With over 50 years in the travel industry, I’ve created a unique niche within a niche, offering exclusive luxury holiday packages to clients (not retail), working directly with DMCs and wholesalers, running my own team, and even managing an online travel health shop. My career has been built on blending creativity, expertise, and independence, showing that true freedom and resilience come from carving your own path and embracing every opportunity the world has to offer.

Starting as an independent travel entrepreneur, I faced the challenge of building a business from scratch while navigating a highly competitive industry. I quickly learned that freedom comes with responsibility, freedom to design your schedule, choose your clients, and shape your own success.

Travel has been my greatest teacher. Experiencing different cultures and meeting inspiring people has enriched my life and shaped my approach to business. I’ve learned that embracing uncertainty, whether it’s an unexpected flight change or a new opportunity, can spark creativity and growth.

Here are the principles I’ve found essential for thriving in self-employment or leadership:

  1. Embrace change: Flexibility is your greatest asset.

  2. Seek perspective: Travel, read, and explore diverse ideas, which fuel creativity.

  3. Invest in yourself: Learning and coaching turn challenges into opportunities.

  4. Prioritize freedom wisely: Being your own boss is empowering but requires clarity, planning, and discipline.

Whether you’re starting your own venture, exploring leadership, or seeking more control over your career, resilience, adaptability, and curiosity will guide you. Travel has shown me that the world is vast, challenges are temporary, and the possibilities for growth are limitless.

By embracing these lessons, anyone can create a life and career that feels truly free, while making a meaningful impact along the way.
