As the holidays approach, I want to take a moment to say thank you. This season can be especially tender for grieving hearts, and I am deeply grateful for the grief warriors I have the privilege of sharing space with. Each of us brings our own niche, education, and way of supporting others, but together we form a collective whose shared goal is simple, to help hurting people feel seen, supported, and less alone during some of the most sensitive seasons of loss.

Grief is heavy enough without having to hunt for help in a thousand different places.

If you’ve ever tried to find support after a death, divorce, diagnosis, or any life-shattering loss, you already know how confusing it can be. There are therapists, coaches, podcasts, camps, and apps, but very few places that say, “Here are trusted grief warriors who get it. Start here.”

This piece is my way of saying thank you to some of the voices, communities, and creators who hold space for grief with courage, truth, and heart. Together, they remind us that no one has to carry loss alone.

What follows is not a complete directory. It’s a growing circle of supportive grief warriors across North America, people and places I trust, who are doing powerful work in their own corners of the grief world.

DEAD Talks and GriefJourney

Founder / Host: David Ferrugio

GriefJourney is a grief-support app that offers personalized daily reflections, guided rituals, journaling tools, and ways to gather memories of loved ones. It uses a simple onboarding questionnaire to tailor each person’s experience and delivers weekly themes that blend personal stories, insights, and thoughtful prompts. The goal isn’t to “get over grief” but to learn to live with it, turning isolation into connection and loss into meaning.

The customization is what sets it apart. The app adapts to how recent your loss is, how many people you’re grieving, and the type of loss you’re carrying. The result is daily support that reflects your reality, not a generic “one-size-fits-all” grief script. It is robust enough to stand on its own and flexible enough to be used alongside any other support system, including therapy, coaching, groups, or the other grief resources featured in this article.

DEAD Talks is a candid, thought-provoking podcast that opens up the conversations most people avoid, including death, grief, loss, and what it means to truly live. Hosted by David Ferrugio, who lost his father on 9/11, the show blends vulnerability, curiosity, and humor to make difficult topics feel human and accessible. Each episode features guests from all walks of life, including experts, public figures, survivors, afterlife practitioners, and everyday people with extraordinary stories. Together, they explore how grief shapes identity, how we move with it, and how confronting death can teach us more about life.

With the combination of DEAD Talks and GriefJourney, David’s work supports grievers in two powerful ways, deep, honest conversations they can listen to any time and daily, customized guidance they can carry in their pocket.

Why these connections matter

No single program, podcast, app, or coach is the answer to grief.

But together, these grief warriors form a net, a web of support that catches people in different seasons and different kinds of loss. Some offer education, some offer stories, some offer spiritual or energetic work, some offer structured coaching, and some offer spaces for kids and families to gather and remember.

If you are grieving, or you love someone who is, consider this your reminder:

You do not have to do this alone. There are people and places built for exactly this kind of pain. And there is an entire community of grief warriors who are thankful to walk beside you while you heal.
