In my journey as an entrepreneur, leader, and woman, I’ve learned that true vitality goes far beyond physical fitness. It’s about living with energy, purpose, and a sense of balance. As the CEO of Ameritex Movers, which provides dependable moving services across the Houston and Dallas areas, and the founder of Miss Congeniality & Co., a digital marketing agency, I’ve learned that nurturing my mind, body, and spirit is essential to being the best leader I can be. It’s not just about staying physically healthy; it’s about finding the practices that keep me grounded and energized to navigate the busy demands of daily life.

A nearly completed white jigsaw puzzle has one missing piece, which is being placed into the empty spot.

Every day presents its own set of challenges, but how I respond to them has everything to do with my overall well-being. In both my businesses and personal life, I've encountered situations where the pressure can seem overwhelming. Yet, through these challenges, I’ve learned invaluable lessons that I want to share, some of which were hard-learned, and others have become essential elements of my routine.

Finding strength through rest

For a long time, I didn’t understand the importance of rest. I used to measure productivity by how much I could accomplish, often pushing myself to the point of exhaustion. As a business leader managing multiple endeavors, I soon realized that my energy had limits, and burnout was a real risk.

Running a company like Ameritex Houston, where we help people transition smoothly to new homes across locations like Irving, Houston, The Woodlands, and Dallas, or managing Miss Congeniality & Co., where I guide other businesses to success in the digital world, demands focus and energy. I found that rest became an integral part of my ability to do both effectively. Whether it’s taking a short nap, a few quiet moments to reflect, or simply prioritizing a good night's sleep, I’ve learned that rest isn’t just a luxury; it’s a necessity.

Nourishing my body, nourishing my life

As someone who’s always on the go, food sometimes becomes an afterthought. Yet, I’ve learned that what I put into my body directly impacts my energy levels, creativity, and clarity. Nourishing my body is not just a health choice; it’s a lifestyle decision.

Running businesses that require a lot of energy, whether it’s organizing a big move for a family in Katy with Ameritex Movers or strategizing the next campaign for a client at Miss Congeniality & Co., has shown me the importance of maintaining balance in everything I do. I focus on eating whole, plant-based foods when possible and try to minimize processed foods that can leave me feeling sluggish. And yes, life is meant to be enjoyed, so I don’t shy away from occasional treats. After all, food is meant to celebrate life, not just fuel it.

Hydration: The simple secret to vitality

It might sound trivial, but staying hydrated has been one of the most effective and simplest ways to stay energized. It’s easy to overlook in the rush of entrepreneurship, but I’ve made it a point to carry a water bottle wherever I go. Whether I’m overseeing a complex move for a family in The Woodlands with Ameritex Movers or managing digital strategies for my clients with Miss Congeniality & Co., hydration is a non-negotiable part of my routine.

Hydration is key to not only feeling more energized but also improving focus and reducing stress. It’s a small but powerful form of self-care that supports my overall vitality.

Staying active–in my own way

I used to think I had to follow a strict fitness routine to stay in shape, but as my schedule became more demanding, I realized that staying active doesn’t have to mean intense workouts. Sometimes it’s simply taking a walk, doing a few stretches, or dancing around my office for a few minutes to clear my mind. Consistency is key.

Whether I’m balancing client projects or organizing a moving day for clients across Houston, taking the time to move my body, even just for a few minutes, helps me reset, clear my mind, and keep my energy flowing.

Stress is part of the journey, but it doesn’t define me

Stress is inevitable. Whether it’s navigating a stressful moving day with clients or dealing with the pressures of running a business, I’ve come to accept that stress is a natural part of the journey. But I’ve also learned that how I manage it can make all the difference.

Mindfulness and simple breathing exercises have been key in helping me manage stress. Taking a deep breath before reacting, whether in the middle of a stressful moving process with Ameritex Movers or managing a project with Miss Congeniality & Co., helps me reset my perspective and approach every situation with clarity and calmness.

Living in alignment with my purpose

Life has a certain flow when you’re aligned with your purpose. For me, leading two businesses that I’m passionate about has brought a sense of fulfillment and drive to my daily life. At Ameritex Movers, I’m driven by the desire to make people’s lives easier during one of their most stressful transitions, moving. It’s about delivering not just a service, but a stress-free experience. At Miss Congeniality & Co., I help other entrepreneurs find their voice in the digital space, empowering them to grow their businesses with confidence.

Every day, these companies fuel me, and that drive is what keeps me focused on my personal and professional growth.

Building meaningful connections

As a business leader, I’ve learned that the people I surround myself with matter just as much as the work I do. I used to think I could handle everything on my own, but I quickly realized that building strong relationships, whether with my team at Ameritex Movers, my colleagues at Miss Congeniality & Co., or with mentors, has been essential to my success.

Collaborating with others and learning from them has sparked new ideas and opened doors to new opportunities. These relationships have brought both joy and purpose into my life, showing me that vitality is not just about what we do individually but about the connections we create and nurture.

Reflection on growth and hope

Recently, I faced the anniversary of a deeply personal moment: the passing of my former husband. As I reflected on this, I was reminded of the importance of growth and resilience. Life is full of challenges, but it’s how we face them that shapes our journey.

As I sat in a cozy Airbnb in the Southwestern United States, traveling solo, I reflected on the many moments of growth I’ve experienced, both in my personal life and in my businesses. In those quiet moments, I realized that living our best life is about embracing each chapter of our journey, even the difficult ones. No matter the obstacles, there’s always potential for new beginnings.

Through my businesses, my relationships, and my practices, I’m learning that life is about embracing the journey, celebrating each day, being intentional about nurturing our well-being, and finding fulfillment in the process. Whether you’re moving to a new home, building your business, or navigating life’s changes, vitality is about living with purpose, energy, and grace.
