and life story of Vincent van Gogh,” Rob Groot, the museum’s managing director, said in a statement. Lego sets aimed at art lovers already include Van Gogh’s Starry Night; Art Hokusai’s The Great Wave and Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa.
