From Healing to Guiding Others – Exclusive Interview with Betiana Marquez

When Betiana Marquez arrived in New Zealand in 2019, she couldn’t have imagined how much her life was about to change. What began as a personal journey of self-healing soon transformed into her life’s mission to help others reconnect with their health, find balance, and feel truly empowered in their own bodies.


Today, through her brand BET Health Coach, Betiana guides women and men toward sustainable well-being by combining holistic nutrition with a unique focus on hormonal balance, an often-overlooked factor in achieving lasting results. She is a Certified Holistic Health & Nutrition Coach through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN). She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science and Technology, giving her a strong scientific foundation paired with real-world expertise.

What inspired you to create BET Health Coach?


My journey began with my own struggles. After moving from Argentina to New Zealand, I went through a period of profound transformation – physically, emotionally, and spiritually. I faced challenges that pushed me to reconnect with myself, heal, and redefine who I wanted to be.


During this time, I discovered I had a hormonal imbalance that showed up in ways I couldn’t ignore, acne, irregular periods, unexplained weight gain, fatigue, and hair loss. I thought I was “doing everything right” – eating healthy, exercising – but nothing truly worked because I wasn’t addressing the root causes.


Along the way, I met two extraordinary women who guided me through that period of uncertainty. Their support taught me that true transformation requires more than following a diet, it comes from understanding the deeper factors that influence your health.


That experience inspired me to become a guide who helps others uncover the root causes of their challenges – especially those struggling with weight loss despite doing “everything right” – fostering balance from the inside out, creating lasting change, and achieving true holistic wellness.


To equip myself with the tools to support others through experiences similar to my own, I combined my degree in Food Science and Technology with training as a Holistic Nutrition Coach, a specialization in hormones, and a course in Angelic Reiki. By merging my professional knowledge with my personal journey, I created BET Health Coach, a holistic approach that integrates nutrition, hormone balance, lifestyle,  emotional and spiritual wellbeing.


How do you define “optimal health” for your clients?


I love this question because “optimal” means much more to me than simply feeling “normal.” Normal is common – but common doesn’t always mean optimal.


Many times, what appears “normal” in a lab test is not necessarily optimal for a person’s health. I teach my clients to listen to their bodies and recognize symptoms as signals that something needs attention.


For me, optimal health is personal – it’s about feeling your best version, in balance internally and externally, aligned with your lifestyle, values, and goals.


What are the biggest challenges people face when trying to improve their health?


I believe the greatest challenges fall into three main areas:


  • Information overload: We live in a world full of conflicting advice, quick-fix diets, and wellness trends that promise everything but often leave people feeling lost, frustrated, and defeated.

  • Hormonal imbalances: Especially for women, it can be incredibly discouraging to feel like you’re “doing everything right” or hear from a health professional that “everything looks normal,” yet still experience symptoms and see no results – simply because the root cause hasn’t been addressed.

  • Time and daily demands: Many people tell me they don’t have hours to cook, exercise, or focus on themselves. I show them that it’s possible to make small, realistic changes that fit naturally into daily life – and that true health is about balance, not perfection.


My mission as a coach is to change that story. I help my clients cut through the noise, uncover the real obstacles holding them back, and create simple, realistic routines that fit seamlessly into their lives. The result? Sustainable transformation that impacts not only their health, but also the way they feel in their own bodies – empowered, balanced, and in control again.


What differentiates your programs from other nutrition plans?


What sets my programs apart is that I see each person as truly unique and bioindividual. I take the time to listen deeply to each client’s story, symptoms, and especially the subtle signs of hormonal imbalance that are often overlooked or considered “normal.” My focus is on helping clients understand the root causes behind why they may not be reaching their goals, rather than offering generic advice or one-size-fits-all diets.


I guide and support clients in making informed choices about nutrition, lifestyle, and daily habits to achieve goals such as weight management, hormone balance, and sustainable healthy routines. Education and empowerment are central to my approach. That’s why my programs include a supermarket session, where clients learn practical shopping strategies, how to read labels carefully, and how to avoid being misled by attractive marketing claims.


I also bring my strong intuition and spiritual awareness into every session, helping me tune into what each client truly needs on a deeper level.


My clients don’t just follow guidance – they gain knowledge, confidence, and long-term support to create a healthier, more balanced life that fits their unique needs.


What can someone expect in their first session with you?


In the first session with my clients, I really take the time to get to know their health story, daily habits, nutrition, and the challenges they’ve been struggling with – whether that’s weight, low energy, or hormone imbalances. I also guide them through the Circle of Life exercise, which helps them see where their life feels balanced and where it might need more attention.


We then go over their nutrition on the plate, looking at how food choices are impacting their body, energy, and hormones. I always make sure they leave that very same day with clear, practical advice they can put into action straight away. After the session, I send them personalized recipes, meditations, and educational tools so they feel supported every step of the way.


Most of my clients finish the first session feeling relieved, motivated, and empowered, because for the first time, they have a personalized roadmap that makes sense for their body and goals.
