Who is David Lee Sheng Tin?

Dr. David Lee Sheng Tin is a health and lifestyle consultant, author, and speaker who helps individuals and organizations align outer success with inner fulfillment. With nearly four decades of experience in consciousness-based transformation, he integrates modern science with the timeless wisdom of Ayurveda, Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Transcendental Meditation. After overcoming a life-threatening illness in his youth, Dr. Lee Sheng Tin dedicated his life to understanding human potential and guiding others toward self-mastery. He served as National Director of the Transcendental Meditation movement in Trinidad and Tobago for 37 years and currently teaches at Maharishi International University in the United States. As creator of The 7-Step Self-Mastery Blueprint and RISE360 Corporate Wellness Program, he empowers professionals to cultivate awareness, resilience, and purpose for lasting well-being and success.

What inspired you to start your work in self-mastery and emotional wellness?

My journey into self-mastery began at twenty-one when I discovered Transcendental Meditation (TM). The profound inner silence, peace, and stress relief I experienced revealed a fundamental truth: self-mastery is essential for a fulfilling life. This inspired me to become a TM teacher, so I could help others access these benefits. Working with and studying under Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, the founder of Transcendental Meditation for over 25 years, allowed me to experience and understand how this simple meditation technique can open your awareness to an unbounded field of bliss, inner peace and creativity that resides within everyone.

My focus on emotional wellness emerged years later during a pivotal consultation with a client struggling with weight issues and health challenges. Despite seeking help from multiple professionals, she resisted every solution I offered. I recognized that unresolved emotional wounds had convinced her she was beyond help. Realizing I lacked the tools to address these deeper barriers, I committed to learning how to help people navigate their emotional landscapes–understanding that lasting transformation requires addressing not just symptoms, but the emotional roots beneath them.

How do you define the “inner divinity” you help clients connect with?

When people are asked, “Who are you?”, their answers often describe external identities – career, education, culture, or personality. These reflect the persona we present to the world. Yet, neuroscience and consciousness studies reveal that there’s a deeper dimension beyond the persona – the observing awareness that perceives our thoughts, emotions, and experiences.

In spiritual terms, this awareness is called the Self, soul, or Atma. I refer to it as your inner Divinity – the intelligent field of consciousness that gives rise to creativity, vitality, and emotional stability. Reconnecting with this inner dimension isn’t about adopting beliefs; it’s about cultivating self-awareness and coherence between mind, body, and consciousness. When that alignment occurs, qualities such as calmness, joy, and creativity naturally express themselves in daily life.

Why do you consider knowing your inner divinity important?

Understanding your inner divinity matters because it reconnects you with the deepest source of happiness and peace. Modern physics describes the universe as vibrating fields of energy arising from a unified field, and ancient wisdom calls this same field pure consciousness. From this field emerges the individual Self – your inner awareness, the quiet intelligence behind your thoughts and emotions.

As we grow, layers of conditioning – family patterns, social expectations, and cultural beliefs teach us to search for happiness in achievement, relationships, or material success. Our DNA carries ancestral patterns; society reinforces this outward search. Yet the qualities we chase outside – love, joy, creativity, peace are already present within us in the Self.

Without awareness of your inner divinity, life becomes an endless chase for fulfillment that never arrives. When we lose touch with this inner source, life becomes a cycle of striving without true fulfillment, which is why even high achievers can feel empty or turn to unhealthy escapes. When you redirect attention inward and experience your divine nature, life transforms. Peace, harmony, and joy arise naturally–not from external circumstances, but from remembering who you truly are.

This isn't spiritual bypassing; it's accessing your authentic power source. Your inner divinity isn't something to believe in – it's something to experience and live from.

What are the most common blocks you see people face when moving from stress to fulfillment?

Many people believe managing stress, being successful, and staying healthy equals fulfillment. While important, these bring only temporary relief. True fulfillment arises when we reconnect with our deeper self, the quiet awareness beneath our constant thoughts and emotions. Chronic stress keeps the brain's survival centers overactive, trapping us in anxiety, overthinking, and exhaustion. Fulfillment requires a shift in consciousness. When the mind becomes still, the brain moves into coherence, allowing clarity, creativity, and joy to emerge naturally.

Transcendental Meditation offers a scientifically validated path to this stillness, lowering cortisol and enhancing emotional resilience. However, inner peace also depends on managing daily emotions. Unresolved negativity, anger, fear, and self-doubt – create blocks that disconnect us from our deeper self. When we learn to observe and master these emotions, we shift into a higher state of awareness where fulfillment isn't something we chase – it's something we embody.

How does your holistic approach integrate mind, body, emotions, and spirit?

At the heart of my holistic approach is the experience of transcendental consciousness, the profound state during Transcendental Meditation when the mind transcends thought and touches pure awareness, the Self. In this state, mind, body, emotions, and spirit naturally align and unify. This daily practice of experiencing wholeness, combined with cultivating self-awareness and emotional mastery in everyday life, forms the foundation of how I work with clients. True integration isn't just a concept – it's a lived experience that transforms how we show up in the world.

Can you walk us through a typical transformation your clients experience?

Transformation begins with the experience of deep silence and peace through meditation. This regular inner practice releases accumulated stress and creates coherence in the brain, particularly activating the prefrontal cortex – the region responsible for emotional intelligence, reasoning, and decision-making. As the nervous system stabilizes, clients naturally become more centered and clear-headed.

The next stage involves learning to navigate negative thoughts and emotions through self-awareness and emotional mastery. As clients develop these skills, the changes ripple outward: relationships deepen, health improves, and a sense of genuine fulfillment emerges. They shift from surviving to thriving – no longer reacting to life's challenges but responding from a place of inner strength and clarity.

What makes your method different from other wellness or coaching programs out there?

Most wellness and coaching programs focus on physical health, mental fitness, and external success. While valuable, these approaches often miss the essential foundation: connecting with your deeper self through direct experience, not just intellectual understanding. My method emphasizes the practice of transcending – regularly experiencing inner bliss and peace–as the cornerstone of lasting fulfillment.

What sets my approach apart is the integration of this inner experience with practical tools for daily life. Through self-awareness and emotional mastery techniques, clients learn to navigate negative thoughts and emotions effectively, transforming obstacles into opportunities. This combination of deep inner experience and practical outer skills empowers you to create a purpose-driven life rooted in authentic fulfillment, not just achievement.

How do you tailor your programs to meet both professional success and inner peace?

True success isn't choosing between career achievement and inner fulfillment–it's mastering both simultaneously. I tailor my programs by addressing both sides of the human experience–the outer drive for achievement and the inner need for balance, purpose, and emotional well-being. Through my 7-Step Self-Mastery Blueprint and RISE360 program, professionals learn how to expand self-awareness, strengthen emotional intelligence, and cultivate the clarity needed to excel without burning out.

These programs combine science-based tools with consciousness-based practices to help participants transform stress, regulate emotions, and dissolve limiting beliefs. At the same time, they build resilience, focus, creativity, and leadership presence skills essential for modern professional success. A core element is guiding individuals to reconnect with their inner divinity, the deeper source of intuition, calm, and authentic power.

The result:

Professionals discover they don't need to sacrifice well-being for success. Instead, by accessing their inner divinity, they perform at higher levels while experiencing greater peace, purpose, and joy. By integrating practical strategies for high performance with inner practices that nurture peace and fulfillment, the programs empower professionals to thrive in their careers while experiencing greater harmony, purpose, and joy in daily life.

Who is your ideal client and when is it time for someone to call you?

Anyone who is interested in living 200% of life – 100% outer achievement and 100% inner fulfillment. The time to call is now. Don’t wait until stress, burnout get the better of you.

What quick shift can someone start today that will move them toward more fulfillment?

Take time for deep introspection. Start by examining what success and fulfillment mean to you. Question: Why are you here? What is the purpose of your life? What does spiritual growth mean to you and how can you grow spiritually? Look at what pushes your emotional buttons. Finally, take time to relax and enjoy the simple pleasures of life – family, friends, nature. And create moments every day to experience and express joy because life is here to enjoy.
