The loss of a loved one can leave an indelible mark on our hearts, often making us yearn for connection long after they have departed. While we cannot change the fact that they are no longer physically with us, the truth is that everyone has the capacity to connect with their loved ones beyond the physical realm. This series of articles explores ways in which you can develop your mediumship abilities to foster communication with those you have lost.

Understanding mediumship

Mediumship is the ability to communicate with those who are no longer living on the Earth plane. It involves raising our vibrational frequencies while allowing those in spirit to lower theirs, enabling us to meet in the middle, hence the term "mediumship."

With practice, dedication, and an open mind and heart, we can all connect to receive messages, support, love, understanding, and compassion. It is essential to recognize that when our loved ones die, we do not have to wait until we pass away to communicate with them. Instead, we can develop a new phase of our relationship.

The first steps

  1. Examine your beliefs about mediumship closely. Take time to reflect on how your family background, culture, and education may have influenced your views on this topic. Ask yourself if these beliefs resonate with you at this moment. If you find that your beliefs feel true, consider exploring your reasons for wanting to connect with your loved ones in spirit. If you believe these ideas are untrue, are you open to being curious and exploring different perspectives?

  2. Reflect on your relationship with your loved one while they were alive. Now that they have passed, do you feel a need to work on forgiveness or express gratitude for their presence in your life? Dedicating time to "tidy up" our relationships opens a beautiful pathway to connecting more deeply with our loved ones in spirit. Ensure that you give yourself time with this step and that you are ready for connection.

  3. Be very honest with yourself about the fact that this process is about you and for you, regardless of what anyone else in your life may think or believe. When we feel a strong call to connect, that urge can become so powerful that the opinions or experiences of others no longer influence our commitment to growth and expansion.

  4. Be aware of any fears you may have regarding mediumship. Many people begin their journeys with the belief that it's possible to connect with "negative entities." However, with the right intentions and education, there is no need to engage with anything that feels frightening or unreliable.

  5. Keep a record of any signs, synchronicities, dreams, physical sensations, or spontaneous memories related to your loved ones in a journal or notes app on your device. Reflect on the time when they first passed away and document everything that has happened since then. Often, when we take the time to note these experiences, we are surprised by the overwhelming evidence that our relationships have continued and will continue to endure.

Find inspiration in others' journeys

Often, individuals who are not genuinely interested in mediumship or who hold strong opinions against it are the ones who receive messages at mediumship events. They might have been "dragged" to an event by a well-meaning friend or unexpectedly given a session with a medium. When these individuals receive confirmation that their loved ones can communicate through the medium, their perspective on the subject changes dramatically. It's as if a light turns on in a previously dark space.

In my experience working with individuals over the past decade and more, I have found that those who are the most skeptical, often the ones who dismiss such subjects, are also the ones who are most eager to learn how to connect on their own.

A real-life example

As a professional medium, I encountered significant resistance from certain family members regarding the way I chose to help others. One family member, in particular, was taken aback when I asked him if he wanted to hear a message from his deceased brother. The information I provided was very specific and turned out to be something that no one else in his life knew about. This moment marked a profound change in his beliefs and perspectives.

After this experience, he returned to me, eager to learn more about what I do and how I conduct my sessions. Through gentle teaching that facilitated his connection to the spirit world, he developed the ability to connect with his brother on his own. This newfound ability has not only transformed his views on mediumship but also changed his perspectives on life, death, and how he perceives the world around him.

Next steps

Article 2 in this series explores the concept of Soul Sanctuary, a space where you can connect with your loved ones through a self-guided meditative journey. No prior knowledge of meditation is necessary; all it requires is patience, trust, and a genuine desire to connect with your loved ones in spirit.

Article 3 delves deeper into expanding your Soul Sanctuary in supportive, nurturing, and simple ways to further develop your relationships with your loved ones in spirit and, quite possibly, members of your loving and benevolent spirit team.

Conclusion

Embracing mediumship as an accessible practice allows us to deepen our understanding of love, loss, and the connections we share. Trust in yourself and the journey. With dedication and an open heart, you can find peace in the invisible threads that link us across different realms. May you experience the comfort and love that transcends the physical world, serving as a gentle reminder that you are never truly alone.
