Introduce yourself! Please tell us about yourself and your life, so we can get to know you better.

Let me start by saying, thank you for having me. This feels like an important opportunity for my work to be brought into this space.

Working with the subtleties of energy healing and the truths behind hundreds of years of clinical practice can be somewhat outcast.

My first memory of speaking the truth was in middle school, when my teacher was speaking to us about Incas and Aztecs. I had an overwhelming feeling of anger and passion. I stood up and told her she was wrong. I received a harsh punishment, and it has taken 30-odd years to find my voice again.

The voice I speak of is (in my belief system) guidance from spirit, source or ancestors, whichever your belief system can hold. We are all privy to this ‘voice’.

I am an artist first, above anything else, and I have a deep intention to create beauty in the world. I also have a gift to be able to see people at their very best, like seeing a sculpture inside the stone, we work together to carve the master piece out.

My work is my passion. I adore people; they fascinate me. I am just as keen to explore humans as I am nature; there is no difference in my mind. I really don’t consider my work as a job, but rather playing. I feel incredibly humbled to have the gifts I have and try to help as many find theirs as possible.

I am forever the student, and every person I meet is a new adventure.

What inspired you to start Everybody’s Den?

My son, in short. We were left as a two-some when he was 2 weeks old. Our bond was incredibly strong. While breastfeeding him, I received the vision for E:Den, and it blew my mind. I couldn’t believe that a plan as big as E:Den was possible at the time, but slowly it has all come together. And to anyone out there thinking the same, anything is possible!

What does the name “Everybody’s Den” represent to you?

I was brought up as a Christian (Church of England) and have always had God in my life. The vision for E:Den was originally called ‘ANCHOR, We got you’, but it didn’t resonate and didn’t take off. When Everybody’s Den came in, I saw the image of my logo (which is the apple, my son and I). It landed, and things moved incredibly quickly.

The name is abbreviated to E:Den to symbolise the knowledge being passed from my son to me. He has taught me so much! But “Everybody’s Den” is speaking to providing a place of safety, nourishment and connection where wild mammals can be themselves.

E:Den is a collection of all the modalities my son and I connected with to help us heal and flourish during a very traumatic time. Play, dance, sing, art and nature.

What challenges have you faced as a small business owner in this space?

I think challenges have been incredibly useful to our growth and necessary. There have been so many. I think the main thing I face personally within the sector is that people are hesitant to try things that are not usual. But I feel like opportunities to see our work and see that we do not use medications, etc, help. Also, we push the comfort of belief systems, which for many can be triggering, which we welcome, as this too is part of the process of healing.

I have worked in many business sectors, and I believe that recommendations are better than any marketing strategy. Organic growth has always felt more aligned for me, although much slower, it is built on trust and firm foundations. Which I believe to be so important in this industry.

What’s next for Everybody’s Den? Any upcoming launches or goals?

I am looking to move on to our own site, so that we can expand into the fullness of the E:Den vision, with an art studio, sewing studio, community kitchen, shops, inside and outside areas for healing, and so much more.

We are launching the Website pretty much at the same time this will be coming out (I hope), which has been a very long time coming.

Individually, my work has been climbing in intensity for some time, and I am so excited to share the benefits with the community, after having a year off to purely invest in myself.

Tell us about your greatest career achievement so far.

There have been so many, wow! I feel so grateful! I think, recently, releasing my Oracle deck ‘AEIOU’ was an initiation. I am a self-published author and artist, so this was a mix of skill sets. I have already started on another and I am writing another book, I feel lost without creativity in my life, my house is covered in ‘projects’. I must admit, what others may interpret as a success, I may be inclined to pick things that bring me the most personal joy. Being hugged by over 100 people as they sang ‘OM’ repeatedly over me after an event I held space at was very special! Will not forget that in a hurry!

If you could change one thing about your industry, what would it be and why?

Autonomy. There is a strong narrative that ‘professionals’ know more about the client’s body and mind than the client. I think we, as an Industry, have to humble ourselves on the altar of the human experience and acknowledge that we can never know it all, and make every effort to make sure the ego doesn’t get in the way with diagnoses. I have met this professionally and personally, so I have felt it from both sides. I believe there is a beautiful dance to be had between client and practitioner, if we listen a little deeper and have the curiosity of a child’s mind.

I also believe that one day our whole industry should be free. Or that I am out of service! Whichever is first.

Tell us about a pivotal moment in your life that brought you to where you are today.

Becoming a mother. My son has been the catalyst for my healing, and therefore, everything that happened since. He is 6 years old, and told me recently that he wanted to be a teacher. I said to him that he already was! I believe we are born with our gifts, and if nurtured, they flourish, and we can experience life the way we were born to live. He is the most profound teacher I have ever encountered!
