According to the American Institute of Stress “77 percent of people experience stress that affects their physical health and 73 percent of people experience stress that affects their mental health.” Chronic stress has been linked to several health conditions such as cardiovascular disease, cancer, chronic pain, autoimmune conditions, insomnia and mental health conditions.

The truth is that in order to truly beat burnout, we need to adopt unconventional strategies that are often overlooked in traditional self-care practices. In this article, we'll explore some of the radical paths to self-care and personal freedom that can help us break free from the burnout cycle and find lasting peace and fulfillment. The first strategy is to embrace the power of silence. Studies have shown that mindfulness meditations reduce stress and anxiety, can ease pain and bring a sense of calm. By being silent it allows us to not only reflect but it will allow us to gain clarity. This allows us the ability to navigate the challenges of everyday life in a more productive and less stressful manner. Another unconventional strategy to beat burnout is to incorporate more play into our lives. Embrace our inner child! As kids we were carefree and were drawn to play as well as creativity and imagination, but somehow along the way when we grew up those things became simply a childhood memory. We became focused on the real world of work and no play and began living in survival mode! Engaging in play and creative expression allows us to tap into our inner child, release stress, and reconnect with the joy and spontaneity of life.

The practice of breathwork is another proven strategy that helps to reduce stress and improve your overall health. The practice of breathwork is anything but new and has been used in various cultures over time. They understood the connection of the body, mind and spirit and the importance of the breath. It is the key to life. So many people don't even realize it but they don’t breathe correctly. By practicing full deep breath exercises, you can lower blood pressure and bring more relaxation to the body as well as the mind.

Finally, another great practice to radical self-care and personal freedom is connecting with nature. It is truly one of the most satisfying things you can do to beat burnout and reduce stress. Try implementing the previous strategies in nature, in the park and you will notice a difference. Notice the trees, the birds, all of the animals as well as the other people around you. You connect without saying a single world to the environment around you. It is a beautiful gift.

Now, you may be wondering how these practices help you when you are at work and you have to deal with difficult bosses or co-workers. You simply learn to operate in a state of F.L.O.W (Feeling Love Overflow Within). When you emit more positive energy, you will see it will come back to you. The more someone tries to ruffle your feathers so to speak and it has no effect on you they will eventually become disinterested.

Beating burnout isn’t difficult, it simply requires repetition if we want to radically improve strategies for self-care and personal freedom. Our health is in our hands for us to change it and no job or anything else should come in the way of that. We need to think limitlessly and know there is no box! The only box is the one we create for ourselves. We have the ability to create the life we want once we decide!
