What you choose to believe is your superpower. Or, it could be your super-limiting power. How you frame your beliefs can make the difference between success and failure. Consider if your beliefs are empowering your life or disempowering your life.

Limiting beliefs are beliefs we hold about ourselves, others, our circumstances, or the world around us, that limit our potential and hold us back from achieving our goals. These beliefs can be formed from our personal perception of our past experiences, societal conditioning, or self-doubt.

How limiting beliefs hold you back

Limiting beliefs can have a significant impact on our lives, keeping us stuck, and holding us back from achieving success and reaching our full potential. Interestingly, the beliefs you hold may not actually be true: you just choose to believe they are true. They can affect various areas of our lives, such as relationships, careers, finances, health, and personal development. Here are a few examples of limiting beliefs and how they can hold you back:

  • "I'm not good enough": This limiting belief can cause you to doubt your abilities and hold you back from trying new things or taking risks. It can lead to feelings of low self-esteem, anxiety, helplessness, and depression.

  • "I'm too old/young": This is a limiting belief that you are not capable of achieving your goals simply based on your age or stage in life. It might lead to feelings of self-doubt and hold you back from pursuing your dreams or taking on new challenges.

  • "Money is the root of all evil": This limiting belief can lead to a scarcity mindset and a fear of taking risks or investing in yourself. It can hold you back from achieving financial success and living the life you desire.

Notice what you notice

If you are unsure whether you have limiting beliefs that are holding you back, here are some things to consider:

  • Listen to your inner dialogue. Do you hold back unnecessarily from saying “yes” and recognise that your default thoughts are “no, because…”?

  • What do you say out loud? Be aware of how often you say “I can’t”.

  • Ask your close friends and family if they notice evidence of your limiting beliefs.

  • What are some goals or dreams that you have not pursued, and why?

  • What are some beliefs you have about yourself or the world that might be holding you back?

  • What are some insecurities or doubts that you have about yourself or your future?

How I can help

As an NLP Master Coach trained professional, I use specialised and proven techniques to help you overcome limiting beliefs and achieve your full potential. These tools work at both the conscious and unconscious levels of the mind. By targeting the unconscious, we bypass your critical thinking and target deep-rooted patterns of unhelpful beliefs. Some tools and techniques to help you change your thought patterns and belief systems include:

  • Reframing: This technique involves changing the way you think about a situation or problem. By reframing your thoughts, you can see the situation in a more positive light and find new solutions.

  • Anchoring: This technique involves creating a positive association with a particular state of mind or emotion. By anchoring a positive feeling or emotion, you can access it more easily in the future.

  • Timeline Therapy: This technique involves working with your unconscious mind to release negative emotions or limiting beliefs that are linked to past experiences.

I can help you identify and overcome your limiting beliefs, release negative emotions, and develop a more positive and empowering mindset. I can work with you to overcome any obstacles that may be holding you back, and to create a personalised plan to help you achieve your goals.

Imagine living a life of limitless thinking.

Now imagine how that would change your life for the better!
