Chronic pain, stress, and anxiety are among the most common and challenging health issues that many people face daily. They can significantly impact one's quality of life, affecting relationships, job performance, and life satisfaction. Therefore, it is essential to find effective ways of alleviating these conditions.

A woman is smiling and chatting with a fitness trainer while using a stationary bike at the gym, surrounded by others also working out.

Here are four basic options to consider

1. We can wait and hope these issues resolve themselves, but they rarely do

Other commitments or obligations may seem more important than taking the time to care for ourselves. We often "push through" the pain or ignore compounding stress. Anxieties or negative emotions can mount, leading some to seek escape through overeating, alcohol, or drugs. These can all take a toll on our long-term health.

2. We can treat the symptoms

First, we must acknowledge the problem and recognize its importance. Our healthcare providers are well-versed in treating symptoms. They may prescribe medications or recommend other methods to address the issue, such as physical or psychological therapies. These can be helpful and may even be necessary. However, it often does not stop the cause of stress, anxiety, or pain.

3. We can alter our lifestyle

Stop smoking, reduce alcohol consumption, get more sleep, improve your diet, lose weight, engage in physical activity, practice meditation, and spend time with friends and family. Studies indicate that lifestyle changes can result in a healthier body and mind.

These are all great options for mitigating pain, stress, and anxiety, but they may not be easy to accomplish by oneself. Our physicians rarely have the time or training to support us in making these changes. The good news is that a Health and Wellness Coach does

"Well-trained and certified health and wellness coaches with expertise in patient-empowering communication and behavior change engage patients to develop and implement a personal vision and plan for optimal health. With the coach's support, patients cultivate the internal motivation, confidence, and resources needed to start and sustain behaviors shown to prevent or treat chronic disease and improve health and well-being." 4. Determine which root-cause(s) may have affected the symptom

This option goes a step further by utilizing a personalized strategy to address specific contributors to the problem, whether they involve stress, lifestyle, beliefs, emotions, social factors, or a combination of issues. Root-cause health coaching helps clients identify and modify stress triggers by making small habit changes.

At Voltz Health & Wellness Coaching, clients benefit from a thorough service. Some individuals seek help with lifestyle changes, while others address the root cause of their symptoms. In both scenarios, clients depart with tools that provide balance and empowerment.

Clients have gained healthier perspectives and developed habits that lead to weight loss and notable reductions in blood pressure and cholesterol. Some have experienced pain relief and reduced anxiety. A systematic and consistent approach enables individuals to remain focused and make significant strides toward achieving their goals. Health and wellness coaches support and encourage clients throughout these changes.
