Emma Patricia Collins (Trisha), Menopause Movement Coach

Introduce yourself! Please tell us about yourself and your life, so we can get to know you better.

Trisha is a certified Menopause Movement Coach with a professional background in psychology and leadership. In her 40s, she made the bold decision to retrain as a gym instructor and personal trainer. This was driven by her deep passion for helping women in midlife reclaim their strength, vitality, and confidence during the often overlooked transition of menopause.

Frustrated by the sea of misinformation online, Trisha combined her academic knowledge with lived experience to create Midlife Mavericks, a vibrant community that blends mental and physical well-being with meaningful social connection. Her mission is simple but powerful, “to empower women to be seen, feel supported, and strong”.

When she’s not leading healthcare teams, coaching, lifting weights, or whipping up something nourishing in the kitchen, you’ll likely find Trisha strolling along the coast or countryside with her partner. Or hanging out with her daughter and slightly mischievous parrot, who keep her grounded and laughing.

What inspired you to start Midlife Mavericks?

Midlife Mavericks was born from a combination of personal experience and professional insight. I saw how many women felt invisible, overwhelmed, or disconnected during menopause. I knew that I needed to change. I wanted to create a space that felt safe, empowering, and real. A place where women could be seen, heard, and celebrated, not just for surviving midlife, but for thriving in it!

What does “maverick” mean in midlife?

To me, a maverick is someone who dares to rewrite the rule book. A real disruptor, but in a positive way. Refusing to bend to the social ‘norms’ or media constraints of what ageing ‘should’ be. Midlife is about embracing change, challenging outdated narratives, and stepping into your own power with authenticity. Mavericks aren’t reckless, they're resilient. curious, courageous, and unapologetically themselves. Through the Midlife Mavericks community, I aim to highlight those qualities and help women reconnect with their inner fire.

What challenges do your clients face, and how do you help?

The most common struggles I see are brain fog, fatigue, body confidence issues, and emotional overwhelm. Many women feel like they’ve lost themselves. Through coaching, education, and community, I help them rebuild clarity, resilience, strength, and self-trust. Whether it’s through CBT techniques, fitness plans, or simply holding space for ladies to share their stories, my work is about guiding women back to themselves.

A memorable transformation?

One lady came to me feeling utterly defeated, her confidence was at rock bottom, and she felt disconnected from her body and mind. Through our sessions, she began to understand her symptoms, reclaim her voice, and even start strength training. Watching her go from self-doubt to self-celebration was deeply moving. She now mentors other women in her own community, and I still get goosebumps thinking about her journey.

How do you stay inspired?

Honestly, the women I work with inspire me daily. Their stories, their grit, their humour - it’s contagious. I also stay energised by continuing my own learning journey, whether that’s through further education, reading the latest research articles, or collaborating with other passionate professionals. And when things feel uncertain, I remind myself why I started, so that I could be a lighthouse for other women navigating the fog.

One piece of advice for someone entering midlife.

You are not broken. You are becoming! Midlife isn’t a crisis, it’s a catalyst. If you’re feeling stuck, start by getting curious. What lights you up? What have you outgrown? Let go of who you used to be and embrace the person you are becoming. The Midlife Mavericks Community on Facebook is all about embracing this new chapter as a powerful rebirth, not a slow fade or end of story.

Career Highlight

Creating Midlife Mavericks from scratch, branding it, building the community, and watching it grow into a safe haven for women both on and offline has been my proudest achievement. It’s not just a community but a movement. And knowing it’s making a real difference is the most rewarding part.

If you could change one thing about your industry?

I’d challenge the lack of legit representation and education around menopause in fitness and wellness spaces. Too often, midlife women are overlooked or given generic or misleading advice by non-professionals. I’d love to see more tailored, evidence-based support that honours the complexity of this life stage. It’s not a one-size-fits-all. Women experience this stage differently, and it’s finding what works for you.

A pivotal moment.

The turning point came when I hit my own wall during perimenopause. I felt lost, exhausted, and frustrated by the lack of support. That moment of vulnerability became the spark. I realised I could either stay stuck or turn my experience into purpose. That’s when Midlife Mavericks was born, and now I’m looking to the future and hoping to grow this community further.
