In life, we encounter many situations that put us in various emotional states – from mild irritation to anxiety, which exacerbates stress. Stress is not solely determined by what happens to us but rather how we deal with such situations.

Five Elements That Can Help In Stressful Situations

1. Physical Activity

When the body is stressed, we produce a stress hormone called cortisol, responsible for the body's "fight or flight" response. Regular physical exercise helps reduce stress; this can include going for a walk, cycling, swimming, or dancing. The most important thing is to get out of the house and stay active.

2. Free Time

A common source of stress is the long list of tasks we have and the lack of a plan in our lives. It's best to find a passion that we enjoy, as it can help clear our minds. Choose activities that stimulate you both physically and mentally and help you relax. This could be cooking, reading, or playing a musical instrument. The key is consistency and doing what we genuinely enjoy.

3. Digital Detox

This is particularly important if work is a significant source of stress for you. If you find yourself glued to your phone and laptop during evenings and weekends, you need to establish boundaries and adhere to them. You use your computer while working, so when you get home, put away your laptop and phone and learn to relax. It's beneficial to establish a work schedule that regulates working hours and plan your work effectively, considering what can wait until the next day. Giving yourself time to unwind in the evening can make you more productive the next day.

4. Setting Boundaries

Setting boundaries is an effective way to manage stress, particularly in terms of work-life balance. It's also important to set boundaries with friends and family, as they often have high expectations of us. Establish limits on the time you can devote to a particular person. When you set your boundaries, others tend to respect them too.

5. Healthy Diet

Did you know that following a healthy diet can alleviate stress? Everything in the body is interconnected. Strengthening your immune system can counteract stress. Therefore, it's worth focusing on healthy foods, preparing delicious dishes, and staying hydrated by drinking plenty of water.

Each of us knows which methods of dealing with stress work best for us. However, if you can't find a solution that suits you, it's worth seeking advice from a specialist. This way, you can regain control of your body more efficiently and achieve balance in your personal and professional life.
