Confidence comes from the Latin word ‘fidere,’ which means ‘to trust.’ This trust can show up in the form of our desire to speak in front of an audience, to perform our job, run our business, down to doing our daily work. This, in turn, continues into the lifelong pursuit to find programs or classes to build confidence and learn skills to develop our confidence.

Much of the programs for confidence, though, are developed by focusing on the mind, where we use to recall a memory from knowledge and skills learned as we practice to respond. It will build upon or shift our thoughts as to who we are and bring in the belief of self-assurance or self-confidence.

To share an example of how confidence from the mind is expressed, the following is a brief example of a personal quote that I wrote on a social media post. My quote states:

“The stories of your past are not always a story to remember and work through. It is just energy to be recognized”.

There were commenters on the post that understood the meaning of the quote, but there were some who wrote on how one can learn from the past to how the future is where you apply the lesson.

These responses about the past are an example of how quickly we reach into our remote or recall memory to respond. Those responses about past stories came from acquired knowledge and did not respond to the entire meaning of the quote.

It has been my contention that we can’t build confidence through acquired knowledge or bring in information from outside of ourselves as it covers up who we are. Additionally, the stories that come up from our past do not always block the expression and feeling of confidence.

Rather, we are all born with confidence.

Each and every person is a confident human being, and this confidence comes from our soul.

This is our soul confidence.

Soul confidence is being able to recognize the stories without having to go into our stories, and instead, it is recognized as energy. The energy that arises as we tap into our soul confidence comes in all forms. It will come up as emotions such as anger, frustration, or sadness. The emotion is not meant for us to dig further into the reason why we are experiencing the emotion, but rather to just experience it just as it is. When the emotion is not experienced as is, it can settle into our body as physical pain.

Energy.

We as a society have been trained, and it has been ingrained in us that if we experience a negative emotion, there must be a tangible reason for it. Could it be from a past fear? A past negative experience? When we explore this mentally through our thoughts, it keeps us in a never-ending loop as we attempt to discover the root issue to heal from.

When we discover the root issue, we develop an attachment to that root issue and create new stories.

The bottom line is that we can’t heal completely from exploring the root issue from our minds connected to our emotions.

We can only fully heal when we experience our emotions in connection viscerally and intuitively within our bodies.

Now let’s begin the connection with soul confidence. The first step is recognition and awareness. The following is a four-step process to begin:

  1. Read the following quote that was written from the beginning of the article. “The stories of your past are not always a story to remember and work through. It is just energy to be recognized”.

  2. Write down what comes to your mind immediately.

  3. Now close your eyes and take a deep breath in. Upon breathing out through your mouth, feel your body inside. Feel the energy push down and into your sacral area near your diaphragm towards your back.

  4. Now, as you continue to feel in your body, reread the quote and write what comes to you unhindered.

Notice the sensations from your body. What are you sensing? There may be emotions that come up. Just sit with it. These senses and feelings are energy for you to just experience without going into further analysis with your mind.

What you have experienced here is just the beginning.

This is not a journey but the beginning of our evolution.

It is then, and only then that we will experience the full and complete confidence and trust in ourselves during our life.

Our soul confidence.
