I was not surprised to see that 'Satisfied' from the musical Hamilton featured as my most played song of 2020, with 94 streams since July 7th. This song literally got me through the summer months of lockdown.

The underlying message in this song really started to ring true for me. One of the big themes for me this year has been slowing down, this has been one of the hardest things for me to do, but it also allowed me to reflect on the fact that I was always trying to get somewhere.

It became clear to me that I was so focused on reaching my next goal, I was not able to find peace in the moment. I constantly overlooked how much I had achieved and underappreciated all that I had created.

This was a direct reflection of what had happened in my life & career to date, yet when I was given the time to slow down, instead of using it to take a break and acknowledge how far I had come, I redirected all of my energy into starting my business.

I had got caught up in another hamster wheel of doing more and avoiding the uncomfortable feelings that were surfacing, which eventually resulted in falling out of love and losing connection with what I was trying to create.

In a few short months, my business became more like a job and another thing that I wanted to escape from. I was constantly wanting to get to the final destination, always wanting more, and never feeling satisfied with where I was.

This is an exhausting cycle to be in, and it left me feeling uncertain, unfulfilled & overwhelmed, forcing me to go inwards in a way that I hadn't done before. I never thought that it would be possible to feel that way about something I was so passionate about.

Have you ever tried sprinting a marathon?

That's exactly what I was trying to do. I hit the wall and was heading straight for burnout. I had literally set myself up for failure.

Have you ever given up on your dreams because you thought there had to be a quicker way to get there? Or blindly followed a path that is not meant for you because someone else told you that was the way to do it?

There is an illusion about what it really takes to be successful in your life & business.

So many people are looking for a quick fix, trying to find the short cut to success, motivated by money and disconnected with who they are and what they truly desire. In order to create lasting change, we have to be willing to do the work that will lay the foundations for our future.

If you are showing up as an Entrepreneur, you are already finding the courage and strength to face your fears, to be seen, to fail and to fly. You have taken center stage and the world is your audience, but what song are you singing? What message will you share? The real key to knowing what you want to do, is understanding what your driving force is and what you are passionate about.

Are you making decisions from a place of joy or fear?

Fear-based decisions carry an energy of lack and often leave you subconsciously feeling that no matter what you do, it will never be enough. Are you doing things because you are scared of losing something, or do you have a fear of not being able to keep it?

When you do what makes sense based on what other people are doing, what you think is ‘right’ or what will pay back the quickest, you are neglecting the abundance that is available to you.

When you align with joy and embrace the co-creation process, you will feel such certainty with every cell in your body that people need to hear your message, regardless of the outcome and without expectation.

Playing the long game doesn't always return immediate financial results and it is by no means the easy road, but in my experience, it has been worthwhile. It has taught me forgiveness, compassion, self-love and resilience. It has not been without challenges, but the lessons have been invaluable.

Are you prepared to take the road less traveled?

"Two roads diverged in a wood, and I. I took the one less travelled by, And that has made all the difference." - The Road Not Taken, Robert Frost

Many will blindly follow the path that those have trodden before them. There are those that will look at the path less traveled but decide not to take it, then there are the leaders and change-makers who know that it is their soul calling to choose the path where few people have gone before them.

Here are my 3 top tarot tips & to help you navigate the road less traveled:

  • Go back to basics

When you feel like giving up, dig deeper than you ever have before. Use all of the Mindset tools and rituals that you have learned on your growth journey. Don't just show up and talk about them, apply them to your daily life.

Create a solid morning routine. Every day make a commitment to get up, get dressed, brush your teeth and have breakfast. Set yourself up for success by giving yourself the best opportunity to clear your mind and breakthrough your fears and limiting beliefs.

  • Lay your foundations

Create structure in your long-term plan. Look at the bigger picture; use your logic & intellect to see past what is right in front of you and focus on the long-term strategy of where you really want to go and what you want to create.

Explore your vision and gain clarity on what it actually takes to get there.

  • Do what you love

Believe in yourself and do what brings you joy. Practice the art of allowing your intuition to guide the way and listening to when your Ego is trying to take charge. Your Ego is telling you what you want but your intuition is guiding you towards what you need.

Get honest with yourself about what it is you desire, your beliefs about making it a reality and release the feeling that you need to do anything else.

The fastest way forward is to see what's right in front of you, deal with the situation at hand and work on releasing resistance to what is keeping you stuck so that you can find the strength to push through challenges as you come up against them.

Remember, we all have free will. We always have a choice in everything we do.

Making a decision is not final, it is the start of a new journey. Surrender the need to know where this path is taking you and trust that when you listen to your heart you cannot go far wrong.
