Samantha Pope, Founder and Creative Director

Introduce yourself! Please tell us about you and your life, so we can get to know you better.

Hello, I am Samantha Pope, the Founder and Creative Director of Samantha Pope Interiors. Beyond my passion for interior design, I am also a proud mother of two and a devoted wife. My journey into the world of creativity began at a young age, when I developed a love for drawing and painting. However, a significant moment in my life, which shaped my aspirations, occurred during an unforgettable day with my father.

As a child, I accompanied my father to his workplace, where he taught upholstery at a college. I found myself propped up at a drawing board, surrounded by the incredible perspective drawings of furniture and forms. That very day, I became utterly captivated by the art of three-dimensional drawing and the artists’ drawing board. I vividly remember dreaming of the day when I could have my own drawing board, and that day finally arrived when I enrolled on my degree in Interior Architecture and Design.

Tell us about a pivotal moment in your life that brought you to where you are today.

A pivotal moment that profoundly influenced my journey occurred roughly ten years ago during my own home renovation. Living in a limited space with my family for two years before commencing the renovations taught me the vital importance of a well-designed home. I experienced first-hand the impact of functional and aesthetically pleasing interiors on emotional well-being and daily life. This revelation became the driving force behind my core values of Longevity, Well-being, and Understated Elegance. I realised that creating spaces that stand the test of time and enhance the lives of occupants was not just a professional aspiration, but also a personal mission.

My experiences during that challenging renovation period solidified my commitment to prioritising my clients' well-being in my designs. I wanted to craft spaces that not only looked beautiful, but also provided a sense of tranquillity and harmony, elevating the daily lives of those who inhabited them. This dedication to functionality and practicality became a cornerstone of Samantha Pope Interiors. The journey through my own renovation reaffirmed the value of thoughtful design, inspiring me to infuse each project with elements that promote well-being and serve the unique needs of my clients and their families.

What kind of audience do you target your business towards?

Our esteemed clientele typically comprises busy entrepreneurs who face time constraints and seek a trusted service to alleviate the burden from their shoulders. As a dedicated team, we work closely with our clients, becoming an extension of their vision and collaborating seamlessly to bring their dreams to life. What would you like to achieve for yourself and your business in the future?

In the future, my vision is to expand my team and reach a global audience. I am passionate about collaborating with other artists and exploring opportunities to design unique products. More importantly, I want to continue promoting well-being and sustainability in interior design, inspiring others to make conscious and impactful choices in their living spaces.

Who inspires you to be the best that you can be?

I am fortunate to have a strong support system that inspires me daily to be the best version of myself. My husband is my biggest fan and provides both emotional and business support whenever needed. His unwavering encouragement empowers me to push boundaries and embrace new challenges fearlessly. Moreover, my children are a constant source of inspiration in my life. I am deeply motivated to show them that with determination and perseverance, one can achieve their dreams. They have encouraged me to continuously better myself, fostering personal growth as I aspire to be a positive role model for them. Each day, I am driven to strike a balance between my professional endeavours and family life, ensuring that they see a strong, ambitious, and authentic woman who can achieve her aspirations while nurturing a loving home.

Staying true to my core values and beliefs is not only crucial in my personal life but also in attracting the right clients for my business. As I remain authentic to myself, I believe I will naturally attract clients who align with my vision and values, fostering meaningful and fulfilling partnerships that contribute to the growth and success of my business.

If you could change one thing about your industry, what would it be and why?

If I were to envision one significant change in the interior design industry, it would be a collective focus on embracing sustainability as a guiding principle. As luxury interior designers, we have the unique opportunity to influence and inspire our clients towards more eco-conscious choices. While achieving pure sustainability in the luxury design field may present challenges, every small effort can have a profound impact, when combined. By integrating environmentally responsible practices, such as using ethically sourced materials and eco-friendly finishes, we can contribute to a greener and more sustainable future.

One of the key aspects I prioritise in my design approach is considering the future of the furniture and spaces I create. Instead of contributing to the ever-growing landfill, I encourage the concept of reusability and repurposing. Designing furniture that can be easily dismantled and reassembled allows for potential reuse or adaptation in different settings. This approach aligns with the idea of designing the "antiques of the future," where each piece becomes a cherished heirloom passed down through generations, promoting a sustainable and timeless design philosophy.

While achieving complete sustainability may be a long-term goal, I firmly believe that every little effort towards environmental consciousness is a step in the right direction. By integrating sustainable practices and thinking about the long-term impact of our designs, we can contribute to a more mindful and eco-friendly interior design industry. Through our collective actions, we can inspire a shift towards greater sustainability, positively impacting both the well-being of our clients and the health of the planet.
