There is no textbook for being human. We all deal with what comes to us on a daily basis. We do what we need to do because that’s what gets us through. But then, one day, we start to feel uncomfortable about sitting still and letting life happen to us. We push back at being out of control. We don’t want to accept being unwell, stressed, and tired anymore. We get fed up with the struggles of life. Plus, we’ve seen the marketing messages out there. The ones that tell us that life is supposed to be better. That we can have everything, we want that we can live the life of our dreams.

We’re promised a healing journey.

So… we buy the program, the package, the book, the movie, the video, the mentoring, the course – whatever it is that promises us salvation.

We feel the exhilaration of hope – the possibilities that will become available when we’re through the other side, and we’re lifted up and out of everyday life.

We step into a new world, where we follow the prompts, the scripts, the advice, and the process.

But then it doesn’t work.

And we’re left to sink back into traversing the daily struggles of once again being human. Hopes dashed. Staring bleakly at the everyday grind.

We’re left wondering what’s wrong with us.

The marketing promised that if you follow the steps, you’ll be transformed. But here you are, still stuck in your life.

‘What’s wrong with me?’ is the question that keeps running around in your head. Closely followed by ‘Why couldn’t I make this work?’… and then the depressing thought that you’ll be this way forever.

If it works for ‘everyone’ else, then surely it should have worked for you too… right?

‘It’s not you, it’s them’ is the easiest way to change your thinking.

We’re not handed a manual on how to live our lives – because there isn’t one.

Any book, program, mentoring, tool or resource out there that promises you that if you follow specific steps, then you’ll transform your life is point blank lying to you.

It’s literally not possible for you to follow someone else’s steps to the letter and achieve the results that they have – because they are not you.

Following what someone else tells you to do has two major flaws:

  1. It relies on someone else’s opinion of who you are and what you need; and

  2. What YOU need has a depth, heart, insight, and vulnerability that only you can possibly know about yourself – no one can know this for you.

You’re far too unique and individual to implement someone else’s life solution and have it work for you.

Daily struggles are the result of shying away from doing the work.

You’re struggling because you’ve stepped back and let others do your work for you.

The second you hand over responsibility for your life, you step away from doing the work you need to do to be the best version of yourself.

It’s YOUR opinion of you that matters.

It’s YOUR connection to yourself that drives the direction your life takes.

It’s YOU stepping forward and consciously making the decisions that are right for you that puts your life in flow.

You can’t find the ease and grace in life if you place your self-worth and self-achievement in someone else’s hands.

Yes, others can give you a map – but that’s just an invitation to go on an adventure. The map is in your hands, but YOU’RE the one that gets to decide which turns you take, whether you stop over and explore an area more, what activities you do along the way, and where you stop, rest, relax and recover.

If you really want to traverse your life in a different way, the first step is to consciously make the decision that you’re taking back control of the decisions you make for your own life.
