Have you ever wondered how to make that post-vacation beach glow we all lust after your everyday look? Search no more sweet friends; the answer is simple, sulfur-rich foods!

Why sulfur for glowing skin?

I suppose you are like me; you probably associate sulfur with the fart-like after essence of eggs or a just-lit match. Sulfur is so much more than it has been given credit for; I believe it is the secret beauty mineral for naturally glowing skin!

A popular spa treatment at spas located near natural springs is a ‘Sprudel Bath.’ Similarly to the one found in French Lick, Indiana, at West Baden Springs Hotel. I highly recommend it! The water will be hot, dark, and will have a strong smell of boiling eggs.

Sulfur helps your body do three things;

  • Digest Fats

  • Controls your metabolism of carbohydrates

  • Rids the body of the waste that clogs your skin pores, causing that lackluster complexion some of us know too well.

What is the fastest way to glowing skin?

If you have access to natural spring water, bathe in it, or at the very least, put some of the spring water into a jar and use this water as a part of your daily facial hygiene routine. If you do not have access to natural spring water or the ability to do a weekly mineral spa treatment and you want The Glow, you will need to adopt the habit of eating sulfur-rich foods in your daily diet.

I can imagine it does not come as a surprise to hear that sulfur-rich foods are those we tend to avoid given their overwhelming ability to cause an unpleasant, lingering aroma and tendency to cause flatulence. Trust me when I say embrace the incredible power of our cruciferous friends- cauliflower, broccoli, cabbage, bok choy, kohlrabi, brussels sprouts, and more- they will have your future self thanking you for ‘The Glow’!

Here is a healthy, delicious recipe to help you get started, including more sulfur in your diet:

‘The Glow’ Salad:

Arugula, chopped

Watercress, chopped

Kale (few leaves)

4 radishes, sliced

1 bell pepper, sliced

½ c purple cabbage

1 avocado, diced

Hemp or pumpkin seeds

*BONUS* ‘The Glow’ Dressing:

1 garlic clove, minced

1 tsp ground mustard

1 lemon, juiced

¼ bunch fresh parsley chopped extra fine

4 basil leaves

⅓ c extra virgin olive oil

Can you answer ‘YES’ to any of the following questions?

  • Is your skin prone to acne?

  • Do you have brittle hair and nails?

  • Do you have a pale, pasty complexion?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, then it is time to include sulfur-rich foods in your diet. If you fear the accidental, mistimed, sulfuric fart on aisle 4, I recommend carrying around a pack of matches.

In my coaching practice, I help my clients shortlist sulfur-rich foods that will be best for their unique body and diet to get glowing again! Click HERE if you would like to schedule a time to talk with me about making sulfur-rich foods a part of your daily eating routine!
