Wealth is beyond money. We each get to define what wealth means to us. The meaning and concept of wealth is personal. As a society we do not talk about what wealth means to us. There is an assumption that wealth is defined as financial wealth, but wealth is beyond money. This is a concept I empower my clients and followers to think about. I want to challenge you to think about what wealth means to you. Before reading the rest of this article take a moment to write down your idea of wealth. How does the word wealth make you feel? What comes up for you?

Talking about wealth can make people uncomfortable and even be triggering. The reality is most of us are wealthier than we realize. Redefining wealth is a concept that goes beyond traditional beliefs of financial prosperity to encompass a more holistic view of abundance and well-being.

Wealth is beyond material possession

While financial wealth is one aspect, rethinking wealth involves recognizing that true abundance encompasses more than just monetary and tangible assets. It includes aspects such as physical health, mental well-being, fulfilling relationships, personal growth, and a sense of purpose and meaning in life. Which comes back to the concept that wealth is beyond money. Looking at the quality of your life is a big part of rethinking wealth because it involves shifting the focus from accumulating material possessions to enhancing your quality of life. This can look like prioritizing experiences over possessions, investing in experiences that bring joy and fulfillment, and valuing time and relationships as invaluable assets. When you find the things that bring you joy in life and set your soul on fire those are the things you should invest in and direct your money towards.

The wealth mindset

A wealth mindset empowers you to recognize and appreciate the abundance already present in your life while being open to opportunities for growth and expansion. Rethinking wealth involves clarifying what truly matters to you and intentionally designing your life around those priorities.

Authentic connection is wealth

Having healthy and meaningful relationships is a pilar of wealth. The people you share your life with, whether it is friends, a romantic partner, or family contribute to your overall wealth and having time and energy to nurture these relationships is wealth. If you are spending most of your time and energy working to accumulate financial wealth these other areas will reap the consequences.

Inner wealth

Instead of only focusing on exterior wealth, inner wealth refers to qualities such as happiness, emotional intelligence, self-awareness, and spiritual fulfillment. Rethinking wealth involves recognizing that these inner qualities are just as important, if not more so, than external measures of success.

Time and freedom are wealth

When you have the time and freedom to do the things you love with the people you care about that is true wealth. Living a purpose driven life where you are internally fulfilled will bring you much more joy than filling your life with material possessions. When you think of wealth in these terms most of us are wealthier than we think.

Reflect on the wealth in your life

I want to bring you back to what you wrote about wealth when you started this article and see if your concept of wealth has shifted. I encourage you to write about the wealth you have in your life using the concepts described in this article. If you step back and look at all the wealth that surrounds you in your life it will bring you to a place of gratitude and gratitude is the key to abundance. Health is wealth. Time is wealth. Connection is wealth. Purpose is wealth. Wealth is beyond money.
