Everything has its season. Just like the seasons change, your food gets cold after being warm, or your food gets hot after being cold, everything has its season. Some seasons are filled with wins. Some seasons are filled with losses. Some seasons are filled with love, heat, and shelter. Some seasons are filled with loneliness, and you're standing in the storm alone. Regardless of the season you're in, it's your mindset that's going to pull you through.

What is adversity?
Adversities are difficulties and/or misfortunes. Despite how we may feel, no one is exempt from trials and tribulations along their journey. It is within these tests where we really find out what we're made of. It is within these times of uncertainty that not only do we find out what we are made of, but we also find out what the people around us are made of as well.
"Smooth seas have never made a skilled captain."
"Adversities aren’t put in your path to remind you of how weak you are, but as a reminder of how strong you are."
No one is exempt from adversity. No one is exempt from making mistakes. No one is exempt from struggle, hard times, or periods of confusion. Oftentimes, we look at the image that people attempt to portray and think that their life has been error-free. We see the vacations, the flashy cars, and the big homes, and we assume that their journey has been smooth sailing and that they fell on top of the mountain. But that couldn't be further from the truth.
Adversities aren't punishment. Adversities are simply life's way of reminding us that we aren't really in control of 100% of our lives. We are only in control of how we respond to it.
Learn to step out on faith
There's a quote that breaks this down perfectly by Joel Osteen, "Fear and Faith have something in common. They both ask us to believe in something that we cannot see." As it pertains to this conversation, you can't be in two places at the same time. You can't operate from fear and faith at the same time. You don't learn resilience through fear, it's acquired through faith. You don't learn to be courageous through fear, you learn it through faith. You don't learn how to be the best version of yourself without learning to step out on faith.
Mastering ‘The art of gratitude’
Mastering "The Art of Gratitude" is the greatest gift that we can give ourselves because we will see that there is no life greater than the one we are living. Gratitude is also the difference between winners and losers. Losers complain about everything going wrong, and winners express gratitude for the things going right. Gratitude is embracing both the good and bad because you need a perfect balance of both to grow and succeed. Anybody can express gratitude when things are going right, but the real superpower is to express gratitude when things are going wrong.
When you can give thanks in the middle of the storm, you are showing The Universe your strength by rising to the occasion and relying on your faith versus being crippled by your fear. In order to get to where we want to be in life, operating in a space of gratitude is a must.
Success has never been linear
A common misconception that a vast majority of people have is that success is supposed to be linear. The truth is, success has never been linear. Not once in the history of mankind has success ever been a straight shot. From the outside, it may seem like it was a straight shot, but if you do your research, you will see the struggles of any big company, movie star, doctor, lawyer, or entrepreneur that came before the glory. Every person on this planet has had their share of adversity, and people often say, "This isn't talked about enough." I'd like to argue that it is talked about enough, but only in conversations where people have overcome similar adversities.
Our mindsets hold the key
Our mindsets ultimately hold the keys to the doors that we want open. If we believe that we can achieve anything we put our mind to, we will be more inclined to do the work. If we don't believe we can, we won't even attempt it. Our mindsets determine if we will be courageous through adversity. Our mindsets will determine if we will be intentional in our efforts. Our mindsets will determine if we will get swept away by hard times or if we will plant ourselves in unwavering faith to withstand the storm. Our mindsets play a crucial role in our evolution as individuals, and if it's a genuine peace of mind, resourcefulness, happiness, or simply reconnecting with ourselves that we are after, then it's only right to pay the dues of adversity.
Growth isn’t supposed to be comfortable
On this journey to wherever you're trying to get to, you must be willing to break out of your comfort zone. Growth doesn't come from being comfortable, it comes from learning how to manage being uncomfortable. Greatness isn't given, it is earned. Success isn't given, it is earned. Whether you're competing for the same spot as a million other people or you're carving out your own lane, you must make yourself uncomfortable to grow.
‘Solve et coagula’
A lot of people assume that the healing journey is all sunflowers, rose petals, and sunny days. What sends them through the blender is the version of healing that doesn't involve any of the things that were just mentioned. One of my favorite sayings is an old Latin phrase used in Alchemy, "Solve et Coagula." In English, it translates to "dissolve and conjoin." When you look at adversities and the lessons they bring, we engage in this process every single time it's time to level up. In other words, every time we feel like we are being broken down, we are actually being given the chance to rebuild ourselves into something stronger.
You are both the marble and the sculptor
Manifestation is deeper than speaking it into existence and letting The Universe do its thing. Praying is deeper than trusting God to make a way out of no way. In both situations, you have to do your part in preparing yourself for what you're asking for. Adversities give you the opportunity to look at things from a different perspective. From this angle, you’re able to make the necessary changes that will help you learn the lesson. Your mindset is the chisel, and your actions are the mallet. You create your experiences through maintaining the proper mindset and through resilience.
10 reasons why resilience is a necessity
You win the battle upstairs
When we win the battle upstairs, we are upgrading our conviction to match our destiny. Before you can say, "I deserve better," you must believe that you deserve better. When you're taking those risks in your career by applying for that promotion, launching your own business, preparing to make life-altering changes, or simply deciding to blaze your own path, you should be confident in the results. Even if the results aren't what you expected, if you win that battle upstairs, you will be attracting more situations that are meant for you.
You take inventory of what you need, leave everything else
When we take inventory of the things that we hold on to each day, we should make room for what we want to experience by letting go of the things that no longer serve our purpose. Instead of getting jealous of others when they are presented with opportunities that we feel we deserve, we should focus on sharpening the skills necessary. This way, when our number is called, we will be prepared to jump into the game with no questions asked.
You remember why you started
When we remember where we are headed, we understand that facing adversities is only a test to see if we stand on business. An arrow can only be shot forward by being pulled backward. When we keep the vision in front of us, we stop at nothing to achieve it. Remembering where we are headed is equally important because, when it's time to make decisions, we will always choose what will lead us to that destination.
Difficult doesn’t mean impossible
Nothing is out of your reach. Anything that you desire, if you reach out, you can have it. If you take that first step, you can have it. If you can take that 1,891st step, you can have it. If you can uplift yourself in the midst of storms, you can have it. If you really believe that it's possible, then you can achieve it. It may seem like it's far because of the magnitude of your goals, but with diligence, perseverance, unwavering faith, and a sprinkle of divine timing, everything will change.
Direction is more important than speed
By understanding the direction you're trying to go in life, you are giving yourself instructions or laying the blueprint for your goals. Secondly, you understand that it's not who did it first but who did it correctly. Lastly, when you know where you're going, you are giving yourself an incentive to stick to the plan.
Perseverance is power
Understanding that perseverance is 100% a mental game, in the event that trials and tribulations come, you will still be able to move forward without tearing yourself down, losing faith in the process, or throwing away all of your hard work. When it comes to moving forward in life, we must remember to stay focused on the mission at hand.
The play doesn’t care who makes it
No matter how you feel, you gotta keep pushing. As 2 Chainz once said, "The play doesn't care who makes it." In translation, the work has to be done. It could be by you, chasing your dream, or by somebody else chasing theirs, while you continue to sit in procrastination. I get it, you may not want to do it. You may not even feel like it. But why sell yourself short and do nothing when you can continue to show up for yourself by doing the work?
You will become a master at manifesting
We were all created to be masters at manifestation, but what separates the talkers from the doers is focus. By remaining focused, you are aligning yourself with the things you want and the person you want/need to be. When you are truly tapped in and one with the process, you will notice how everything comes together like magic.
You will gain strength
Faith and patience can only be strengthened in times of uncertainty, confusion, and misdirection. Determination, grit, and focus can only be sharpened through adversity. You see, we need the bad times so they can mold us into who we need to become to enjoy the good times.
Most importantly, you are performing the highest form of self-love
When we learn to celebrate who we are, reflect on all that we've been through, and give thanks for what's to come, we begin to make room for other blessings in our lives. It is during your darkest times that loving who you are right now will pull you together and say, "You know what? We may have made some mistakes, we may have had our hearts broken, we may have gotten fired from our jobs, we may have made poor decisions in the moment, but you know what? That's okay."
At the end of the day, the choice is yours
I believe in you, and I believe in your capabilities. I believe that if you remain focused, you can achieve anything your heart desires. I know you’ve been through a lot these last few years, but it’s time to move forward. You can go to any therapist or specialist in the world, and they can give you the best advice you’ve ever heard, but without application, it's going to be in vain. We are entering a new season of our lives, and this new stage requires more faith, more action, and more resilience.
