Three little words I’ve repeated to myself and to my clients thousands of times, "You got this!" Those words help me brave storms and conquer challenges. They give me a moment of strength, just what I need to shift my mindset or perspective. There’s something so powerful about these three words that drives motivation, builds resilience, and reminds you that you are stronger than your doubts. Just being able to tell yourself, “You got this,” and then give yourself a clap or pump that fist can really help you get started or push through something tough.

How to get started using these words

So, how do you begin using these powerful words when you need them most? I encourage you to begin by repeating, “You got this,” at least three times a day. Say it in the mirror, in the car, or quietly to yourself before tackling a task. Over time, this simple practice will begin to rewire your mindset, replacing negativity and self-doubt with confidence and resilience. Eventually, these words will come to you naturally, right when you need them most.

Why even bother?

What makes this phrase so effective? It's short, personal, and affirming. It speaks directly to capability, confidence, and self-trust. These are qualities we all need, especially when facing uncertainty. Believing in your ability to succeed is crucial, and this phrase serves as a daily reminder of that belief. Plus, why not give it a try? It takes only a few seconds each day, and those few seconds can spark a shift in mindset, motivation, and overall positivity.

Final thought

Sometimes, we challenge ourselves with questions like, “Can I really do this?” or “Should I go ahead and try this?” The answer? Yes, you got this!

You don’t need to have everything figured out. You just need to believe that you can take the next step, and then get started. So, the next time you find yourself questioning your abilities, doubting your strength, or facing something new.

Pause. Take a deep breath. Say it out loud. You got this!
