Introduce yourself! Please tell us about you and your life, so we can get to know you better.

Hello! My name is Jodie, and I'm excited to share a little bit about myself with you. I'm a dedicated Matrescence Motherhood Facilitator and Coach, passionate about supporting mothers through their transformative journey. I also have certifications in Nutrition, Health and Wellness Coaching, and a Women's Health and Hormones.

My life revolves around my two beautiful daughters who inspire me every day. We live in the beautiful islands of Fiji, where I work online, connecting with amazing women from around the world.

When I'm not coaching or spending time with my family, I love indulging in my hobbies, which include exploring new wellness trends, reading, and enjoying the serene beaches of Fiji.

What inspired you to start Flourish Wellbeing, and what is the mission or vision behind your business?

Flourish Wellbeing was inspired by my own journey through significant health challenges after the birth of my first daughter. I experienced severe postnatal depletion and depression, which took years to overcome. During my recovery, I developed a deep interest in the critical role nutrition, health, and wellness play in postpartum recovery.

After the birth of my second child, I became fascinated by the profound transformation women undergo when they become mothers. This led me to pursue certification in Matrescence and Motherhood coaching. By combining this certification with my expertise in Women's Health and Hormones and Nutrition, I can offer holistic support to mothers throughout their motherhood journey.

My mission is to help mothers achieve their health and wellness goals and to live the most vibrant life possible. I firmly believe that all mothers deserve to be heard, seen, and supported in their experiences. Through Flourish Wellbeing, I aim to create a nurturing community where mothers can truly thrive.

Can you describe the range of services and programs offered by Flourish Wellbeing and how they cater to the diverse needs of your clients?

Within Flourish Wellbeing, I offer a comprehensive range of services and programs designed to meet the diverse needs of mothers at various stages of their motherhood journey. My offerings include:

  1. Matrescence motherhood coaching: Personalized coaching sessions to support mothers through the transformative journey of motherhood. I focus on helping mothers navigate the physical, emotional, and psychological changes they experience.

  2. Nutrition, health, and wellness coaching: Tailored programs that emphasize the importance of nutrition and holistic health in postpartum recovery and overall well-being. I provide practical advice and strategies to help mothers achieve their health goals.

  3. Women's health and hormones coaching: Specialized coaching that addresses hormonal imbalances and women's health issues. I provide support and guidance to help mothers manage symptoms and improve their quality of life.

  4. Online group and 1:1 programs: Interactive workshops and group coaching sessions that foster community and peer support. These programs cover various topics such as self-care, stress management, understanding Matrescence and healthy lifestyle habits.

By offering these diverse services, I ensure that each mother receives the personalized support she needs to thrive. My goal is to empower mothers to live vibrant, healthy lives and to feel confident and supported in their motherhood journey.

How do you approach personalized wellbeing plans, and what factors do you consider to ensure they are effective for individual clients?

I believe in meeting clients where they are and recognizing that each person possesses their own wisdom and knowledge. My role as a coach is to guide and support them in reconnecting with themselves. While everyone is unique, especially in motherhood coaching, there are common themes many mothers experience.

I work with a 6-step framework that gently guides clients in redefining who they are becoming. This approach ensures that their individual needs and experiences are acknowledged and addressed.

Motherhood coaching requires a great deal of empathy, understanding, and patience. Often, a mother first needs to feel heard and have her experiences validated, as she may feel she "should" be feeling differently. In reality, her feelings are perfectly normal and valid.

By considering these factors and providing a supportive, non-judgemental space, I ensure that personalized wellbeing plans are effective and truly beneficial for each client.

Can you share any success stories or testimonials from clients who have benefited from Flourish Wellbeing's services?

Being able to help a mother through her matrescence journey is an honour I do not take lightly. Seeing the transformation that occurs throughout our time together is definitely the best part of my job. Sharing a testimonial below, it conveys the essence of what coaching with me is like.

“Being supported by Jodie on a regular basis has been a real blessing, and I am very thankful for it. With her kind heart, her compassion and her knowledge Jodie has been helping me to find my way through the challenges of motherhood, family trauma, relationships and my health. She holds a safe space with ease and grace, and in all our sessions I have always felt seen, heard and deeply understood. I very much appreciate Jodie's gentle but confident guidance and all the deep insights into women's hormonal health and nutrition. Her coaching skills are amazing, and I would recommend working with Jodie to all the mamas and women who feel like they need someone to support them”

What advice would you give to someone looking to improve their overall wellbeing and mental health, and how can Flourish Wellbeing support them in this journey?

My advice for a mother, or anyone looking to improve their overall wellbeing and mental health, is to surround yourself with supportive people who uplift and encourage you. Don’t hesitate to seek professional help if needed. There is no shame in needing help; in fact, especially in motherhood, we are not meant to go at this alone. Many years ago, there was a village that supported the mother, shared wisdom, and guided her, but we do not have that anymore.

I also encourage everyone to prioritize self-care. Self-care has become a bit of a buzzword within the health and wellness space, but its true meaning has often been lost. Firstly, self-care is not selfish, which is a big misconception within the motherhood space. It’s a necessity in order to care for others. Dedicate time each day to activities that nourish your mind, body, and soul. This could include exercise, mindfulness practices, or simply taking a moment to relax.

At Flourish Wellbeing, I am dedicated to supporting women and mothers on their journey to better wellbeing and mental health through a range of services. My personalized coaching sessions are designed to meet their unique needs, helping them set and achieve realistic health and wellness goals. We explore Matrescence and who they are becoming in a gentle and respectful way, a much need exploration for every mother. I take the time to understand each individual’s circumstances and tailor my approach to ensure the best possible outcomes.

If you could change one thing about your industry, what would it be and why?

It is not necessarily the coaching industry itself, but I wish I could make society truly value motherhood and mothers. For decades, motherhood has been undervalued, and women, in general, have faced significant challenges. While the feminist movement in the 60s and 70s brought some improvements in women's rights, it also inadvertently overlooked the importance of mothers. We are still recovering from this shift.

I love that there is now a focus on Care Feminism and Matricentric Feminism, which place the wellbeing of mothers at the center. These movements are gradually shining a light on the crucial role mothers play within society and the home. By recognizing and valuing motherhood, we can create a more supportive and understanding environment for all mothers.

Tell us about a pivotal moment in your life that brought you to where you are today.

My life has had many ups and downs, especially since becoming a mother. I had no idea that the transition into motherhood would be so challenging in so many different ways. All aspects of my life were affected: my physical and mental wellbeing, my relationships and marriage, and my sense of self. I hit rock bottom in 2016, dealing with postnatal depletion and depression. Overcoming these challenges took many years of therapy and self-discovery, learning about health and wellness along the way. This pivotal time in my journey led me to my passion for supporting mothers and founding Flourish Wellbeing.

I am honestly so proud of where I am today, both in my mental and physical health and as a mother. Becoming a mother has been the greatest joy and continues to be the greatest teacher in my life.
