Do you journal? If so, how dedicated are you? If not, do you want to begin? When we first went into lockdown, while everyone was purchasing toilet paper, I looked for extra journals!

Why am I always pushing my coaching clients and students to journal?

  • Journaling is a wonderful and easy self-care practice

  • It is a releasing ritual ‒ an outlet to express stress, worries and fears

  • The ritual of sitting and writing signals it is time to relax and get to know yourself on a deeper level ‒ your essence

  • It brings to light patterns of thought, emotional reactions and behaviors

  • It creates a beautiful record of your life and allows for reflection of your growth and journey as you look back

  • It allows for the igniting of inspirational writing ‒ becoming in touch with your soul and inner wisdom (this is my personal favorite reason!!)

Tips on how to begin a journaling practice:

  • Make a sacred space for journaling. Make sure you are sitting comfortably, in a space which allows for quiet reflection. Perhaps outdoors, or in an area of your home, you do not work! Light a candle or incense, play soft music, put a crystal on your lap! Use a pen whose ink flows well and find a journal that inspires you

  • Begin by using a mantra, “I AM devoted to spending a few minutes each day for a week to writing and expressing the inner workings of me”

  • These create a ritual and rituals always motivate us

My favorite places are on the beach or sitting comfortably on a couch with soft music and a cup of tea! How can writing help you?

Journaling is a great self-care practice. It is inexpensive, you can choose the amount of time devoted to it and is very self-reflective. It allows you to be aware of what you need to feel more fulfilled and can also reveal your purpose! Writing can also bring out gratitude in a natural way. Enjoy!!
