Non-negotiables are what we hold as absolute truths, the principles and values that guide our decisions and actions. They are the foundation upon which we build our lives and relationships and are essential to our personal and professional success.

In my years of teaching and coaching, I have found that the most successful people have a clear understanding of their non-negotiables and live by them daily. In addition, these individuals have a strong sense of purpose and can navigate the challenges and obstacles that life throws their way with grace and determination.

So, what are non-negotiables, and how can we use them to create the life we truly want?

First, let's define what non-negotiables are not. They are not goals, which are specific outcomes we want to achieve. Rather, non-negotiables are the underlying principles and values that guide our actions and decisions. For example, one of my non-negotiables is honesty. This principle guides my interactions with others and shapes how I conduct myself personally and professionally.

Non-negotiables are also not flexible. They are not something that can be compromised or negotiated. They are non-negotiable.

Now, let's talk about how to identify your non-negotiables. The first step is to take some time to reflect on what is truly important to you. What are the principles and values that you hold dear? What are the things that you would never compromise on? These are your non-negotiables.

Some examples of non-negotiables include honesty, integrity, authenticity, compassion, and respect. Once you have identified your non-negotiables, writing them down and making them a part of your daily life is essential. Keep them somewhere visible, like on a bulletin board or in your planner, so that you are reminded of them every day.

Once you have your non-negotiables, you must use them to guide your decisions and actions. When faced with a difficult decision or a challenging situation, ask yourself how your non-negotiables apply. For example, if one of your non-negotiables is honesty, and you are faced with a decision requiring you to be dishonest, you know that the decision does not align with your values.

It's also important to remember that non-negotiables are not just for personal use. They can also be applied in professional settings. In any business or organization, non-negotiables provide a framework for decision-making and serve as a compass for the company's direction. In addition, having a clear set of non-negotiables helps to ensure that all employees are on the same page and working towards the same goals.

In conclusion, non-negotiables are the principles and values that guide our decisions and actions. They are the foundation upon which we build our lives and relationships and are essential to personal and professional success. By identifying and living by our non-negotiables, we can create the life we truly want and navigate the challenges and obstacles that life throws our way with grace and determination.
