When working in a business field, business owners ought to put priority on their time. Many works have to be done, but with the limited time and human recourse, is there any shortcut to finish the tasks easier and faster? The usage of automation is the answer as it makes the work process keep working without human intervention by using technology. If there are any business owners who are interested in automation, read this article to find out more about automation before having one.

Let’s get to know about automation

Automation is the term for using technology to work on manual repetitive tasks. It is mostly used in tasks that take some time to finish for humans, such as collecting data or information categorizing. It is a quick and easy way to finish a consecutive-boring task because technology has no feeling and they never get tired or bored. In the business service field, automation can also increase customer satisfaction by providing urgent help and interacting. Using automation in your business can help you provide the information, track, or even give helpful instructions to customers and clients because it can proceed with its system right away. Before considering using automation, you should know all the processes in your company from start to finish. It could make you see an overall picture of your company, so you will decide easier which task can be automated. It is important for you to understand the entire process because automation has a specific role in its system. Therefore, just single automation cannot help you perform every task, so in order to get the best outcome, please consider if it will help you perform the tasks better or not.

Types of automation

We can use automation in various fields of business such as accounting, IT, human resources, or any other field which requires much paperwork and sometimes requires many employees to work on a single task. It has 4 types that are commonly used in the business field.

1. Basic Automation: This is the basic type of automation that will help you perform simple tasks, such as creating the center software to store all the data. It will organize the information automatically to make it easier for humans to understand.

2. Process Automation: It will help you with the information, document, and all the business processes, such as budget or any project management.

3. Integration Automation: It will observe the way human performs the tasks and it will try to imitate us. For example, sales management software is integrated with customers’ order software. If it receives the email about purchasing orders, it will send it to the person who is concerned about this directly.

4. Artificial intelligence Automation: This one is a combination of AI and automation, so it is the most effective and has better decision-making than any other. It will analyze the database and decide based on the history or possibility that it has observed.

The benefits of automation

Using automation will make both owners and employees save their precious time and focus more on other essential tasks. As it can help perform mostly repetitive tasks, the employees can use their time for other important work. Also, automation’s performance is productive, effective, and standardized because they are machine-based. When the tasks were done by humans, there might be some mistakes that occur, but they rarely happen with automation. Plus, automation can help you categorize how important or urgent each task is since it has all the databases, so it can analyze based on the information and history that they have. Many businesses are willing to use automation to save time and keep their business process running. From all the information above, you may think that it is worth having one, but let’s get to know their downside.

The downside of automation

Automation is being considered artificial intelligence, so it needs the expertise to code the program at the beginning. Moreover, you have to make sure that the software can be maintained by technicians at your company. If the software or network is not the kind that your technicians are familiar with, it can increase your extra cost of maintenance. Also, the security of a system is crucial. If the data is being hacked or information leaked, then your company can get into trouble. Apart from that, money is also one of the important factors. From the beginning, since you install the automation, coding, maintaining, etc. It may not suit well in small businesses or start-up companies because it requires a lot of money.

Using automation is optional for business owners. As it can help both owners and employees save time, it comes with the problems of maintenance, security, and money. There are many factors involved in using automation, so you have to compare and consider thoroughly whether it will be worth using automation in your company or not.
