David Mahler

Recovery Coach | Sober Companion | Addiction Awareness Facilitator

David Mahler is a Board-Certified Addiction Recovery Coach (CARC) and Certified Facilitator of Addiction Awareness (CFAA) who has guided more than 100 individuals and families from diverse backgrounds toward recovery, stability, and renewed purpose. What sets David apart is that his work is not only grounded in professional training—it is deeply informed by lived experience.

Having faced addiction both personally and within his family, he has transformed adversity into a life’s mission: helping others navigate the complex and often overwhelming journey toward lasting recovery.

Raised in Brooklyn, New York, David experienced profound loss at an early age when his father passed away while he was just 10 years old. Growing up in an environment where drugs were prevalent, he was exposed to challenges that could have easily defined his future. Instead, he developed a strong work ethic and determination that led him to a successful career as a foreign currency broker in New York City.

David’s perspective on resilience and the fragility of life was further shaped by historic events while working in the World Trade Center during both the 1993 bombing and the September 11, 2001 attacks. Surviving these life-altering experiences strengthened his belief in the importance of community, connection, and supporting others through life’s most difficult moments.

His commitment to helping others deepened when addiction touched his own family, particularly through his daughter Dana’s struggles with substance use. Experiencing firsthand the fear, uncertainty, and emotional toll addiction places on families inspired David to dedicate his life to recovery coaching and to helping other parents and loved ones find guidance, hope, and practical support.

Today, David works closely with individuals and families at many stages of the recovery journey. His coaching philosophy is built on trust, empathy, accountability, and authentic human connection. As someone who has personally walked the path of recovery and lived the experience as both a parent and spouse impacted by substance use disorder, he offers a rare level of understanding, compassion, and credibility to those he serves.

Through recovery coaching, sober companionship, and addiction awareness facilitation, David emphasizes the transformative power of community, support, and purpose in the healing process. By openly sharing his story and guiding others through their own recovery journeys, he continues to inspire individuals and families to take the courageous first steps toward healing, resilience, and lasting wellness.

David believes that recovery is not simply about overcoming addiction—it is about rediscovering hope, rebuilding lives, and reminding people that lasting change is always possible.
