Ready or not, the New Year is approaching full force and there is nothing you can do to stop it. This time of year is when most of us are putting the finishing touches on 2021. Others of us have already kicked 2021 out of the door and we are well off into 2022 with plans to conquer all we set out to do. Doing dream and vision boards, expensive 2022 journals, pretty pens and pads all seem to play a part in proper planning. As they are tantalizing to the eye, they do not work by themselves. In doing some reflecting, I have discovered 3 accurate tips for setting goals and how you can achieve them in 2022:

Thoughts. It all begins in your mind. You’ve spent 2020 thinking about it. You’ve tried several things with no real traction. You’ve gotten discouraged or even had someone saying discouraging words to you. No matter who says what, the thought is still there. It’s still the last thing you dream about and the first thing on your mind when you wake up. Grab that pretty journal, pen and/or pad. Write down what it looks like and feels like to live your goal. Write down how your goal contributes to your well-being. Write down how your goal contributes to the well being of those around you. Then how it contributes to the world. Once you start thinking outside the box, your mind will expand to beyond your current situation. There are no limits to what you can achieve when you see it in your mind.

Be realistic. Distraction is so easy because we think we see the lifestyle or the results of what we want. Time and work behind the scenes are rarely a thought. For example, you want to be the top..whatever in your field. You follow a couple influencers that are doing what you see yourself doing, but just watching them on social media. Interacting, reaching out, seeking knowledge are some ways to begin realistically. Putting in efforts to get your audience growing is the work. Continue developing your craft and growing your audiences create consistency. This is an example of being realistic and creating a routine. Start small, create a flow that works for you. Be realistic about where you are and what you’re willing to do each day to reach your goal. Being realistic will reveal if you’re on track, what do you need to do more/less of, or if you need to change your direction all together. Save yourself some time and effort by being realistic with yourself and what you are and are not willing to do.

Be your own competition. This is so amazing when it comes down to helping you do the small things everyday that will lead to your goal. Did you do everything you could to contribute to your goal today? If not, why? Yes, write this down too so you can see it in the morning. Also, it helps you release so you can get a peaceful, whole sleep. You need your energy so you can wake up the next day and crush the thing you didn’t do yesterday AND the thing you need to do today. Stay focused on your tasks and the reason WHY you are motivated. Focusing on what’s going to make you better is also a part of self-care. When you look in the mirror, what do you want to see looking back? Untapped potential or fully exposed excellence?

Sharing these 3 tips is to empower you to be patient with yourself to prevent becoming overwhelmed but motivated enough not to make excuses or fall behind. It all begins so simply but can quickly turn into something that becomes uncontrollable. Breathe, allow yourself some grace. Celebrate your wins and accomplishments. Love yourself and focus and 2022 is yours for the taking!

Be Encouraged,
