When I first started my business years ago, I remember feeling overwhelmed, confused, and scared.

I thought I had to do it all and learn everything to grow a successful business. I jumped into every training I found interesting hoping that they would teach me what I needed to know. To help me get the knowledge I needed so I could finally justify and feel good about charging people. As if my worth somehow was connected to my income.

I listened, I learned, and I procrastinated. But I never felt confident in my own wisdom or had that deep feeling of "I got this!" no matter how many trainings I took.

It wasn't until I became really clear on who I was and what my message was that I saw a shift in my business (and life). Suddenly, things fell into place, and I finally saw the path. Almost like the puzzle piece that I had tried to force in place finally fit.

Often our path isn't visible until we are clear on 3 fundamental things - our niche, our message, and our zone of brilliance.

Until we are crystal clear on those three things and let them fuel the way we show up and market ourselves, chances are we will feel the uncertainty, the confusion, and the pain of doing and doing and doing and never really having anything to show for the efforts.

This crucial step is often overlooked in many programs. And it's what makes so many entrepreneurs quit and give up before they see the success.

Once we have clarity on who we help, what transformation we offer, what purpose we serve, and have a vision that supports that purpose, we can focus on the right strategies and move forward with creating a business we love.

We get to connect our WHY and our PURPOSE with what we do because if we are not anchored solidly in our purpose and the reason we are becoming entrepreneurs in the first place, this journey can get rough. And it can get mighty lonely.

Answering the following questions will support you to get that clarity on your purpose and your message. This part will take some effort, though. The answers cannot come from outside of you. It will take some digging and leaning in, and being willing to hear what’s coming up for you. It will take you being willing to sit in the not knowing for a bit and being receptive so you can hear what your heart is saying.

If you feel like you have been struggling in your business lately and don’t have the clarity you desire, give yourself the gift of surrendering to the not knowing and sit in the space of curiosity and wonder for a bit. Grab a pen and paper and go to your favorite place in the house and start journaling.

You might find something new about yourself that you have yet to discover.

  • Who is that ONE person that you envision yourself to help?

  • What is the ONE problem you know you can help solve?

  • How will you help them solve that problem?

  • Why is it important to them to solve it?

  • Why is it important to you to help them?

  • What makes you the right person for the job?

Your why becomes your purpose, and your purpose becomes your message. Your message comes from knowing who you are, owning your gifts, and embracing your story. We are all brilliant in our own way, we just get to believe we are.
